briefings in the afternoons. this was brought up as saying oh, we have looked into it. this was that at this house select subcommittee hearing on wednesday it's likely they are going to say wait, was there an examination of this from the start and then they goal back and forth on this. >> steve: great. thank you very much. >> brian: some of those doctors that were questionable about this coming from natural causes from a wet market in the meantime one of the doctors over at tulane. here is what mark was referring. to say fauci says he prompts the writing of this memo. he prompts the writing of the elm mow eight weeks later cited the paper as evidence that the lab leak theory was implausible while pretending it had nothing to do with him and did not know the authors. that's the most maddening about anthony fauci when things go wrong it wasn't his ideas.

that donald trump, you know, keen in mind people think that sununu is going to run for president and he very well might. said that donald trump would not be the nominee for the republican party went on to say if the held in new hampshire. >> brian: interesting if he ran in new hampshire. so popular as a governor i imagine he would win new hampshire. >> steve: that's a good reason to run. >> brian: i will tell you what. is he extremely personable. is he a strong candidate. donald trump is trying to vilify jeb bush and paul ryan. a portion of the party that he is trying to link ron desantis to. also working on a nickname ron dishonest, ron the establishment or tiny d. people are uncomfortable. it's hard to label somebody who is so similar to him with a nickname. it's almost as -- it makes everybody on all sides seemingly uncomfortable. even people reporting it.

two people are in critical condition and at least six others treated for nine life-threatening injuries. now to other fox news alert. 35 people under arrest violent protest construction site state of the art police training facility in atlanta. footage from the scene shows protesters throwing rocks, fireworks and molotov cocktails at officers. the protests part of a so-called week of action was organized by an activist group trying to stop construction of the project it calls cop city. the $90 million facility is set to open later this year. it includes a mock city where atlanta police officers conduct training exercises in realistic settings. the transportation department stonewalls requests for details on 23 taxpayer funded private jet trips that were taken by secretary pete buttigieg and his staff. agency luxury travel blank despite freedom of information request. one watchdog says it's

>> ainsley: a heckler direct ago sinister message at buster murdaugh the son of alex murdaugh as questions surround the death of a classmate in 2015. the body of stephen smith was found in the middle of the road, not far from where maggie and paul were murdered. no charges were ever filed, but that could change. here with more south carolina lawyers grant kim varner. good morning to both of you. >> good morning. thanks, ainsley. >> thanks for being here. are they going to open up this case again? what happens here, grant? >> so, i think sled has made it very clear not just in their press conference the day after, you know, alec murdaugh's sentencing but as a whole, sled has made it clear they are going to investigate any and every crime connected to not only alec murdaugh but anything they discover at mizelle. as we all now know something discovered at mizelle has led them to open the investigation into stephen smith. we don't yet know what it is but

clear sort of the bad name that was left behind after the murdaugh investigation. but all these unanswered questions. >> ainsley: the murdaugh name kept coming up when investigators were looking around, correct? >> correct. the initial highway patrolman who investigated this case determined it was not a hit and run. the young man was laying in the middle of the road his shoes slip on shoes loosely tied. they were still on him. and we have seen many accidents handled many of these cases. we have never seen a case quite like this. it takes people out of their shoes. there was no body trauma but there was head trauma. did not find it to be a hit and run. coroner and oddly enough murdaughs came to the changed it. got changed to a mitt and run accident. that's most unusual. it's not like any case we have

randy murdaugh called to see if he could catch the case, you know. but, in the same breath. you kind of wonder now in hindsight, was he calling to try to help cover something up. >> ainsley: right. right. you hate to say that and accuse someone of that. but, with everything we just heard in the courtroom last week, kim, it just seems like at least alex murdaugh, he lied so often. and did so many things to cover up his crimes. and then the grandfather happened to be at the hospital after the boat accident happened to be there when they cleaned up -- not hit and run, the drunk driving accident. they cleaned up the beers and got the guns out of the car. and you hate to accuse someone of that and maybe they are completely -- the grandfather is completely innocent but it just seems like a good old boy system. >> i think the good old buddy system took a big hit. it may be dead in colleton, the murdaughs were not only in the legal system, they were involved

economic and military power in the world by 2049 and this just shows you that they are accelerating their efforts. yeah, we should be very concerned about it. >> brian: where are they getting this money from. economically they are suffering worse than we are. western europe bounced back quicker. why do they keep spending in these areas? >> well, because they have a plan. their plan is by 2049, which is the 100th year anniversary of the revolution they want to be the dominant military and dominant economic power in the world. think are going to stick to that plan. by the way, we are financing it. we are the ones that are funding it every time that you buy chinese product or sending another american company over to china to produce stuff. we are actually funding the instrument of what could be our demise. so, yeah, i urge every american to look at when they're buying things, you know, see if you can buy something made in america or made by one of our of a lies and try to stay away as much as possible as things made by china. >> brian: that's not going to be

enough. you need a whole hands on deck effort to decouple our manufacturing from there. including making it hard for businesses to open up there. in places like black rock, blackstone-black rock for staying out there. nike and apple already pulling out. when you look at china, united states spends way more than they do on -- we spend a lot more than they do on military 816 billion to 230 billion. but the question is what are we spending it on. >> they are spending money on modernizing equipment. ahead of us in some cases of technology. they steal a lot of our ideas and designs. and they don't have to pay their soldiers the same thing that we pay ours. when you look at our budget, most of the budget we spend here on the united states has been on our personnel because they are much better well paid. they don't do that in china as

far as equipment modernizing it and tactics are changing. standoff capabilities to keep the u.s. at bay. especially as designs on taiwan become more and more clear. >> brian: do you believe this administration gets it and do you believe this is the one issue that democrats and republicans can get together on? >> i do believe this administration gets it? i'm not sure about that. but is it one issue that democrats and republicans can agree on? yes. and i'm pretty hardened by the my colleagues that sit across the aisle that sit on the china select committee. we seem to be the same language. we understand the threat, now, the solutions, the democrats may have different solutions that we do in the republican side. but, by and large, it is a bipartisan issue and i look -- look, we need to be together in this fight. if not, you know, we will lose this fight in the end to the chinese communist party. >> from education on down.
