"the five." two americans dead at the hands of a brutal mexican cartel. the victims were on a trip with two other friends when they were violently kidnapped after crossing the border. video shows the moment when they were abducted and tossed into the back of a truck. the americans were in mexico to get a medical procedure.

reportedly got lost looking for the clinic. that's when they got caught in the crosshairs of a cartel shoot-out. authorities think that they were mistaken for a rival gang. mexico says one's suspect has been arrested and they are looking for others. responsible. the two americans who survived are finally back in the u.s. being treated at a texas hospital. republicans say it's a tipping point and it's time to take down the cartels. >> i want to introduce legislation to make certain mexican drug cartels foreign terrorist organizations and set the stage to use military force if necessary to protect america from being poisoned from things coming out of mexico. >> there is another hostage, the mexican government. being held hostage by tens of thousands of paramilitary members of terrorist organizations that effectively

control mexico. >> greg: peter doocy pressing the white house on the cartel killings. >> cartels kill americans on the side of the border with drugs and other killing americans on the other side of the border with guns. why is president biden so comfortable with cartels operating so close to the u.s.? >> because of the work this president has done, because we have dug specifically on fentanyl at the border, it's at historic lows. >> greg: what garbage. anyway, that made no sense. it's kind of a crazy story, dana. it's also in a way not surprising because you never know what you're going to get into a new cross the border. see three the three the state department puts out notices saying these are places you should not travel to. it doesn't mean you can't travel there. it doesn't mean you should be assaulted while you're there. there are some things that we still need to understand. where they specifically targeted as soon as they came to the checkpoint? that i'm not sure about. eric erickson tweeted today that he had counted, more than 600

americans were abducted by drug cartels in 2021 in mexico. those are usually treated like a local news story. to his point, imagine it was isis or al qaeda and 600 americans were kidnapped. that would be a very different story. maybe that does need to change. jim jordan tweeted something that i thought was interesting. he said you had not just only the cartels kidnapping and killing americans this week. a female border patrol agent was violently assaulted by an illegal crosser that she was trying to deal with. fentanyl smuggled across daily. i'm not sure the press secretary was meaning that there is historic lows. i don't think that's true. look at the moms and dads dealing with all of this. the question of this plan, your people on capitol hill saying we need to do something about the drug cartels. there's a graphic that we did on "america's newsroom" and it shows on the graphic company cartels are in america. five different colors.

cocaine, we take away all the demand and that's the problem. no one is going to stop doing cocaine. so we have to figure out a new solution. you have to play these guys off each other. three big ones. it looks like cinaloa is the top dog. you have to cut a deal or work each other off of them with the mexican government. the mexican government tried to cut a deal with one of them but the other two got bigger. gulf controls this area and they have disintegrated. if you're going to start throwing missiles of these guys, that's a possibility, that's what senator lindsey graham wants to do and there's house resolution same the same thing. that say that you lob a missile into one of these things, how do they respond? he saw the imprint they have in the united states. what if they blow up an apartment complex in phoenix? then you are dealing with

facing life imprisonment, el chapo's cartel, dealing dr drugs. if you attack mexico, the mexican government or the mexican people will rise up. the better idea is to use trade, squeeze, as trump at times did, use it effectively in terms of immigration. i think you've really got to make it clear to the mexican people that it is in their best interest to do the best they can to provide information to honest cops. >> jesse: military has to be on the table. >> geraldo: the u.s. military? the history of imperialism in latin america runs very deep and to use the military against a latin american country would be virtually impossible. >> jesse: they did it in colombia. >> geraldo: with colombian consent in a civil war that had divided the country. i was there. i was in colombia with u.s. forces in the colombian jungle. >> jesse: and still not doing

problem is we are going to inevitably hit someone in the government because they are working with the cartels. that puts us at another level and it's a never ending war because the united states is the marketplace. we are the people who want the cocaine. and so it's never ending. i don't know what to do. >> greg: legalization. >> judge jeanine: it could be legalization but if you look at that map of where the cartels are in america, that is the killer. to me, that's treason. to allow that to exist in this country is treason. if you go 3 miles over the border from brownsville, texas, and you get yourself shot up, you have to talk to americans in short order. you don't go to a level four area. number two, if you do go as an american to mexico, you take someone who has been in the military who knows how to protect you. number three, we have got to do something at this end about the drug problem that we have.

after record-breaking thefts. this is basically common sense. these people going into the bodega's double masked, i don't think they are worried about covid. >> judge jeanine: in the beginning of the pandemic i said that people want no. ice like jesse james. the first thing you do is put a mask over your face. shock. crime isn't just about putting people in jail. crime is about making a community and neighborhood, an area safe so that the housing prices remain the same, so businesses can flourish. now we are peeling back a layer of the onion. now what we see is that not only are employees losing their jobs, not only our customers not able to buy the stuff they want to buy, businesses are going out of business. now we are saying that these individuals are not just not only going to jail, they are ruining communities. that's the problem. i don't want to say but i'm going to say it, the third time

on this show. eric adams is starting to impress me. it gives the ability to take people who are mentally ill, gives the cops the ability. recognizing the importance of prayer, for me that's kind of important. in this. this. this. why are they wearing masks? here's the deal. you can say i am afraid of everybody else. you still could be. they already came out and said masks don't matter. they don't protect you. what you do is you go into the store. they can idu with the technology but then you can put the mask on when you're in the store. so that's a great thing. >> jesse: judge jeanine, lamenting democrats. what's going on? >> geraldo: i like eric adams very much. i've been a firm supporter of his. i have liked him since he was a cop. we spent some time together recently. crime is very much on his mind. he fears for the city. this is a very practical approach to some of the casual crime and some of the premeditated stickups that you're seeing.

you defeat the most elaborate security system by wearing a hoodie and putting a mask on. so i think, you know, putting a sign up, mask on, no service. wear a mask is off here or you have double doors, the way they do in many jewelry stores nowadays, you have to start protecting retail the way that you protect banks and some of the precious assets. >> jesse: critics say that you're putting the onus on voting owners to say hey, you pay before you come in here, drop the mask. >> dana: paul morrow, he was on newsroom talking about how the nypd comes up with some creative solution and he said it's not going to help the bodega owner but it will help bigger stores up and down fifth avenue where you have the smash and grabs them. they know they're going to have to show their face. it might be a deterrent. but the real problem for the bodega's is the robberies.

the point about walmart closing, it's not the only stores that are going through this. it's not because of masks. i think this is the beginning of -- not just the beginning. we are in the middle of decline. the policy trade-offs are what's happening here. maybe they are unintended consequences but if you have prosecutors who will not prosecute actual crime and stores get booted, theft is through the roof, stores can't make money. and the staff working at those stores, like them walmart, might be threatened by approaching somebody and saying i saw you take that. you need to put it away. they are told they can't do it. inevitably stores are going to close and then what's going happen? the local advocates are going to say that's racist that you're closing the store. now there is food deserts. where are people supposed to get their goods? you are making people travel farther. they can't afford the gas. it's a slow decline.

unintended consequences, wind farms off the east coast likely leading to the killing of whales. think about the president's position with electric vehicles and those car batteries destroying rainforests. lots of these things happen but if you have prosecutors who won't prosecute crime, you're going to get more crime and then stores are going to make the inevitable decision to leave. >> jesse: well said. >> greg: this talk about an about-face unmasks. i thought only fauci could do that. the idea of putting up a sign is great. we know how criminals follow signs. i think we should all wear buttons that say "please don't mug me." that'll really work. what a sign is and a button, it's an excuse not to fight the real problem. to fight the real problem, you need a ton of cops. all of this is happening because of the lack of foot patrols. cops are the best deterrent. they've got to be allowed to do their job. we have reduce these patrols,

didn't plan on asking this question but when he says it's the best job in the federal government, being secretary of transportation, why is it for him the best job? >> greg: because he is a trailblazer. and you realize that? people say that i am trail trailblazer. you're a trailblazer. hanging out with a better class of people may be. she's not the mayor of college park, maryland, but who is? google it. the funny thing is, liberals will go to palestine but they won't go to palestine. it's not cool enough. there is something edgy about the bds movement but there's nothing edgy over flyover country or working class families getting screwed. this is the way it's always been. the democratic party's party of overeducated, angry liberal women. they are not a party for families. they are not party for working-class families. that suddenly beginning the turf of the republicans.

it? >> judge jeanine: the investigation i thought started in 2018, 2019. they just announced last summer that they had ended the investigation so there was a a question is whether or not they were going to indict him. and then with the delay, the issue came, they have to go to the deputy attorney general and get permission than there was talk about a possible plea bargain and now it's like eight months later, what you've got is a grand jury that investigated him for years. issues that are violations of the law. without question having to do with that pistol permit application and nothing is being done. when merrick garland says i have my hands off and i'm leaving it to the attorney general and delaware. it's not the way you're supposed to treat someone who apparently violated the law. if it were a trump kid, they would be in jail in solitary
