♪ signature ♪ 2000. >> steve: it is catchy. and that's the signature bank. two things we learned last night about silicon valley bank, they didn't have a chief risk officer for several months last year and their board members didn't have a ton of investment banking experience. but, they did have experience donating to and working for high profile democrats. kate mitchell donated 50 k to hillary clinton's 2016 campaign. darren stag lynn donated $135,000 to democrats. that included 79,000 to hillary. 10,000 to biden. 79,000 to clinton and $35,000 to observe. mae miller on the board did work for obama at the treasury department.

until they absolutely have to. >> steve: i don't blame them. peter doocy live at the university of las vegas in front of the arena. thank you very much. so the breaking news is that credit suisse the great big bank from switzerland has gotten some news that their biggest backer is the saudi national bank and they have said they are not going to put any more money into it. apparently the saudis say, look, by law, we can only put in up to 10%. and so that's what we're in at. we're not going to put any more in. right now credit suisse was down 21% before trading was halted. and as you can see in the corner right under brian the dow jones industrial average down over 500 points, bank stocks are really taking it again on the chin. >> ainsley: all right, when it comes to the silicon valley bank, when peter is outlining the board. it's interesting that they -- there was only one person on the board with experience in

banking. >> steve: great. >> ainsley: worked with barclay's bank. when you look at who they were supporting, they were supporting all of these democrats from clinton to biden to obama. and then one of them was on a trip to kyoto and she said when she was learning that president trump was doing well and was winning, she said she went into this shin toe cheyenne and she cried when she learned that donald trump won in 2016. then we learned that they were donating money to black lives matter. andy puzder, the former cke restaurant ceo talks about the bank's woke focus contributing to its collapse. >> if you had a bank with, you know, a huge percentage of its portfolio invested in low yield interest bearing bonds, you should have seen something was going to happen. if all you are focused on is climate change and trying to hire people for qualifications other than their merit, their qualifications of their character, if you are not focused on how your company is

governed and run, if you are just focused on being woke, you are going to have problems. and these are the kinds of problems that arise. i think we are going to see this in a lot of other businesses and sectors if we don't get back to our misk focus on corporations are run and hiring people based on merit. it was a perfect storm for a bank failure and that's what we ended up with. >> brian: whole equity push whole equality, recognition or whatever people are pushes on every level from our schools to the bedroom, we know about now investing is all about equity. making people feel good for the pronouns that they choose instead of doing the best they can for the money. so it's no longer the best -- hire the best person. let's hire the best person and has to be a transgender that at one point questioned their sexuality or has a mixed race background. that is the thing that should be top of your resume. and look at this guy greg becker. he is a he is poof work.

this ceo sat down last week and talked about how healthy the silicone valley bank was. and he says we have a sparkling future. and then they went ahead and lost $1.8 billion. then he scrambled to raise $2.25 billion and in the middle of that, they lost everything. not before he cashed out for 3.4 million worth of stock. and they say. >> ainsley: the week before. >> brian: congress is going to investigate. of course they are going to investigate. why would you tolerate having seven people on a board only one with experience and this guy is known best for the amount of donations he gave to democratic causes. so this is unbelievable. >> ainsley: the ceo and cfo another guy daniel beck. greg becker the ceo and daniel beck the cfo both sold shares one week before. greg becker the ceo sold shares on february 27th, sold for 2.3 million and a little more than 575,000 sold shares on

february 17th. >> brian: there should be a law against that. wouldn't you think? got to claw it back. >> steve: that's why the department of justice, the sec and commonwealth of massachusetts are looking into it. clearly, when you look at who is on the board, they hired a bunch of people who did not have banking experience, but they were like-minded. and there's nothing against the law for that. however, it's a for-profit business. you want a company to make money and obviously they made a lot of crazy business decisions. >> ainsley: doesn't it make you want to know who is sitting on the board of your bank. who is controlling the money. >> steve: that's why everybody is advised do due diligence before you put money into anything. whether you look into wells fargo, buying a mortgage from them or whatever. always look into exactly how the company is run and what their ideas are. >> brian: talking about regulation, republicans and democrats. i don't think it's anything to do with regulation. i think they will find that out. 10 minutes after the hour. the thing that is beginning to break is the biden finances.

and bank of america and the treasury department finally ran out of reasons to say no to james comer. he got some information and some bank records. he came over to jesse's show and said a little bit about how the biden family could be up to their ears in investments with the chinese government. watch. >> >> well, we discovered that they got a $3 million wire two months after joe biden left office and then the very next day from that account that walker account that appears to be a pass through account, then they started wiring money to biden family members, plural. and there were three different biden family members that received a cut from that $3 million, including a new biden family member that's never before been included in any of these investigations. so, our question is, you know, what exactly did they do to receive that money? what was the purpose of that $3 million wire? >> steve: right. and that's the $64 million

question. what is the purpose? i mean, they got -- they traced $3 million to a biden associate. and then he gave it to different parts of the biden family, including a name apparently we have not seen before. there's -- right now, we don't know what the there there is. we just know that the republicans have been interested in dialing things back and trying to reveal anything that the biden family might have done in the past that was unscrupulous or illegal but so far the republicans have not revealed what that might be. >> ainsley: he said that was the only wire that they were able to obtain from the bank records. he said there are many, many more. and hopefully that will be revealed to us through these investigations. he says the treasury only turned over this material. revealing that there is another biden family member after threats of a transcribed interview with the department official. >> brian: meanwhile, nancy mace joined us earlier today. one of the topics was russia.

the other topic was hunter biden and the connections to the entire biden family. she says this is just the beginning, watch. >> what we learned yesterday was there are multi million dollars deals that china paid one of the biden associates and within 24 hours, less than 24 hours, actually, that money was then given to 3 members of the biden family. to say that china wasn't paying off biden or his family members would be a lie. that is exactly what they were doing. multi million dollars worth. this kind of thing that is going on with the biden family it is prevail lent and pervasive and it needs to stop. >> steve: and this information was contained in what is known as a sar. a suspicious activity report. and these are automatically generated by banks when suspected cases of money laundering or fraud are involved ised that the case with the binds? we don't know yet. we have been told that apparently the house oversight

>> brian: dow futures falls 500 points. could be an ugly at a. this comes as the department of justice officially launches an investigation into silicon valley bank and its collapse and as some banks are having to work to boost confidence. one community bank is seeing increase in customers who now want to bank with people they know and trust. case in point, cedar stone bank president and ceo bob mcdonnell. bob, how long have you been in the regional bank business? >> brian, we have been in business since 2004. and so we have seen a very steady business plan that we initiated back in 2004. so, things are going really well for us. >> brian: so, right now, we understand that these deposits -- depositors are going to be made whole but investors are not what did silicon valley bank do wrong? >> well, it's put -- what is

interesting here, brian, is that every bank across the nation, every 18 months, some regulatory authority is examining that bank. they do what's called a safety and soundness examination. and what they have analyzed very carefully is capital, the health of the loan portfolio and the securities portfolio. they review management. they look at earnings. they look at liquidity and they analyze how a bank will respond to an increase in rates or decrease in rates. so, the examiners are very thorough. and they are very careful. they are very confident and they know what they're looking at. so in our case they will come in, they will spend about four weeks with us. they will bring 10 to 12 people. they have complete access to our bank records. all of our documents. >> brian: okay, why didn't that happen? that happens for you, cedar stone. but it didn't happen there. unless these were totally

incompetent. what didn't they see? >> well, it's hard to say. i don't think we are going to know the details of that for quite some time. so, i find it very interesting that they did not know what was going on and that they were probably in the process ever determining what exactly what was going on. but i would be surprised if their regulatory authority didn't know what was going on. if they were working with them very closely to figure that out. >> brian: when you see what is going on with this bank that sold off stock worth $3.4 million, the ceo and others got bone houses knowing this bank was skidding. knowing that interest rates were going up and they weren't well-positioned. how often does that happen and is there regulation that you fear is going to come that is going to hurt banks like yours because of it? >> yeah. those are troubling stories to see come out, brian. and those items are also very

closely reviewed. every bank has internal auditors, external auditors in addition to the regular imla tore authorities who examine. always someone in the bank. so somewhere the risk management process is broke down. and on the depositor issue, brian, what is interesting, what has been some misinformation out there is you can have more than $250,000 secured at any bank. for example two people, let's say a couple, they can have up to a million dollars insured in any one bank 'if it's structured properly and according to the fdic guidelines. >> brian: got it. bob mcdonald, a very solvent and successful regional bank cedar stone. thanks so much for joining us. >> thanks, brian. >> brian: coming up straight ahead. fox news alert. a russian fighter jet collides with drone over international airspace and forcing it into the black sea.

on it so we couldn't see through the cameras and the censors. >> exactly. this -- they are out there saying that our drone flying in international waters is an hostile act? that's ridiculous, right? they did dump jet fuel on it. they ejected jet fuel from their aircraft. they spoiled the visual censors and abilities of that drone. their aircraft hit its propeller and that's what brought the thing down. this was an act by the russians. this was more bullying. we have seen it for decades. i mean, they fly -- they buzz our ships. they fly close -- they try to come into the airspace in alaska. it's bullying from russia. it's unacceptable. it's a hostile act at a minimum on their part. we are in international waters. and it's far more serious than unprofessionalism. >> ainsley: you know, congressman, obviously they are trying to provoke us. we are providing a lot of equipment, billions of dollars in equipment to ukraine. we should expect something like this.

do we ignore it? do we shoot down something of theirs? do we slap more sanctions? what do we do? how do we respond? >> i think we continue the sanctions. we make -- they should be as crushing as they possibly can be. they should have been from the very beginning. the fact that we stair stepped it has only emboldened putin to do this kind of stuff. we should put them on maximally and continue in ukraine to supply what the ukrainians need to defend their sovereignty. >> brian: right. i'm not sure we pledged to do things but the tanks are a year away. our nato members not being pressed to rush things. we only gave a third of the money that we already pledged and allocated has gotten to them and equipment. they give them enough to survive but not enough to win. is there anything you could do about this? >> yeah. we can push, you know, in congress, we can tie budgets for their pet projects to getting this thing done. but this administration has got to go all in. i mean, it's. >> brian: it's the state department. >> well, it is.

it's a combination of the state department and the defense department. remember, the flow of those weapon systems are run by the defense department. >> steve: indeed. all right. meanwhile, you are on homeland security. let's talk a little bit about this. you are going to have a hearing down at the border today, and the democrats are not going to show up. they say the republicans have made it political. here's the thing, you guys in congress spend millions of collars doing these congressional delegations to go around the world to look at things with your own two eyes. this is the opportunity for democrats to see our southern border fentanyl coming across and democrats say no, not going to go. i don't get it. >> yeah, i don't get it either. look, you can't read a book and then go do surgery. you can't attack an enemy without having some intelligence. you can't build a business plan without knowing what the market is like. you have to go -- leader have to go to the ground to build a good plan. we came down here to figure out why this surge is hang. and they are saying it's a

political stunt? i this the political stunt is the empty chairs of the democrats who are awol from this committee. this is their place of duty. and they are not showing up. that's the political stunt. >> ainsley: you bring up a good point i don't want a doctor touching me if he has just read the book. okay. the rush to the border. we saw the video of all of these folks mostly from venezuela going across the -- across the bridge, trying to get into the u.s. they were stopped, thankfully by our border patrol agents. but, they learned about this through this app. the cbp one app. where cartels were on the app. and telling them the united states is celebrating. this is day of the migrants. for one day you get to rush over. how can we prevent something like this? >> well, obviously, that whole app. is designed to just bring more people into the united states. if you fill out the app., you get instant parole. that's ridiculous. it just shows the real intentions of this administration. but what we have to realize is that the cartels are strategic. just like they have sent mass waves of people to the crossing

expect to he: maybe you have an average of one or two per month. >> steve: okay. one or two proximate result month. fox business anchor and host of american dream home on fox business cheryl casone joins us she used to work in the airline industry. so, so far there have been seven near misses or whatever they call them now so far this year we are only up to march 15th. in the average year, between 4 and 10 so we are going lickety split in the bad department. >> pressure in the system is what he is calling it the acting administrator for the faa. doing this impromptu summit today actually with a lot of airline executives and pilots and industry -- just to figure out what is going on. there is a couple things happening. first, you have this rush back to travel from the flying public. that's created. >> steve: people want to get out. >> cheryl: people want to get out and get on planes. they need to focus more on the technology for the air traffic control system. they talked about that. they don't -- you know, we have the safest system in the world. i felt completely safe flying on

planes. you have got to do updates to that. that's a piece of it. the hiring issues for air traffic controllers, it is a very high stress job. took about the incidents, the jfk incident and quick-thinking air traffic controller caught that that was america and delta plane. basically had delta plane almost t-boned american aircraft. that was in january. the hawaii incident with the united plane that dropped altitude very fast. there is a lot of talk about that issue. and that was -- does it happen? , yes, when i was a flight attendant, did it happen to me? >> if you are yes. we would be coming in for landing and the plane 1,000 feet above oh, we are going to go -- never mind, we are -- ladies and gentlemen we are just going to circle around the airport there was a little plane in our way. it happens. the incidents on the ground i don't worry as much about, obviously if it's takeoff and landing, that's your danger.

>> steve: so they are having a summit. meanwhile southwest airlines which you used to work for. >> cheryl: yes. >> steve: they are upgrading their computer stuff so they don't have the same problems they had around christmas time where tens of thousands of people wound up not getting home in time. >> cheryl: 16,000 plus flights were canceled over a 10-day period. worst situation the ceo bob jordan says we are upgrading the technology. the customer support phone lines going to work on that. the crew scheduling software and also going to work on the de-icing issues for the aircraft. one of the big things that happened to them is they would de-ice the planes and not getting in the air fast enough. that's a weather problem. other airlines were okay. southwest wasn't over christmas. now they have got this new technology at southwest where they are going to have concerns. concernssensors, once you de-ice aircraft tell you how much time you have to get in the air. >> steve: stop watch. >> cheryl: if you don't go now
