[laughter] >> who gets it? will: rachel hasn't even flynn. ed. rachel: and he drank milk and i didn't. will: whisker bomb.com -- >> rachel, i think you win the trophy. you're a trooper. [cheers and applause] will: see you tomorrow, everybody. massive powerful deadly destruction mississippi after two catastrophic tornadoes pour across the state overnight. here's what we know right now. at least 23 are dead and dozens injured. officials hearing those numbers require much higher once a search and rescue crews are getting to their destination. stuff so hold the destruction. emergency workers clearing roads and restoring power for more than 14000 in the state. if they are left try to pick up the pieces from twisters that
7:01 am
ripped across more than 100-mile path. that is in just one state. one resident in roland park mississippi said the town is gone. welcome everybody. it's good to be with you on this tragic day after a storm, a series of storms that hit much of the southeast. we'll be focusing on mississippi in just a second work most of this wrath played out. right now i want to go to well who is in texas who got this nasty weather so the states try to dig out as well. what is it look like there? >> our damage here does not compare it's not in the league where neighbors are seeing. for the navels and check neighbors here in tennessee where i am this morning it is a lot to deal with an elective process. we think straight-line winds are the culprit or the national weather service was inc. 60 -- 70 mile-per-hour wind gusts and brought them several shops outdoor buildings like we are seeing here we have neighbors spending their morning out comforting at one another, going
7:02 am
through these areas that have been damaged and trying to really assess now that we have daylight, the full scope of what happened here but with thousands of people throughout tennessee straight-line winds absolute made a big impact on the electric grid here. that's going to take some time in this community where i am this morning at least half of this entire county is without power. utility crews say because of the size of the power poles brought down here was going to be through the weekend. we do have several homes without roofs here. with outbuildings destroyed pre-that's the type of damage we are seeing on the tennessee side of things. there is never a tornado warning issued here. we did have the stroke wind gusts associate with the severe thunderstorm warning that we think he did a lot of this damage but of course the national weather service is going to get assessing this to get their official information ruling on what likely happened in this scenario. a lot of pain this morning not only here in the tennessee side of things but just absolutely unbelievable images coming in from our neighbors in mississippi, neil.
7:03 am
then four thank you very much, keep us updated my friend. this was a spot mississippi did receive the brunt of it. do want to remind you this extended not only into tennessee and alabama, but as we speak we have got some thunderstorm weekend warnings i had for texas and alabama, georgia, louisiana course mississippi and tenn tennessee. rick is keeping track of all this, looks like a monster. brexit happened most go through 10 hours of darkness before the sun came up just about two hours ago there across places like rolling fork which is the first time to get hit by this tornado today. very good weather, great news for the search and rescue efforts in cleanup efforts that will be going on here. 80 degrees and rolling fork, tomorrow's severe weather begins to move back in. just to the south of this area. we might see a few showers here
7:04 am
and then monday things will clear as well. take a look at this 40 tornado warnings in the last 24 hours. you see these lines cutting across northern mississippi. it's one of the cells a likely staying on the ground for probably 90 miles as wilt was saying we will investigate and see exactly the details of that. one very large tornado on the ground for a long ways. certainly we had a tornado warning to the southwest of alabama, about 30 minutes ago that storm has weekend. but today a few severe storms again. maybe a tornado or two. nothing like the size or strength of the tourney as we saw yesterday but area scrubs part of southeast we will see that. maybe even we have a chance of that with places like lake erie. southeast tomorrow better chance of severe weather moves in. many receive the bread a chance of that could be better chance for a little bit of hail and some strong winds.
7:05 am
rainfall still to come some spots by the time we get to my date maybe two -- 3 inches here. we have a lot of flooding with the storm that moved through yesterday brought down some rapid heavy rainfall and caused some flooding. but right there were rolling fork is most of the precipitation stays south of it and that's good news. one last thing a quick look of the ahead we have a really active severe weather ear so far. next a big chance of severe weather starts thursday. four -- five days here and then we are already watching the next-door movie across port of the southern plains and that's going to be for thursday this coming week. >> well, no rest for the weary. rick thank you for that. this sums it up it has destroyed the city of rolling fork. that was a comment from that city's mayor. he has been everywhere overnight enjoins us right now, taking the time to assess where we stand,
7:06 am
mayor very good to have you. that pretty much summed up the breadth of the damage you saw was it look like now in the daylight? >> in the daylight looks nothing like it did early last night after the storm. we can see all of the damage that has taken place. my community is devastated at this point. we have folks who are injured. i have friends that i have lost and families that are displaced. right now we are working real hard to make sure those families that are displaced in the children, we are taking care of them and get what they need at this point. looking into my left and looking to my right all i see is devastated buildings, flats and grounds physical buildings used to stand. it is a terrible situation here.
7:07 am
>> and mayer, tornadoes happen of course tornado emergencies were announced last night. there was not a whole lot of time to prepare, was there? >> no. the storm came in quickly. once we got the notice which was on television and some of the chatter with the sheriff and police department if i was able to get on my radio. the time that was on the storm had hit. it was so quick we did not have -- it was quick it was hard to prepare for it. it just happened so fast. it happened so fast and it did so much damage. neil: writes, that looks like complete and total destruction. there's very little little left there from their ports we are getting and what you have been
7:08 am
sharing. that is pretty sweeping and pretty quick. >> yes, pretty sweeping strong storm that stayed on the ground throughout my whole community as a result of that you know, we are where we are right now. we are going to come together in the sitting of rolling fork. we are resilient were going to build the community back to it was. as a matter fact to make it a better community for a lot of people. >> i have no doubt about that, mayor it's interesting to we heard the national weather service thunderstorm warnings this entire weekend as if the poor folks do not have enough to deal with, how are they dealing with all of this and yourself? >> well, we are just trying to make sure to do all we can for displaced families.
7:09 am
and to get them someplace comfortable where they can at least be comfortable. aside from that we are just sharing with them to hang tough. we are going to weather the storm. that is all we can do right now. our community is in an uproar. but we are going to have to work together as a team. i'm fortunate enough in the community is fortunate enough to have good volunteers who have come in from all communities, to greenville, the washington county area, the warren county area. the madison county area. we've got volunteers on the ground boots on the ground. we are just thankful these are here. with that kind of work and that kind of help we can make it. neil: absolutely. got a pretty good mayor to looking out for them. mayor thank you very much for taking the time we appreciate it. >> thank you sir.
7:10 am
neil: in the meantime you know in disasters like the strike the cajun navies always nearby. in fact right now they are th there. it's the cajun navy president kind enough to join us. how did things look there? >> pretty bad situation as the mayor said. daylight came this morning it's reality is set in how devastating the jump on tonight's of years ago, mayfield, kentucky turn as of 21 it's similar to that. it was a pretty wide a storm. we are told it's this white across the entire length but it's 100 miles wide for the storm activity got wider still. it always did a great deal of damage. but with power out how you reach a lot of these people? a lot of people are stuck. eighty-five -- 100 miles.
7:11 am
neil: incredible. so, to get to them find it amazing with tweeter power outages logged in littered with roads you manage to do that. what are you seeing? tell us a little bit about what folks need there, how you're trying to get them out there, rescue them and all about. >> we have kind of a two prong attack to this. first of all we have a lot of search still going on with recovery and rescue. we have six dogs for for mississippian jew from louisiana that are actively involved in searching right now. unfortunately i think the total is going to rise a little more. there are still people missing. it is just devastation everywhere. the other thing we do supplies for you can see behind of an 18 wheeler loaded here with gatorade, diapers, food, snacks, we just want to get everybody comfortable for a few days as the mayor said.
7:12 am
neil: the mayor was saying he heard him as wealth almost unrecognizable there, the city, the town was virtually entirely destroyed. so, to reach those people and get them to safety word you bring them and where is the safest place to go? >> right now there is a tractor supply on the highway up there when there is a staging area for everybody is at. right now we have teams for survivors there pulling out and we have groups taken them on atvs or trucks back to the temporary staging area where right now we are trying to get as many survivors out as we can. once we get them to that temporary staging. right there, we make sure their food, water and stuffer their babies if they need it. right now we are ill in a rush to get the remaining survivors out. >> i am sure, you do the lord's work. we heard about these tornado
7:13 am
emergencies that were announced last night and believe 8:00 p.m. central time, your time. people really did not have enough time because no servant was emergency warning relayed, then it was on. could you tell us a little bit about how it all went down? >> yes. we kind of had our advance warning five or six days ago there's going to be a system to come to the area. twenty-four hours ago we had pinpointed the greenville area, mississippi which is a little bit south of where rolling rock is. the problem is tornadoes are different that her name. can you can prepare ahead of time you notes coming to your area you can move and get away. the problem with our tornado is there's no place to go sometimes. and unfortunately this is just nature and there's not not much you can do. >> you are doing a lot and a lot of your men and women help you
7:14 am
out these men and women and their kids are looking to the savior right now and i can see why. thank you very, very much for that. we want updates on some other information concerning the swath of storms. as i said this tornado watch that was in effect had gotten very little advance warning. there was a fear this type of activity would sort of light up the skies. but not to the degree we ultimately saw. we do know of one tornado that did touch down as well in the fort worth, texas area. i named as i mentioned a little bit earlier, this is a busy season is trying to seize it. severe tornado season goes to march, april, may. often times it extends well beyond that. we can tell you right now they've already prepared other states in and around mississippi to be prepared for a busy thunderstorm activity. that was for the states of alabama, parts of texas,

is he prosecutors behind those investigations ever go to let say alvin bragg in new york and say could you cease and assist? that's an ignorant question what you are used to them for me. this is the weakest of the cases of legal wise. it's raining on their case parade, isn't it? >> it is. that is in the peculiar thing about this whole new york situation. it is the weakest case against one or president trump. and yet it has been pushed ahead it has been the one in the spotlight at least so far. you're absolutely right if you're the prosecutor in georgia special counsel why is the first case out of the gate the one that will make constitutional history in the united states indictment of a former president the weakest case of them all. i will be surprised if they
7:49 am
called the printed stand here and got down there supposed to act independently not base their decisions on what is best for prost resident trump is got to cross right may be other people average of the district attorney wide move ahead one of the weakest case of the ball? >> apparently there was discord about how far to proceed whether they even have a case to proceed. i'm wondering what you think happens here? >> i still think the new york d.a. is going to move ahead. thought it's going to happen this week president trump but it was going to happen this week it didn't. i still think it's more likely than not it happens but i think frankly he's gone too far to turn back now. i do think they're people within his camp sync pump the brakes a bit. certainly a lot of liberals and opponents of president trump aren't saying that publicly you should not go first. maybe he will string it out a few more weeks for it maybe will
7:50 am
delay it long enough to let georgia go first for example. but it will be interesting i still think an indictment is more likely as not but i'm not as certain as i was last week at this time. the former president is speaking at waco, texas at the rally, which i played this one. the result of the rallying the base around him. to protest the sort of thing. he has also crossed the line one showing up that that he is making a tenuous situation all the more so. what do you think? >> i agree it should not be doing that. look, if i'm his lawyers i would
7:51 am
say this is absolutely presiding over one of his cases. loosely threatening the district attorney that serious. judges will take that stuff seriously. as a direct threat on the prosecutor. time and history. the place that in our society is no place for threatening whom we disagree with her doing. love like waiting to go here that is yet to pan out. we will see. always good talking to my friend, thank you. thank you, neil. eight in the meantime were followed in the case of tiktok

when he shut it down outright port mobilizes to the point we should be the chinese threat. the ceo is doubling time convincing bipartisan group that he comes in peace and tiktok comes in peace. it is not a security threat. let's just say florida congresswoman and one disagreed. >> you expect us to believe that you are capable of maintaining that data and privacy security when you're 50 million americans you can i protect the people in this room? you could not take action after 41 days when a clear threat, a very violent threat to the chairwoman of this committee and the members of this committee was posted on your platform. you know you cannot protect the data and security of this committee or the 150 million users of your app because it is an extension of the ccp.
7:53 am
make the congresswoman with us right now. remind me not to get on your bad side, congressman. [laughter] i felt almost sorry for the guy right now because he did not have any answers for you or you republican and democratic colleagues for this ecb the chinese communist party does sort of pull the strings here and dance the parent company is the one through which that is occurring keep trying until you know, that is not the case. you did not believe in looks like an overwhelming majority of your committee members did not believe it sort of cisco? [laughter] well, it is true tiktok did the one thing no one thought was possible this year. they brought republicans and democrats together. what you saw this past week was a bipartisan tongue lashing of tiktok ceo and really the practices they have engaged in. not just in creating digital

fentanyl but harvesting our american data and sending it back to the ccp. i think the cat is out of the bag. we know the parent company of tiktok has been harvesting americans data, using it for nefarious purposes. but we need a short-term solution which can be education, figuring out ways to take it off of sensitive networks, et ce cetera. but the long term solution really is a data c/privacy standard nationally that protects the fourth amendment of americans as well as her for >> rights. neil: that would extend to american social media concerns of whom it has been similarly said they spy on you. i guess a lot of young people know that, i can actually deal with that but the lying here, this is china we are talking about, no friend of ours. so where do you think this goes? it's one thing to say shut it down. we've done that for government workers, it is a whole another leap doing a countrywide and
7:55 am
private commerce. how it all work if it came to that? >> well, that's a tricky question we are really dealing with and tussling with up here on capitol hill. there is the private enterprise aspect where you do not want government picking winners and losers. but that is why we are so cognizant of the fact tiktok is not a private enterprise. it is a wholly-owned subsidiary of bi dance which has members of the ccp high-ranking ccp officials on their board. we have made that connection very, very clearly. this is not something that is a private enterprise say like google or meta. even though it might i myself and others have concerns about the usage of meta, others, google do with our data. like i said, or to cisco? we have to find that balance of being in government and making sure we are protecting the constitutional rights of americans, the first amendment rights freedom of expression,

speech, et cetera. but also their fourth amendment we had had warrantless data collection on americans for years. people stand has been collected and subsequently sold. this is something that should not be happening. so we've got to really grapple with the next generation of how technology is influencing our everyday lives. i think we are woefully unprepared for the emergence of ai in our everyday society. but as it relates to tiktok, like i said china is in a long term strategy to harvest americans at data that use it for nefarious purposes. the new asymmetric warfare model is rooted in the intelligence economy in china is dominating it. you may think it's harmless videos and dancing and filters and cute things like that, but actually they are tracking your biometric data for their building a profile on you for they are tracking your keystrokes, getting into your home wi-fi which was exposed in this hearing. then they are turning around and building a long-term strategy for how they would overcome
