donald j. trump for the entire hour on camera right here on "hannity." >> that's all the time we have left. in the meantime, let's not your heart be troubled. let's give a warm welcome to the great laura ingraham. >> hi, everybody. >> hi sean. [applause] >> may i make an announcement to the audience? >> laura wants to make an announcement to the audience. >> i would make everybody in the audience tonight gets a football and a free beer. [applause] >> everybody have a football, holdup your football. >> okay, you got to give them beer. sean has a keg but don't worry,
7:01 pm
it is light beer so y'all would be fine. [applause] >> great to see everybody. sean, great show. >> i love you, too. have a great show. >> i am laura ingraham. this is "the angle tonight. the tiktok party. mr. china came to washington today and it was quite spectacle. >> we have heard important concerns of unwanted foreign access u.s. data and potential manipulation of the tiktok u.s. system. our approach have never been dismissed of any of these concerns. >> can you do surveillance of other americans? >> we'll protect the u.s. user data and fire it off of foreign access is the commitment we give to the committee. >> i want to hear you say that neither tiktok employees can

target americans with similar techniques as you did with the journalists. >> i don't agree with the characterization. that's a commitment that we'll not be influenced with any government. >> the doj is investigating this surveillance right now. a ban is a short way to address tiktok. the data privacy is the only way from stopping tiktok from happening in the united states. >> your parent company can access user's data, yes? >> we have to be specific. >> yes? i am not asking after project. i am asking now, yes? >> some user data is public, congresswoman. >> what's interesting to me is you have used the word transparency over half a dozen times. the interesting thing is parent company have gone out of their way to hide an air brush, corporate structure ties to the ccp.
7:03 pm
>> that was wild. now, it was back in july of 2020. i don't know if you remember this but i pressed the former cia director and trump's secretary of state, mike pompeo on the threat posed by tiktok. >> should we be considering right now, tonight a ban on chinese social media apps especially tiktok? >> i don't want to get in front of the president but it is something we are looking at. >> would you recommend people downloading on your phone tonight or tomorrow? >> only if you want your information in the hands of the chinese government party. >> one month after that interview aired, president trump signed an executive order that would have banned tiktok in the united states. in june of 2021, biden reversed the ban. since the intel of assessment of tiktok, it had only got worse.
7:04 pm
>> that's a loaded gun. >> why had biden reverse course? first because china owns biden. biden's record, his family is making big money there. biden's team is doing everything in his power to suck up to chia daily. so, why would biden risk offending his benefactor over some stupid app? china's army of high-paying lobbyist and consultants, and former congressmen, they're crawling capitol hill flexing their muscles and making their case. these people were what trump referring to when he said draining the swamp. they're fine selling out the country as long as that monthly checks does not bounced and

there is that senior staff at tiktok itself. >> do you agree that the chinese government has persecuted the uighur population? >> if you use the app - >> that's not my question. >> it is concerning to hear about all the human rights abuse. >> i think you are being invasive. it is a pretty easy question. >> congresswoman, i am here to describe tiktok and what we do as a platform. >> and tiktok had a public policy. you saw him sitting behind mr. chew today in the hearing with a smug look on his face. here he was three months ago on cnn. >> do you acknowledge the chinese government has these

uighurs information -- >> you can find all these contents on tiktok. why don't you acknowledge that? >> i am not an expert on what's happening in china. >> how is beckerman different from any members o f the senior party at this point? as as as long long tiktok is o the ccp has backup on information. p rp>> engineers currently access of u.s. data. >> this is a complex topic. >> it is not complex, yes or no, do they have access for user data? >> the answer is no. >> today there is some data -- >> yes, we heard from the ranking member and he does not
7:07 pm
see that project texas is going to be useful. >> well, this is ludicrous. at think time of day or night, now and a year from now, president xi or any ccp officials can demand user data, and he'll be given user data. in fact, even chew could not deny top staff are in fact members of the communist party. >> logic would tell us there are fair number of the employees of the chinese communist party at least a dozen or so who have access to this data. is that so? >> again, like i said -- i can ask one or two people. we don't have a policy. >> so sleazy. even though we knew china was stealing users' data, we allowed tiktok reach to mestasticised. this begs the question, why did
7:08 pm
we even need a congressional hearing at this point no matter what chew says about corporate firewall and transparency. he ultimately answers to the ccp. he slips off and he knows just like other ceos he could be disappeared over night. >> in principles, we want to provide a good experience for users in general. we put in more restrictions to make sure our teenagers get better experience. the majority of the people using our platform using it for a positivity experience. >> yeah, the uighurs are having a positive experience. when we didn't want to answer the questions -- >> would you commit to not selling your data to anyone? >> i can get back to you on the specifics. i don't have the specifics. congressman, i need to check on these specifics. i need to look at the specifics of the report, congressman and i can get back to you on that. i want to be precise and i will

get back to you. >> all day long. mr. chew labored to reassure the committee that tiktok is working hard on their new corporate plan to court off the operation from prying on. >> we have design project texas to protect users' interests and moving for ward here in tust. the protection is storing american data on american soils and looked out by american personnel. >> now, let's scramble this day off and all out. tiktok proposed a $1.5 billion corporate organization, kept on referring it to project texas. very clever and insisting all data would be stored in the tust. as he said those servers would be run at americans at oracle. after studying that proposal, the committee on foreign investment said, that proposal failed to address the data vulnerability issue. only getting the company out of chinese hands would address that

problem. >> any organizations or citizens shall support or cooperate and also tiktok employees that live in china must cooperate with chinese intelligence when they are called upon. >> first, congressman, i am -- >> there are employees of yours and they are in china. >> we built something where we take that data out of reach. >> even democrats didn't seem to be buying it today. >> mr. chew is creepy and not credible. >> i believe that the beijing communist government was still controlled and have the ability to influence what you are doing. you are trying to give the impression that you are a good actor but the commitments that we would seek to achieve those goals are not being made. >> throughout the day and it was very long and getting hammered
7:11 pm
by both parties. the london and harvard educated mr. chew kind of kept his cool. he knew in the end that biden would never sign a bill banning tiktok. it was a few weeks ago that the white house had come up a middle ground. that would nullify concerns of both parties in america of the country. so much for compromising with the chinese. hours before the hearing, china gave the symbolic finger to biden and saying it was rejecting the idea of selling tiktok. i wonder why? now, with the establishment ever learn that you can't meet china halfway on any issue like this. their aim is simple. it is to conner the united states in any way they ultimately can through influence, presence, what have you. and, this would mean it would be fine for many in the regime media, by the way, who seemed to

already given up on america. check out how "the new york times" facing the question whether to ban tiktok. "the new york times" now have tiktok account, meaning shutting down the app could appear to shutting down the spread of fact-based news to counter chinese disinfo.. well, "the new york times" will ever be a reliable counter to china is laughable. plus, remember all their efforts to counter, so-called covid misinformation? the only answer is to force biden's hand. congress must immediately pass legislation to ban the tiktok app in the united states, long since time. then, biden can choose to protect the priority of the ccp or the concerns of the american

people. that's "the angle," joining me now is josh hawley. thank you for being with us tonight. there are a few questions i know you had after watching today for the ceo were not asked in this very long hearing today. give me one of them. >> well, one of them is how many communist chinese party members can access american user data. we know the answer to that, laura. whistle blowers have come forward to my office and other offices and said the answer is virtually unlimited numbers. we know. it does not matter where you put the data, by the way, it matters who can access it. the members of a chinese party can access americans data right now. this is happening in the back door of beijing into our private lives and our personal security. we need to ban it. >> they didn't get really much of an answer. now, at one point chew tried to
7:14 pm
convince congress that the ccp had just minimal access to these chinese companies. watch this. >> it is not controlled by the chinese government. it is a private company. 60% of the company is owned by global institutional investors. 20% is owned by the founders and 20% owned by the owners around the world. the board members, three of them are americans. >> senator, what do you have that? >> it does not matter who owns the company. it matters who controls it and influences it. there is no private company. every corporate is subject to china's security law which forces these companies to turn over any information the beijing government wants at the whim of the beijing government. that means america users data. that's why american journalists are being tracked by china. if you got tiktok on your phone,
7:15 pm
china can track your locations and key strokes and read your phones and messages and contact list. all of this stuff because the ccp effectively controls all major corporations in china and that absolutely includes tiktok. >> mr. chew refers to the fact quickly in his opening statement that the app does not exist within china. the app does not operate within china itself. i was surprised that more of that was not made at the hearing itself, senator hawley, why? if it is such a great app, why don't the chinese people are access to it? >> exactly. the reason is this app is basically digital fentanyl. that's what it is. it is not designed to make our lives better. it is designed to disrupt and get into our kids' heads. you look at the amount of suicide promotional materials that's on tiktok. some of that was brought up.
7:16 pm
as a parent of three little kids, i don't want my kids on tiktok. that app is by design to get into our kids' heads and by design to push this content to them. that's what they are doing here. that's why the chinese government won't allow it. they of course want americans to use it because they want to disrupt our society and they want a back door into everything we are doing and everything we are seeing and going. that's what tiktok is. >> senator, there was a question raised about how the data in the messaging can be manipulated, watch. >> is disagree with fbi director wray and nsa director when they say the ccp could have the capability to manipulate data and send it to the united states, do you disagree with their statement? >> the statement is could. >> do you disagree with that? >> no, i don't disagree with that. >> what about that? that's a pretty good moment.
7:17 pm
>> that's the truth, the ccp has access right now to any data they want that belongs to us. that's why i say this is a back door for the beijing government into our private lives and into our personal security and the heads of our children. we got to close that door. the only thing to do, laura, is to ban it. you mentioned the biden administration, tiktok is not stupid. they went out and hired a pr firm that was founded by biden administration people. they are trying to purchase the democratic party right now. why are all these corporate media outlets rehearsing tiktok? tiktok is out there pushing this and buying influence of the democratic party. let's put it to a vote. let's just see what the tally is. let's see who's willing to ban this thing. >> senator, thank you very much. separate from the national security and data collection concerns is what tiktok is doing to our kids. >> last year a federal judge in pennsylvania found that section 230 protected tiktok from being

h hh hheld responsible for a a ten-year-old girl, participated in a blackout challenge also known as a choking challenge. section 230 was never intended to shield companies like yours from amplifying dangerous and life-threatening contents to children. do you consider this to be a good faith moderation? >> section 230 is very complex. >> yes or no? >> we are very focused on safety. >> joining me now, the founder of the law off movement. she testified in front of the senate committee about the harm of social media. thank you for being with us tonight, emma. do you believe what the ceo says that tiktok is very focused and is all about safety. >> thank you for having me. i think tiktok begins to take t

seriously when they begin to fall into the national landscape. a lot of these harms have been experienced for years across the platform, they can be seen in the case of the ten-year-old girl who sadly passed away before these tiktok challenges. i think a lot of these actions are too little and too late. >> well, tiktok's ceo touted some of the app's protective measures they claim that we are going to keep teens out of trouble. >> we spent a lot of time protecting teenagers. many of those measures are first for the social media industry. we forbid direct messaging for people under 16. we have a 16-minute watch time by default. we have parent tools so parents can participate in their teens experiences. >> emma, 60-minute rule. how many kids are abiding the 60-minute rule. does that work? i am just laughing because i

know it does not work. >> n > not many, laura. it is like when apple put on the screen time and you can easily navigate around it. any change to help protect children is necessary and welcome. it is like putting a band aid around a much larger issue here. we are facing an issue where online spaces are not safe. we need to take regulatory action to make those spaces safer because these companies can't self-regulate as we have seen. >> emma, how addicting of tiktok. you are of the generation, i see kids squirrelling it at the coffee shop, it seems like for hours. >> you know, laura, i can only speak to my personal experience and what i see around me. what i can say it is by far one of the most addicting a and -- that's the reason why i

biden's approval rating sits at 38%. joinings us now is newt gingrich, our former speaker of the house. newt, what's the heck is going on here? the state of the union was quite a while ago, was it? >> well, look, i think the gap between biden's fantasy world and the real world is getting wider. -- the fact is there are a lot of democrats who would like to run, none of them are particularly scared of biden. none of them are taking him on until something happens because he's the president, he's spending trillions of dollars and he has the entire machinery of the federal government. on the other hand, i suspect more and more democrats probably realize that he can't win the next election.

he's not going to be able to hide in the basement or the rose garden. we are going to see more things like the recent bank failures. we'll see more problems and we'll see more compounding effects of millions of illegal immigrants. all of this is going to pose a huge challenge. in 1964, lyndon johnson, won a enormous reelection writing off the tragedy of john f. kennedy having been assassinated. four years later, the opposition of johnson was enough that he announced he would not run for reelection. so, i think at the certain thing here, if you get into the first one or two primaries and anybody runs against biden and his 38% approval, what's going to happen in that primary? the odds are very high that biden is going to start losing. so, every month that goes by,

his cognitive problem gets bigger. every month that goes by, it is more embarrassing. the only thing that makes biden currently survivable is kamala harris is so much worse. >> speaking of which, newt. let me get into what reuter is getting in the tonight. they're saying kamala and biden having a complicated history. a point of tension in the relationship is that i don't think the president sees her as somebody who takes anything off of his plate, adding a fear of messing up led harris late to the game on important issues. newt, they seem like they're looking for a way out of the kamala tramp. >> laura, you can't set things up like this. you know kamala harris is a joke. every time you watch her, she's
