of these violate crimes will not prosecute and take penalties down for them. so i don't put much stock into him as d.a.. but look, i've been through presidential campaigns in the past there's a lot we dongt know and not sure how this will affect it over next 72 hours and several months. it's the old mike tyson quote everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face so over course of the next 72 hours a lot to be learned. >> brad. >> i couldn't agree more presidential election is political lifetimes away. from today, but you know say what you will about this prosecutor and regard legislation how you feel about him this is a jury. a grand jury that has been presented evidence that if they decide there's enough evidence worthy of allowing a trial to come forward, then that is -- that's regardless of the prosecutor that's a jury of everyday working american who is think there's enough evidence for a crime. and therefore he should go to trial so let's keep in mind what we're talking about here.

the chief to -- there's no control as well as border security, really goes to show you the fact that because of these policies that's where we're seeing this massive increase mass migration as well as drugs across the border and also how the cartels have been able to become even more powerful than ever before. >> we've had here in just this rgv sector a sorning of nationals coming not just mexican nationals, not just central americans, but some 09 chinese and more than 1600 just in this sector since october of last year. what do you make of that? >> well, of course, you know chinese nationals are, it is a lucrative commodity for the smuggling organization that's what they refer to them is a commodity able to extend their services further out into other countries that's where we see an increase in chinese national and able to charge from 35,000 to 55,000 a person it is a lucrative business that's why i believe we have chinese

statement from the mexican president and fentanyl poisoning but we know for a fact what it is coming across the border as well as other elicit draings, of course, mexican drug cartels are behind this entire process. that's why we see ouch is a mass production of fentanyl that's coming across and even though we may see significant seizures at the point of entry that tells us one that i think cartels are producing even more fentanyl than ever before an one thing at the state level and governor abbott did last year was to designate at terrorist organizations that is now required at the federal level we need a federal response to graph organizations to dismantle labs in mexico and stop the flow of chemical precursors allowing to mass produce daily poison and another note most recently texas senate passed a bill to go after anyone who districts fentanyl cause death to charge them bhurd here in texas and governor made it clear anyone who kills texans

week. for more on the banking crisis fears, and persistent inflation by principal university of san diego research fellow mitch rochelle thank you for being here. let's start off the bat you've got big banks now putting in $30 billion to save first republic a regional bank. i'm -- what do you make of this effort to do that by the big banks and did this process of saving svb by and signature bank, did the government just now precipitate the death of this bank in the country forever? >> perhaps so i'll break it down to two pieces. the banks that bailed out first republic and full disclosure have been accounted for first republic but the banks that bailed out first republic it was in their interest and headed to a crisis i know -- and none of those banks that bailed out first republic want a

run on their own bank so i think stemming the flood waters and trying to calm things down was in their interest. but speaking of big banks jamie diamond famously said after the financial crisis when dodd-frank was rolled out he said this is potentially for smaller banks because owner restrictions for compliance and regulations that is put on banks it make it is virtually impossible for smaller banks to comply because they couldn't afford infrastructure to comply. and i think that's a precursor to where we are today. which is we're going to have haves and have notes and really, really big banks and virtually impossible for small banks to compete. >> yeah. you know former ftic chair, sheila bair said with the government shawf done here is put a full blanket backstop assuring all deposits at all banks that congress should have done that instead of just deciding to assure that deposits

and signature bank because what the government has now done is created this environment where normal people aren't sure if their accounts are going to be protected at regional community banks what do you make of that? >> you know, there was a soundbite that came out last weekend which is not -- not a dollar of taxpayer money will be used. and once they made that, you know, absolute statement then it sort of precluded congress from stepping in and doing bryan what you just suggested. i sort of push back on that comment because if you have the ftic back stock deposits for one bank and lead to two or three those cost inevitably passed along to depositors and customers of those banks so the taxpayers are paying for it. but once they cut congress out of the loop, and decide to do this the way they did, we're sort of down a slippery slope of, you know, not enough and we're probably going to have to do more.

>> okay. let's ask, talk about inflation real quick here. 6% inflation right now the fed meeting on wednesday to decide whether or not to raise interest rates. do you think that they should raise interest rates like the european central bank did despite this? or do you think that they should put a pause given the financial instability of the banks? >> i would say no to raising rates. however, the problem is the markets and i'm not talking just about stock markets i'm talking about thes entire economies, hangs on jerome powell's every word and if it says pump brakes he's signaling that he know that the banking is system more at risk. so he'll probably go forward. but it's higher interest rates in the rapidly rising interest rates over the last year that contributed greatly to problem we're in right now. >> mitch what are you going to be looking at this week and do you think the worst is behind us once you see one cockroach you know the saying when there's one rock roach there's many.
