by dousing it with high interest rates and now they're like the triage doctor trying to stabilize the patients, which are the banks. >> ashley: alexandria hoff is live in washington, good morning. alex alexandria: it would have led to another rate hike, that fight against inflation may have to be placed on hold. it was an attempt by silicon valley bank that led to selling off of securities. by thursday, stock began to nose dive and by friday regulators shut it down. sunday signature bank suffered the same fate and emergency measures were enacted. president biden tried to provide reassurance yesterday. >> president biden: americans can have confidence that the banking system is safe, deposits

banking committee, i've been following the last week closely. the events are result of some federal bank regulators being asleep at the wheel and poor management by banks. federal regulators are not calling this a bailout since customer losses will be paid with fees and not taxpayer funds. >> todd: regulators had one job and apparently did not do it. former trade commission chief joined us last hour saying the same thing, that the bank would not have collapsed if the federal government did its job. >> the first thing out of the president's mouth, like the railroad calamity. we will hold those accountable. i've seen no evidence of wrongdoing at the bank. that is not helpful for calming markets at times they need

calming. there is an anti-business attitude at the white house, they don't do constructive things. we can say that the safety and if reserve are being run by amateurs, they should have seen this coming, instead they were worried about holding the bank accountable and all that nonsense. this bank is solvent, should not have failed and valuable assets are being lost. >> ashley: snowy conditions in massachusetts this morning as the nor'easter continues to strengthen. state of emergency being declared in new york and new jersey ahead of a storm expected to dump two to four feet of snow across the state this week. >> todd: parts of the northeast hit by rain and snow and power outages and winds expected to hit 45 miles per hour. governor of nevada declaring state of emergency for 13 counties ahead of flooding, snow

and possibly infrastructure damage. california bracing for another atmospheric river with flash flood warnings in place for the bay area, the oakland zoo will be closed as result of heavy rain and wind anticipated in the region. janice dean has the forecast, you know it is serious when they close the zoo. >> janice: a lot of thesis papers will be written about what is happening across the west, really big deal, epic storm systems moving into the west and our nor'easter. i'm showing temperatures because along the coast it is too warm for snow, that will change in the next 12 to 18 hours. here is our low pressure system that not really has gotten its act together yet. we will see that strengthen or feel it along the coast throughout the next couple hours throughout the evening and into tomorrow. here is what it looks like right now in terms of radar, getting snow in interior sections of the

northeast. wind gusts in nantucket 23 miles per hour, we will see winds go up over the next 12 hours, 40 to 50, 50 to 60 miles per hour and we think we will have widespread power outages for new england and upstate new york. take a look at it, fox model showing wrap-around snow as the social security moving north and eastward for long island and new york, we are expecting an inch of snow in and around the city of new york, north of new york we will see jackpot snowfall totals from 24 inches plus, some models are showing upward of three feet, close to four feet of snow in the mountains through wednesday, this is certainly a big event and widespread power outage forecast in the red widespread for parts of upstate new york in toward new england. that is a big deal, could see

activities in other parts? >> jonathan: that is what they do, flood the border and while the border patrol is busy, that is when fentanyl and other narcotics are coming across. we have a constant stream of people coming across and border patrol is busy taking care and processing the people. >> todd: you think a wild and chaotic scene like we just saw would cause the democrats to be like we need to do something. that is not the case, benny thompson says it is clear republicans plan to politicize this from the start. republicans are traveling to the border to attack the administration and score political points with their extreme rhetoric. they are boycotting tomorrow's border hearing, how much more unserious can democrats get about the southern border? >> jonathan: that reminds me of the hearings we had here three

border realizes and understands and knows every town is a border town, every state is a border state and this is ia problem we need to confront head on, they need to come, see what is happening, i invited the president and vice president and they have been close and not come for themselves to see the border and see what is happening here every single day. >> todd: they need to see at 2:15 in the morning, you have apprehended hundreds illegally crossing the border. democratic governor signing bill allowing illegal immigrants to get drivers licenses. you legally immigrated to the u.s. and it took you three years to get your license. what is your reaction to your governor signing this bill? >> absolutely outrageous. i can no longer recognize what country i'm in because i came

>> todd: a portland drug counselor says activists are setting up empty tents on the street to encourage homelessness. >> it's a piece of cake really. i mean, that is why you probably got so many out here because they feed you three meals a day. you don't have to do [bleep] but stay in your tent and party or if you smoke dope, do that, that is all you do every single day, i'm being honest. >> todd: that portland drug counselor joined us last hour. >> they want to destabilize the community. you put up one tent, it then attracts 50 tents within days and activists go to a restored park and put tents back up, because guess what, it is

looking too good. if the blight is seen, it proves their point in their mind that capitalism is the root of all evil. >> todd: 18,000 reported to be homeless in oregon in 2022. a woman left paralyzed after a suspect robbed 4300 from her in broad daylight in early february. the attacker tracked her for 23 miles after watching her withdraw money from an atm. she was left unable to walk, she has to rely on a wheelchair and her three kids. she only has a 50% chance of fully recovering, leaving her children's future unknown. we don't know what to do, if a miracle happens, she can walk again. what makes this more tragic, she had been saving the stolen cash

to visit her family in vietnam, she hasn't seen them in nearly six years. the suspect is on the loose more than a month later. >> ashley: another shocking video out of south carolina, thieves break into a jewelry store getting away with a million dollars worth of merchandise. the suspects are on the loose and they are still searching for answers. the owner of queens jewelers and her son join us now. thank you for being with us. nicky, they stole a million dollars from your store and you are begging for answers, have you gotten any answers? >> absolutely nothing. >> ashley: nothing from police, no leads or updates, have they contacted you? >> they contacted me yes, no lead or update in the case whatsoever. we have given police a lead even yesterday, but have not heard

anything from them. >> ashley: do you think this was a targeted attack on your business? >> absolutely 100%, has to be somebody from within the maul that has this information, how they could have access to the mall hallway. how can they enter the mall when the mall is shut down, no one should be able to enter the mall after mall hours. >> ashley: have you thought approximate about what you will do going forward as far as having the business in the mall, are you going to ep coo the business open? what are you going to do? >> we are still going to try, we have been at the same location for 17 years. we're going to try. our goal, what we want from the community, for them to help us identify these people. somebody knows about these people, i'm sure they work in a gang, they are a group of people. they have to know about the

politics of it all, for more on the business of it, bring in cheryl casone from fox business here with more. walk us through it. >> cheryl: i think jamie raskin is trying to get ahead of what is going to come out of the bank records, at least 10 years coming from bank of america. it is accounts, checking, it is rob walker and two other unnamed individuals in the investigation. it goes back to the laptop and that erupted the story and showed the dealings hunter biden was -- be clear, if you read the documents, he was using the name to get nice paychecks from ukraine to cut nice deals with the chinese. that is there on the laptop. what james comer wants to do is further the investigation and i think raskin is nervous about this. were there payouts? that is something the bank records can tell the committee.

livelihood, the ecosystem of the economy. that is his response to silicon valley response, you can say it is a weak response, i don't think it has much to do with gavin newsom, i think it is a federal issue. fdic shouldn't be on gavin newsom's plate. now go to reparations. remember california never participated in slavery, but they want to pay reparations to descendants of african american individuals living in the state of california. there is total cost of the program $640 billion and number of black californians who receive the payout, 1.8 million people. california has revenue problem, facing massive deficit in the state. can california afford this 22.5 billion budget defit is the barrel of the gun california is
