house. so, you know, this is all about politics. >> absolutely. this is not going to go anywhere with the house republicans who, of course, control the house majority. good morning to all three of you. i, too, already looked at the breakfast menu as well this morning. president biden will be in philadelphia tomorrow to actually unveil his budget but we are getting a sneak peek about what he wants to urge congress to do which is including raising the medicare tax on wealthier americans. people making over over $400,000 a year. raise the medicare tax up to 5%. call for expanding medicare's ability to further negotiate drug prices. i would expect we are going to hear a lot more from president biden on both medicare and social security. the white house says this as a wedge issue ahead of 2024. however, when it comes to the economy, americans may be focused elsewhere. the markets are set to open slightly higher today after a rough day of trading tuesday. >> the dow dropping nearly 575 points yesterday alone. the drop came only the same day as the federal reserve chairman jerome powell was up on the hill

warning that there be even more interest rate hikes than originally expected. >> i would explain to people more broadly that inflation is extremely high and it's hurting the working people of this country badly, all of them. not just 2 million of them but all of them are suffering under high inflation and we are taking the only measures we have to bring inflation down. >> and putting two million people out of work is part of the cost and they have to bear it? >> will working people be better off if we just walk away from our jobs and inflation remains 5%, 6%. >> we know now senator warren feels and american people feel. new study from fannie mae 70% of the americans feel the economy shedding on the wrong track. only 28% say things are heading in the right direction. >> when you are the economy you are trying to put people out of work that's your job, is it not. >> not really. we are trying to restore price stability. >> no, you are trying to raise

price drops set. trying to say do you have another move, mr. fed chairman besides raising rates? even though we are anti-inflation, should you also take responsibility for allowing us to get and there also backing up what the administration was saying about being transitory? another guy that understands the human element is the guy that grew up dirt poor, he will tell you, senator tim scott. looking at the spending in this country knowing the budget that's coming and what the fed is doing. he came to this conclusion. >> spending and printing trillions of dollars, caving to the radical elevate in this country, seeing policies posited and then implemented that led to the worst inflation in 40 years, seeing our inflation at 9.1%, seeing american families struggle because of the weight of the government on their shoulders, seeing the

devastation from south carolina to ohio, it's unbelievable that the progressives in this country who caused a 9 # .1% inflation would turn besides somewhere in the mirror to see the absolute devastation caused by their out-of-control spending is remarkable. remarkable. >> steve: here's the thing. if they would expand energy production domestically inflation would come down ultimately. so starting point where we began with mark was how this particular budget is dead on arrival when it arrives in the republican house. to prove that point, so the president is going to suggest $30 billion for law enforcement to fight crime, to counter, republicans, who say, look, democrats are soft on crime. this is all about 2024. you know, they -- the republicans say the democrats are just -- you know, they are

just wild spenders. what are they going to do? they are going to reduce the deficit by a trillion dollars. they are going to increase the pentagon budget and going to raise taxes on wealthy people. and ainsley, the whole whole idea is to appeal to centrist and working class voters in battle ground states. while there is a lot in the budget, it's all about getting joe biden reelected. >> ainsley: is this really the time, i mean, when we are in inflation, when interest rates are going up. ron desantis wants djokovic to play in the next big tournament to play down in florida. it's called the miami open. novak djokovic was denied his waiver to play in california recently. he also couldn't play, he was forced to withdrawal from the indian wells, california. and so, ron desantis has written a letter to the president and he said let him play. and this was a quote from a portion of that letter. it says, it is also not clear to me why, even by the terms of

your own proclamation mr. djokovic could not legally enter this country via boat. because it's all about air. >> steve: nice. >> ainsley: even as you issued proclamation on air travel that remains in force to this day, your administration pointedly allowed thousands of unvaccinated migrants to enter our country through the southern border. the only thing keeping mr. djokovic from participating in this tournament is your administration's continued enforcement of a misguided, unscientific and out-of-date covid-19 vaccination requirements for foreign guests seeking to visit our great country. so they say covid is over, this is one of the strongest, healthiest athletes in the world. he has been denied playing so many different events when he is such a competitor, which is always fun to watch for americans and for people all over the world. let the guy play. let him come to the states and let him play. he won wimbledon, they allowed him to play there. i know you have a lot to say about this, brian, being our sports guy. it doesn't make sense.

ron desantis makes a really good point. weave all have to show our passports and do everything right. so many people coming across our southern border don't show a passport and are not vaccinated. and one of them is aaron rodgers. remember he said he wasn't vaccinated? i'm pretty sure he played tackle football last year. for him not to play at 35 years old, he might be the greatest tennis player ever. he has about two more years top of his game. number one in the world. you have a chance if you are a sports fan tennis fan see him live for the last time. so hard to get to the grand slam events. these are smaller events to get. in revitalizes the city, helps the town and the game. it he's had everybody. but you are not letting him in because you will not -- you are too lazy to go in and say you're allowed to come to our country unvaccinated. my goodness the use of the chinese vaccine is useless. the russian vaccine is a joke. so, anybody who is vaccinated with those ridiculous inoculations they might as well have an anti vax.

>> ashley: the national transportation safety board is investigating the safety culture of norfolk southern following a series of derailments and accidents like the one in east palestine, ohio. the ntsb announced the probe yesterday after a conductor was killed in cleveland. that was when a dump truck crashed into his train. norfolk southern ceo is set to testify before a senate committee tomorrow on that toxic train derailment. shocking video out of new york city shows vandals tearing apart a chinese restaurant. the mass mob tossing chairs, flipping tables and smashing glass all as the restaurant staff watched in disbelief. now, thankfully, no one was injured in the weekend attack. but the restaurant's owner says it only took about one minute for the group to cause $20,000 in damage to his business. no arrests have been made. adidas is slashing its dividend
