5:00 pm
literally the only house chore men are responsible for. tread lightly, watters. i think our stage manager wrote that text. all right. we gotta get out of here. that's all for tonight. tucker's up next. always remember, i'm watters and this is my world. >> tucker: good evening and welcome to tucker carlson tonight. looks like you're gonna get a hot war with russia and china whether you want one or not. yesterday morning an american reaper drone went down over the black sea. we still do not know what happened. we're not gonna lie to you. we don't know. we don't expect to find out any time soon, if ever. the biden administration says it knows. it says the unmanned drone was
5:01 pm
harassed and damaged by two russian fighter jets over international waters. that's all we have. we're going to have to take their word for it. lindsey graham didn't ask many penetrating questions. he moved, seized the opportunity to demand that the pentagon attack the russian air force. here he is. >> we should hold them accountable and say if you ever get near another u.s. flying in international water, your airplane will be shot down. what would ronald reagan do right now? he would start shooting russian planes down if they were threatening our assets. >> tucker: what would ronald reagan do? good question, senator graham. ronald reagan's two term presidency was notable for the fact that he did not declare war on the russian air force and therefore the united states did not go to war with russia and millions of lives were saved as a result. that's not a small thing. but one in the reagan win column there. another president they told you was a crazy war monger who
5:02 pm
actually kept us out of war and won the cold war anyway. how did reagan do that? he kept the american economy strong. do you remember that? seems like a long time ago. pretty much the opposite of the approach being pushed right now by lindsey graham an his friends in the war party. their plan is to ignore our borders in the united states but to defend ukraine. they are even funding the ukrainian pension system, not kidding, as our own american banks collapse. what would ronald reagan do? he'd probably vomit if he saw it. good thing ronald reagan is not here. what about lindsey graham's plan, plans almost every republican senator in the u.s. and all the democrats. how do you help the united states? they never answer that question because they couldn't be less interested. so back in the modern era where the rest of us live, you got to wonder what's going on here? lindsey graham is telling us we have to attack the russian air
5:03 pm
force. why now? we well, let's see. we sent questions to likely republican candidates and asked them where they stood on the war in ukraine. we expected most would agree with lindsey graham and every office holder in washington, d.c. but, no. that's not what happened. the opposite happened. virtually, without exception, every republican potential hopeful from donald trump, long on the record, to ron desantis, to greg abbott, and others have turned against the idea of a hot war with russia. ron desantis described what is happening in ukraine as a, quote, tear torial dispute that is not even in the top five critical national security concerns of the united states. hardly anybody imagined ron desantis thought that. but he does. he's on the record saying so. what does that mean?
5:04 pm
the republican presidential nominee, almost no matter who it is, will oppose an open ended commitment to fund the war in ukraine in order to fight russia forever. now, their position is, in fact, fully in line with the overwhelming majority of conservative voters, the ones who choose the republican nominee. but those voters have been disenfranchised for the past year as lindsey graham and the atlantic magazine and ghost of ronald reagan have been permitted to speak for them in bad faith. it' not just conservative voters who don't want war with russia. it's the majority of all voters. people running for the most powerful office that agree with voters, as in a democracy. for the war party in washington, this is a flat out disaster. oh, the people don't want it. we just spent two years lecturing you about democracy, but the bulk of the population and the people they are about to run against joe biden oppose it.
5:05 pm
how can you defend democracy and push a war that the population doesn't want? you can't. so they're panicking. their response is really interesting. instead of responding with arguments or reason, convincing americans that war with russia will benefit them in some way, they're just pushing ahead for that war with russia. they don't care about ukraine at all. ukraine means nothing to them. if it did, they would want to halt the war. apparently more than 100,000 ukrainians have already died. but they don't care. they are keeping the wargoing. that's how much they care about ukraine. so they are pushing us to war. shooting down russian jets that don't fire on us first is an act of war. that's a definition of an act of war. lindsey graham, steeped in all things military, knows that perfectly well. so we asked mr. graham to come on the show to explain why should we start world war iii? he, of course, declined, as he has so many times before. but he doesn't need our help.
5:06 pm
rest of the media everywhere is four squares behind him, as always. here's jeb bush. >> an investigator said to me i think about 18 months ago now that the next russian election interference won't run afoul of any laws. they will just get their signals. questions asked by tucker carlson, there are no accidents here, and answered by ron desantis and donald trump. it's clear who russia would be interested in aiding. >> tucker: so if you disagree with those children, you are committing election interference on behalf of vladamir putin. how low could political rhetoric go? is it possible? that seems to be the name right there. it's election interference to, as a candidate, take a position that's consistent with the majority of voters want.
5:07 pm
wow. if you answer those questions in ways that jeb bush's former press secretary doesn't like, you are a disloyal american. here's more from msnbc. >> desantis wants to appease putin, calling the brutal invasion of ukraine nothing more than a territoryial dispute. the latest sign the party of desantis, trump and tucker is seriously out of touch with the views of most americans. >> ron desantis, who is parenting putin and kremlin talking points by calling russia's invasion of ukraine a, quote, territoryial dispute. >> trump and desantis coming up with anti-ukraine positions, pro russia positions. two republican front runners basically want to run away from zelenskyy and into putin's arms. >> the anti-woke guy, ron desantis, his ideal is putin's russia, where there are no gay people, no women in power, where
5:08 pm
they're all christians. that's how he wants to see the world. >> tucker: so you just wind up in this world where you get moral lectures from former political consultants like stewart stevens. not well situated for moral lectures. you don't want the third world war because you have children or grandchildren? because your own country is in deep trouble. your economy is falling apart so you're not in world war iii against russia and china. but you get a moral lecture from these people? they are getting a moral lecture from the banks. what's interesting there's a lot of news to cover here, news the other news organizations are completely ignoring. they are not even pretending. if you are paying any attention at all, if you thought i'm a journalist, i should cover the news, you might notice getting mixed messages from people in power. for example, here's mark milley today explaining that ukraine is
5:09 pm
armed to the teeth with american weaponry. >> two weeks ago united states released another security assistance package which included ammunition, artillery, vehicle maintenance in vehicles. ukrainian soldiers wear the blue and yellow of the ukrainian flag but the colors of 50 other nations that met today stand beside ukraine to support the principles of the international order. >> tucker: almost want to play the tape again. go back and look at that. that man is afraid. what's he afraid of? what he just told us, we've sent a huge amount of material to ukraine, artillery, munition, the hundred billion. so that would suggest ukrainian military has a lot of weapon, they're well armed. but no. the same time marc milley is telling us that, the pentagon is telling us ukraine is running
5:10 pm
out of munitions. >> there's reports out there from the battlefield that the ukrainians are running out of munitions, they're having shortages. is that a concern for the pentagon? what's the pentagon doing to alleviate that problem? >> as we've been doing since the beginning of this campaign, we're continuing to do everything that we can to ensure that we're meeting ukraine's needs, whether it's ammunition, air defense, armor. you've heard us talk extensively about that. tomorrow's discussion, of course, will be another opportunity to bring the international community together to focus on ukraine's most urgent needs to include ammunition. >> tucker: okay. so leaving aside the fact that the u.s. military probably should have enough of its own ammunition, not invoking ronald reagan. weakness invites aggression. speaking of weakness the u.s. military increasingly is weak. part of the reason -- there are a number of reasons. one is we're sending all the
5:11 pm
stuff to ukraine. there's the military question no one seems to have answered. there's also an economic question. where's all the money going? we've spent more than russia's typical annual military budget in ukraine and yet the ukrainian military is out of ammunition again? okay. that might be a question for zelenskyy. where's all the money going? where's all the money going? people are getting very rich. can't have an audit of where your money is going into the most corrupt country in europe. you are a tool of putin. the media, by the way, isn't mad about the fact our money appears to be disappearing into this sink hole of corruption called ukraine, or being used to close christian churches. no. they're mad because the house speaker, kevin mccarthy, hasn't rushed to kiss the ring of zelenskyy. watch. >> president zelenskyy makes an offer to the u.s. house speaker
5:12 pm
that kevin mccarthy is refusing. >> look at kyiv. he was invited to kyiv by zelenskyy. any other speaker of the house would have obviously gone there to show solidarity with our ally. >> this is all completely kevin mccarthy pandering to extreme wing of his party. >> what is your reaction to kevin mccarthy refusing president zelenskyy's invitation to come to ukraine or discuss with him directly aid to ukraine? >> i don't know what kind of single self-creature he is more like. he is letting down the united states. >> i understand kevin mccarthy again is playing to his isolationist america first which is actually not america first. it's actually america last on the world stage. >> tucker: wow. these people are going to have a lot to answer for. hopefully, soon. imagine how degrading the scenario is.
5:13 pm
they're heckling the speaker of the house. we would defend if the roles were reversed. the democrat speaker of the house. here you have these people, these people on television, scolding the american speaker of the house because he won't suck up to a corrupt foreign leader who is demanding that you send your children to a war in a country you can't find on a map? zelenskyy is on television almost every day that you send your children to war where they could die. people demand you put your children in a position where they could die. not your allies. they're your enemies. yeah. you must kiss his ring because he is a religious figure now. as they were yapping about all of that, they missed some other things that were going on in the united states. for example, the collapse of our economy. the second and third biggest bank failure in the history of
5:14 pm
this country just took place. now credit suisse is down 97% from its all time high, trading for about two swiss francs. you're worried about that? you should be. your leaders aren't worried. the media don't care at all. instead, they're telling you you are a tray tore to your country if you don't want a third world war. they are panicked, just like milley was panicked. why are they afraid? because they know the country is not on their side. the second we go to russia they will use it to crush dissent. there is no dissent in russia's war time. it's about changing the domestic politics of the united states. the second we can all say we are at war with russia, not in effect, but in reality. a hot war, which is what they want. that's the moment you are no longer allowed to express your opinion. penalty is jail during war. that's happened a lot. they want that now.
5:15 pm
hopefully, on the questionnaires we received, other people will take charge soon and save us from this lunacy. doug, thank you very much for coming on. one of the very few people we trust. you've been honest since the beginning and taken abuse for it. where do you think this conflict stands tonight? >> well, the ukrainians are being crushed. even "the washington post" and "the new york times" are finally beginning to print the truth. their casualties are horrific. we have tpbively seen the russians destroy three separate armies built by the ukrainians. and everyone is beginning to wonder what's really happening. the truth is coming out that this war was not started by russia. that russia begged us not to try and drag ukraine into nato. we ignored russia. russia made it very clear that they were going to defend their national interest. all they wanted was neutrality for ukraine. americans know something else. i think somebody said this a few
5:16 pm
years ago. it's the economy, stupid. and every republican candidate understands that and has to win the american people over. the people in washington are worried about their donors. the republican candidates are worried about american voters. >> tucker: to see lindsey graham invoke ronald reagan, who won the cold war with a superior economy and not with tanks. that's true. ignore the fact that our banks are collapsing. how exactly do you think people like every republican center, how do they think we'll be able to afford a war against russia and china simultaneously? >> it's unaffordable. you don't have to lump china with the rest of them. it's impossible. we are on the road to bankruptcy. the american people sense it. the bank bailouts are not going to happen as they did before. the best thing i can think of is to say lindsey graham and his peers in washington, they're not channelling ronald reagan.
5:17 pm
they're channelling the three stooges. the last thing americans need is a war. no more political and military incompetence, ineptitude, corruption. they want an economy that works and they're not gonna stand around and watch the financial system go under. they want real leadership, not a card bore cutout president. >> tucker: if we actually follow lindsey graham's advice and attack the russian air force and became embroiled in a hot war with russia, how long before you were arrested, do you think, for saying what you just did? >> i don't know. i'm less concerned about that than the possibility that we would actually provoke a confrontation with the russians. what have we already seen, tucker? they are already to fight. they are partially mobilized. they'll put millions of men into the field quickly. we're not in a position to do that. we can't even recruit for our armed forces. the left has destroyed the united states armed forces.
5:18 pm
who are we kidding? our stocks that we build up over years with ammunition and equipment, they're exhausted. we haven't even gone to war. this is lunacy. >> tucker: it is lunacy. it is lunacy. and no one calls it out. doug macgregor thank you for your clarity. >> thank you. >> tucker: so, as we told you, there are very serious things happening in the banking sector that suggests problems in other parts of the country. credit suisse is in trouble tonight. david fax will explain why this is happening and what it means. he joins us next.

5:22 pm
5:23 pm
>> tucker: in less than a week silicon valley bank collapsed, signature bank. of course, everybody is concerned this is part of a trend that will tank the u.s. economy. today the credit suisse has been struggling. last year they reported a net loss $8 billion largest since 2008. late today the swiss national bank said it will support credit suisse. that's good apparently. but the over all picture is scary. how did this happen?
5:24 pm
what exactly are we watching? nice to be joined by someone who has been in this world for a long time. co-founder of pay pal. he joins us. thank you very much for coming on. i'm just gonna stand back and let you explain what you think is causing this. >> well, tucker, i think what's going on here, there's a bunch of issues that were particular to credit suisse. they had a series of scandals and compliance issues and executive changes over the past few years. there is a common pattern. these banks are under tremendous stress. if there's weaknesses they are getting flushed out. deposits are leaving quickly. all these banks are sort of interlinked. this is where you get systemic risk. what is causing this stress? i would say the reason for the stress is that we've had this rate tightening cycle for the last year.
5:25 pm
it's the fastest time that interest rates have been hiked by the fed in our entire life times. what caused that? it was the worst inflation in 40 years. this is basically what is putting tremendous stress on the whole banking system is that rates have gone up so violently and so suddenly that deposits are leaving because they're going to money market funds. but also assets on the books that were supposed to be saved by longated bond, t bills, mortgage bonds. i think everybody is trying to understand how deep this problem goes. it's good in a sense that, you know, whether it's the swiss government or the fed is kind of taking steps to intervene and prevent this. we've had such bad fed policy for the last number of years now that it's entirely too little too late. >> tucker: can i ask you to pause. i think you described it well, back to inflation.
5:26 pm
we had scary inflation about a year ago. what caused that inflation? let's go even farther back, if you don't mind. >> what causes inflation is money printing and excessive spending. we have trillions and trillions of dollars being spent and printed out of washington. this started even before the biden administration. biden really took it to a new level. remember in the first quarter of his presidency, we had the american rescue plan which is $22 trillion of covid relief because it was wind down. the economy already recovered and was hot. even larry summers warned him. said listen, this risks inflation. sure enough the inflation came just four months later. what did they do? they said it was transitory, a big lie. biden yellen said this is transitory so they could keep spending money. the fed kept printing. i would say that six months really created the bubble of 2021. the markets got super frothy. that's when tons of sort of hot
5:27 pm
deposits went into svb and other banks. it took the risk to another level. in other words, these guys ran the economy at 150 miles an hour and then slammed on the brakes. what you are seeing now is the resulting car crash. the only thing we don't know is if this is a two car crash or 20 car pileup on the highway. if they had just acted the summer of 2021 when you first got that inflation, 5.1%. if they had said, okay. we have a problem. this is not transitory. it's real. if they started raising rates then, they could have done it more gradually. we wouldn't have needed such a violent cycle of interest rate hikes that have now basically caused this enormous stress on the banking system. >> tucker: so nicely put. thank you for bringing it back to that. all of this feels like the product of distortion of our economy by washington. david sack, appreciate you
5:28 pm
coming on. >> thanks, tucker. >> tucker: one of many lies -- hard to keep track of them. fed secretary said the border is completely secure. now the chief of the border patrol contradicted that. for that story trace gallagher joins us. >> you could not have gone to the biggest bridge and yelled liar liar. it is a blow to the administration. raul ortiz denied the dhs secretary mayorkas and president biden by saying this. >> does dhs have operational control of our entire border? >> no, sir. >> you heard the secretary. he said we have operational control. that's the definition -- >> based upon the definition you, sir, up there, no. we don't have operational control. no, sir. >> there was more. chief ortiz also said the border
5:29 pm
is not secure. he defended the horse back rider who was accused of whipping migrants. then he came after this administration and supporting the previous administration saying it was a mistake to stop building the wall. trump's wall. chief ortiz also pleaded for congress to give him more border agents and asked for the tools to deliver consequences. that's important, right? for 26 months millions of migrants have crossed the border and received zero consequence. the chief told lawmakers this fiscal year alone, 385,000 illegal immigrants have evaded border patrol. those are people border agents tried to catch but didn't. an additional 79,000 snuck into the country completely undetected. the final blow might be the chief's language, where contrary to secretary mayorkas, ortiz referred to the border situation a, quote, crisis. much more on this tonight on fox

hi, i'm jill and i've lost 56 pounds on golo. hi, i'm barry and i've lost 42 pounds. jill and i are a team. if she tells me to do something, i usually jump on board. golo was doable, it's realistic, and it's something we can do the rest of our lives. >> tucker: chase mccall is a marine safety officer with a fire department in long peach. he was along the beach when someone told him about a dog in the water. a dog had been swept off shore into the pacific. chase mccall got on his paddle board and went and rescued the dog. another officer guided mccall to
5:36 pm
the dog. chase mccall joins us with the dog he rescued tofu. thank you both for coming on. chase, how far out was this dog? >> i would say tofu was swimming maybe 200, to 300 odds off shore. >> tucker: what tofu doesn't look like a retrieving dog. how did tofu get 300 dogs off shore? do you know? >> i heard reports from patrons they had been chasing her around trying to catch her for an hour or so in the parking lot. i guess she just jumped in the water and took off towards, out to sea. >> tucker: how did she respond when you tried to pull her on to your paddle board? >> i think she was grateful to see me there and little relieved. she looked a little tired and cold and came right up to me and made it easy for me to grab her and put her on the board. >> tucker: dogs are famously know how to swim but they can
5:37 pm
drown, right? >> oh, yes, tkefr nately. >> tucker: is this common? have you rescued other dogs from the pacific? >> we've had a few incidences where we've rescued dogs from the water. it happens. not too often but it does happen for us. >> tucker: what did the owner say when you brought tofu back? >> so we didn't really talk to the owner until the next day. we handed tofu off to animal care services, and through social media, the owner was able to get the contact info on where she was being held. so the next day when i met the owner, they were really grateful and just, everyone was so happy that this was a success story. >> tucker: are you a dog lover? >> i am. >> tucker: i can tell by the way you touch that dog. good for you. chase mccoll, thanks for coming on tonight. appreciate it.
5:38 pm
>> thank you. thank you for having me. >> tucker: so something really scary is going on with the banking system. lindsey graham was pushing us toward russia. joe biden is giving interview to comedy central. he claims he started supporting gay marriage in the united states when he saw two men kissing in wilmington delaware in the 1960s. in the 1960s in wilmington delaware, that kind of thing happened all the time. here's joe biden. >> i can remember exactly when my epiphany was. i haven't thought much about it. i was a senior in high school. my dad was dropping me off. i remember about to get out of the car and i looked to my right and two well dressed men in suits kissed each other. they gave each other a kiss. then one went, looked like he was heading to the dupont building, the other hercules corporation building.
5:39 pm
i'll never forget i turned and looked at my dad. he said, joey. it's simple. they love each other. >> tucker: it's 1959 in wilmington. two men are just kissing each other on the street and joe biden's dad, who sold used car, joey, it's simple. they love each other. of course nelson mandela was in the car, too. what are the chances joe biden would have thrown a beer bottle, full beer bottle, at those dudes? right around 100% you would think. obviously it's a lie. we know it's a lie but a biden gave interviews more recently than 60 years ago. he said actually he was totally opposed to marriage. we have the tape. here biden from 2006. >> we already have a law, defense of marriage act. we all voted. look marriage is between a man and woman and states must respect that. nobody's violated that law. there's been no challenge to
5:40 pm
that law. why do we need a constitutional amendment? marriage is between a man and woman. >> tucker: mad. what kind of screaming nasty bigot do you think joe biden was 60 years ago? chances of that very, very high. 100%. he was a pioneer in the late 1950s on gay marriage. joey, they love each other. what do you think of that? >> only took him 50 years to work up the courage to stop being a bigot and finally admit that in 2012. it's interesting because he offered us a couple interesting data points that demonstrate this is a complete lie. the fact checker decided to check this and said we can't render any pinnochios. i will help you. in the audio you just played he claims he was being dropped off at high school in his senior
5:41 pm
year. that would be 1961. he sees two men kiss. he turned to his father bewildered. they said they love each other. they walked their own ways. one to dupont building and one to the hercules building. the dupont building is 7.1 miles away from his high school. in other words, he was dropped off seven miles away from high school. there's no way this happened. the hercules building, for that matter, the version of it that's in wilmington was built in 1983. he's having all sorts of details that help demonstrate that he's lying. he's told this story many times, but every time he adds new details. sometimes he's the father in the story. sometimes he is applying to become a life guard. sometimes he's just sitting with his dad having a grand old time and they're watching the men
5:42 pm
kiss and learning about life. i was wondering if there is one -- speaking as an italian american, if there's a chance this is true, wilmington delaware is an italian american place or has been in the past. maybe he just saw two italian americans kissing in 1961, greeting between brother, or kiss of death, a la the godfather part 2. >> tucker: but every story that biden tells puts himself at the center that he is always the hero fighting for civil rights in wilmington delaware 60 years ago. this seems to me like the behavior of someone who is kind of guilty about how he behaved in 1961 in wilmington. what are the chances that he was the most prolific user of racial slurs? >> was joe biden a retrograde in 1961? absolutely. there's no question about it. his career involved his close
5:43 pm
relationship with segregationists and former members of the ku klux klan. not like he was some great enlightened thinker. there's something to this gay marriage thing. in congressional testimony he suggested gay people were a security risk to the country by being in the military. that was much more recently than 1961. >> tucker: he didn't say it's love. the sad thing is there are people who will believe that, msnbc viewers. vince, great to see you tonight. thank you. equity isn't just for banks at the pentagon. all medicine, the largest representative representing surgeries say surgery is racist. one surgeon join us next. get refunds.com powered by innovation refunds can help your business get a payroll tax refund,

>> tucker: if you're an 18-year-old american thinking about going to college to become a doctor or vet or architect, probably not a bad idea. if you don't know what you want to study, you might not want to go to college in the first place. but how do you think about what you should do?
5:49 pm
a man called ken rust was a business owner and advocate for blue collar jobs that thought a lot about how to make those decisions. sat down for an episode of tucker carlson today. he told us here's how young people should think about their lives. interesting. >> nobody ever looks at somebody and says, i'm totally interested in what your future looks like to you. i want to see you break your life down into a million little pieces and get those piece one step at a time and here's how we're going to do it. draw what your favorite house might look like. drive your favorite mode of transportation. car, buck, truck, whatever. then i want you to draw your best give back moment. if you had an extra 100 bucks what would you do with it? i want you to draw your favorite
5:50 pm
