"the faulkner focus" and i'm julie banderas in for harris today. dozens of people targeting the planned $90 million complex. a target of left wing activists since 2021. they claim it will fuel police brutality and is destroying

valuable forest land. sunday's scene fiery and dangerous riders doused construction equipment in alcohol and set it on fire and also threw bricks, molotov cocktails and fireworks at cops. police say those arrested used a peaceful demonstration during a music festty call at the site as cover for the violence that followed. >> in america we're you a loaded to peacefully demonstrate. this was not a peaceful demonstration. this was a coordinated attack. this was an insurrection. i hope that the courts will deal harshly with these domestic terrorists. >> julie: here are the 20 people, most of them young and most not even from georgia. all but two of them, in fact, from out of state. tennessee, new york, massachusetts, even as far as

canada and france. charles watson has more from atlanta for us. hey, charles. >> good morning, julie. we expect most if not all of the protestors charged with domestic terrorism for their alleged roles in that attack on police to make first appearances in court this afternoon in georgia. these are their identities released by the atlanta police department. nearly everyone is from out of state including two who came from canada and france. one georgia resident who was arrested was a lawyer for the southern poverty law center, the nonprofit legal advocacy organization. confirmed his association with fox news and said he was at the site of the cop city attack as a legal observer on behalf of the national lawyers guild. you can see two people wearing green hats that resemble what the national lawyers guild is known to have their legal observers wear when they send them out to these types of

situations. in a statement the southern poverty law center said in part quote the employee is an experienced legal observer and their arrest is not evidence of any crime but of heavy handed law enforcement intervention against protestors. new aerial video released by the atlanta police department you can see a large group of protestors enter the site of atlanta's $90 million public safety facility. within moments you see protestors set fire to what appears to be a vehicle or construction equipment. several run toward a gate and begin throwing rocks and fireworks narrowly missing officers as they struggle to secure a chain link fence. the group came from a nearby music festty call and say the attack was coordinated. >> protestors use words. rioters use violence. in georgia you can be charged with domestic terrorism for engaging in this type of behavior. >> tensionings are riding high between the two sides in the recent past.

a georgia state trooper shot and killed a protestor at the training facility in january. they say protestors fired first. demonstrations from that incident spilled into the streets of downtown atlanta where protestors smashed windows an set a police cruiser on fire. that brings us to the present and the 23 who are charged with domestic terrorism. they will appear in court this afternoon around 1:00. >> julie: we look forward to that. jason rantz seattle radio talk show host joins me now with reaction to all of this. thank you for coming on. the southern poverty law enforcement center, the organization that supposedly tracks extremism here in america, has dismissed the idea that antifa was a threat to anyone. they said the threat of lethal violence pales in comparison to that posed by far right extremists. those are their exact words. tell me what group on the right

they are talking about that are violently attacking law enforcement. >> they don't exist. what we often hear from this organization and others, including some folks in the media, is that there is this big white supremacy threat. it exists but they don't label some of these groups. every once in a while you hear a name. they say white supremacy threat. we have actual organizers who become terrorists once they become antifa activists. they use political ideology to inflict violence upon people. their intent is to scare people into taking their political positions. in this case their intent is to help abolish police. they want to get rid of this particular facility. this is very clear, very clear example of domestic terrorism yet not labeled as that. you have the splc basically doing p.r. for this organization. they like the ideology behind the violence and so they are unwilling to call it out.

you have the lawyers on the ground. i've seen this in a lot of my coverage of antifa. they are there to help the terrorists get away with their violent actions. that's it. they aren't there to enforce the law. >> julie: a 28-year-old lawyer with the group was among those arrested which goes to show you how bold and brazen these people are. the "new york post" editorial board is calling for action when it comes to extreme activist. the headline. antifa should be labeled what it is, a hate group. former attorney general bill barr said he did his best to warn the new administration. >> something has to be done. my first day in office i met with or first few days in office i met with chris wray and urged him to get the f.b.i. on top of the antifa problem. and i thought we were making some progress but i'm very disappointed that this kind of thing can happen without the government being aware of it.

>> julie: shouldn't the white house be disappointed? karine jean-pierre said this. >> dozens of people were arrested protesting the so-called cop city. was the president aware of this? >> what was the protest? >> 23 have been charged with domestic terrorism. >> we have not been -- i have not heard any discussions about this protest over the weekend. >> julie: the attorney general merrick garland pretends as if antifa doesn't exist. there the white house press secretary being clueless about the antifa movement. then if it's not being addressed by the white house, the president, and the administration, clearly it is being ignored and that's why this behavior is allowed to continue. >> exactly. it is willfully being ignored. we've seen time and time again politicians refuse to acknowledge that antifa exists. they don't use the language. they tell us that it was an invention of the far right and fox news when we've got video.

what else do you call the people who are doing these kinds of domestic acts of terrorism? they are members of a group. it is loosely organized no doubt. there isn't a membership group or a president of antifa. these are folks who self-organize region ali and connect via social media to allow them to get around the communication without getting caught and realize what their next target will be. we saw it in the northwest and travel to minneapolis to engage in terrorism and again in atlanta to the point a lot of folks -- antifa as an organization and identify with it are throughout the country. a lot of it is in the pacific northwest. we raise money to they can get to the locations and bail people out of jail. >> julie: house republicans

promising to protect female athletes and making good on that this week. lawmakers set to take up a bill called the protection of women and girls in sports act. it only allows those born as girls to compete in women and girls school sports. the issue blew up overly yeah thomas who competed as a man for the first three years of her college career and transitioned and moved to the women's side routinely crushing her biological female competition. one of those competitors is riley gaines, a former university of kentucky champion. she tied with thomas at the collegiate championships last year and gaines has been outspoken. >> we have gotten to a point in society where we are denying basic truths. man and woman is the sheer essence of humanity and these people are trying to blur that line. they are pursuing the aggressive attempt to eradicate women as a

whole, which is incredibly heartbreaking. >> julie: girls sports is already competitive as it is. i have a daughter who is 13 and the size of a 10-year-old and has it tough competing against other girls. imagine having a boy compete against her would seem incredibly unfair. i don't know why we are debating the issue. >> generations of women fought for the right to be able to compete on an even playing field only to now have the so-called feminists on the left say biological men should compete. it is unfair. you can be respectful and compassionate towards folks who are transgender while also acknowledging that them participating in women's sport is unfair. despite what progressives tell you, there are differences between men and women. >> julie: thank you for talking to us. first it was a spy flight. now chinese-made cranes at our

>> julie: china as government lashing out at the u.s. as tensions between the two countries are soaring. in a rare move chinese president xi and china's foreign minister accused america of having a distorted view of china. at the same time new concerns over china-made spy cranes used at nearly 80% of u.s. ports. house oversight committee chair james with this warning yesterday. >> they could be monitoring any shipment of arms. this administration is wanting to provide all sorts of military equipment to ukraine. what would be the possibility that china has these sensors on the cranes that know exactly

of respect for the u.s.? >> where does it start? it's interesting the term distort. let's start with what is distorted in china. how about they have been distorting and manipulating currency for a decade and that they have a distorted human rights record where they are actively engaging in genocide within their own country. when it comes to regulatory practices, trade deals, you name it, they are the worst offenders. so it is pretty rich to hear from the chinese that they are now threatening americans and saying that it is a distorted worldview. no, it's a crystal clear worldview and i would say they are trying to distract from what is really going on. when they threatened us for shooting down the spy balloon. starting to talk tough now because we are getting closer to the origins of covid and their responsibility in that. that's when they are starting to get scared. this tough talk is nothing more than a cover for people who are

extraordinarily worried about the truth coming out. >> julie: house republicans are promising that accountability is on the way. the oversight committees with eight hearings in three days. they will be looking at issues ranging from covid origins, the border crisis and the biden family business dealings among them. now the house committee is busy. jim jordan issued a lot of subpoenas for testimony and documents. representative jordan wants answers on feds targeting concerned parents and the infamous disinformation board. >> we will focus on the attacks on first amendment and a number of areas, dhs and disinformation government board. f.b.i. coordinator and colluding with big tech to suppress information and mold the narrative. the real power of the legislative branch is the power of the purse and we will have to use it on this issue where we

think the government has been targeting the very people it is supposed to serve. >> julie: he just gets under the skin of every democrat in washington. they want jim jordan to go away. he is never going away. he wants to get answers and there are many questions that he needs to pursue. >> yes, absolutely. i'm lucky i get to serve on the house select committee on government weaponization with jim jordan and we're getting to the bottom of some of the worst offenses against the american people by their own government. really truly attacks on the constitutional rights. up if congress we have a constitutional duty for oversight of these executive branches for these abuses. but more importantly i think the american people want to see the oversight and then the follow-up action to make sure it never happens again. that's why we have to do these oversight hearings but then we have to take the action to fix the problems in the first place. so while there is a lot of activity happening today, this will go on for the next two

into the brush some trying to climb over a fence. the driver did get away but troopers caught four illegal immigrants all taken into custody. this sort of thing happens day in and day out down here. another video. this is in rio grande city 40 minutes away from where we are now in the rgb. border patrol chased a human smuggler. that smuggler drives his vehicle towards the edge of the river and is about to do what's known as a splashdown. they drive directly into the water in an effort to swim back to mexico. this time he stops the car. border agents rush in with batons and try to break out the windows. the car gets stuck and trying to drive into the water. agents eventually able to get the door open and arrest him. in arizona another significant fentanyl bust. in a 30-minute window at the port of entry there, cbp

officers seized 280,000 fentanyl pills as well as 18 pounds of meth. both those found in two separate carts in side panels, floors and spare tire. here is out of eagle pass where we're starting to see a resurgence of some of the bigger migrant groups showing up. january and february very slow months down here at the southern border. we haven't seen the big groups several hundred migrants. in recent days and weeks we see the medium groups showing up. this one a group of 80 crossing into eagle pass illegally a mixture of single adults and family units. even though january and february were slower months historically at the southern border keep in mind sources tell fox news just since october 1st there have already been over 1 million migrant encounters at the southern border. that doesn't even include the known gotaways. we'll send it back to you. >> julie: thank you.

and we have now the most recent two americans killed out of the four detained in mexico. the white house has done nothing. and now they are stepping forward saying they will bring back some of trump's policies. too little too late? >> this is not only a trump policy. this was an obama policy as well where the families were separated to make sure they weren't smuggling kids across the border and it was a means of deterrence. it sent a message if you come into the country as a family or individual unit, you will be detained and turned away. that was the idea. biden created this open door policy and look at what we saw. that bill melugin report captures the whole picture. the reason we see the migrants flood over the border is biden allows them in. all it does is serve as a decoy for the cartels real business, human and drug trafficking upriver while our border patrol agents are focused on processing

thousands of migrants coming across the border at places they know exactly where they will drop them. i've been embedded with the border patrol so many times. they know the times. they know at 3:00 a.m. the boats will come across and here they come. our poor guys are processing these people and doing child and baby care all day. this is not what border patrol should be doing. it is an emergency situation. as bill barr said we should be dealing with these people and the cartels the way we deal with isis and an emergency situation is necessary. >> julie: 0 deterrent on the border and in our cities where cops are given no power in order to prevent thugs from reoffending. if they don't see it, i don't know what it will take for them to see it. i have to move onto the vice president kamala harris raising high brows yet again with this tale. >> i grew up learning about we called it ecology at the time.
