hold my wand. don't wave it at anything. get the best price by booking direct at choicehotels.com. mmm! yeah! what did i say!?! >> hello, everyone, this is "outnumbered," i'm kayleigh mcenany here with harris faulkner and emily compagno. joining us is "fox news sunday" shannon bream and georgia congressman and host of doug collins podcast, doug collins. we begin with growing questions over why the biden deparstice a investigating the national security christian school shooting as a hate crime.
9:01 am
in a letter to merrick garland, demanding the launch of a hate crime investigation. federal law is clear, acts of violence against individuals based on religious affiliation are hate crimes. the shooter was a former student of covenant and chose to terrorize this school because of their christian faith. it is appalling you have not opened a hate crime investigation. the shooting occurred at this hour on monday, it is now thursday. we have seen the department of justice take action much quicker with previous shootings. the horrific shooting at pulse nightclub was investigated as a hate crime less than 72 hours. massacre at tree of god synagogue within 24 hours.
9:02 am
and -- the same day. when attorney general merrick garland was asked whether he planned to investigating the national security christian school shooting as a hate crime, here is the answer. >> as of now a motive has not been identified and the police chief says they have not reached conclusion with respect to motive. we are certainly working full time with them to determine what the motive is and of course motive is what determines whether it is a hate crime or not. >> kayleigh: shannon, it is a big question to me, we listed other various hate crimes that were investigated as such, almost immediately within 24 hours. it is more than 72 hours. >> shannon: doj has to be aware of the optics and how difficult it is for them. we talked about attacks on pregnancy centers and as centers and doj knows they have a public optic issue with that.
9:03 am
we are hearing from one council member that they will release the manifesto, which i think that will tie probably this issue of motive off the table and they'll have to get moving forward at that point. >> kayleigh: one would think. pro-life individuals targeted houck acquitted in a court of law. some are bogus or have no basis, but this is a mass shooting at christian school of six individuals, why would you not look at this as hate crime immediately or given condemnation of what we saw alongside that answer that merrick garland gave. >> emily: because it is biden's administration, we are all living under a cloud where it is not okay to be christian or profess christian faith and principles, not okay to pray in public. there is distinction online
9:04 am
between christian religious persecution and what occurs in this country, which is perpetuation of a christian, essentially perpetuation myth, it is perception of christian persecution. there is distinction drawn between religious persecution. what is the difference here? why do we err hesitation. you are not drawing a conclusion, you are sparking the investigation. all of the ducks are lined up, for some reason, there is hez tense, absolute anti toward any christian faith and it is perpetuated by this administration. anyone would have come up from the get go standing tall. >> kayleigh: you expect discriminatory speak, we don't expect it from wire services. i have two headlines i could not
9:05 am
believe were real, they are. anti-christian headline, head of christian elementary school, a hero in national security killed in a shooting on monday was described by friends as smart, loving and a female leader within a male-led culture, that is the associated press and reuters lying, former christian school student kills three children, three staff, interesting description of the shooter. >> harris: yeah, we could just call it a killer. >> kayleigh: murderer. >> harris: call her a killer, excuse me. why aren't christians in a protected group where others are? that is my big question. it is not why they didn't jump to looking at this as a hate crime. they would do that if they saw christians as a group that need to be protected, but they don't
9:06 am
see us that way. for those out there unapologetically talking about our faith, we know what it is like to be cancelled. this is ultimate of cancellation, to lose precious lives and not have anybody stick up for their belief system, for what they were trying to put in the world, goodness, faith, love, hope and all those things, impenetrable weapon of prayer, they are working on that end. we focus on things that maybe the shooter needed. as christians we can do both, pray for everybody, all seven of them who died, but we do anticipate this is a protected group. when church in south carolina and i spoke to nikki haley about this, when that church was attacked and president obama
9:07 am
went there and sang "amazing grace" that was on his watch. again, it wasn't acknowledged, it was about race. it wasn't acknowledged it was about the fact they were so christian. i don't know why that is. i'm not sure, but it is bold as day and if i can be unapologetic in my faith, why can't everybody else call out what is real and true? it will not hurt to look at the facts. >> kayleigh: great question, we are getting word we will get the manifesto, the timing is something to question, doug, we know with community college in oregon took two years to get the manifesto and three months to get it and three days in the case of the walmart shooting. we are looking to from days t years. >> douglas: the question is why, the shooter is dead, the crime
9:08 am
is complete. they are not saying if it is conspiracy, they are not looking for others. why not get the information out there? by holding it back, it looks like you are protecting or hiding something. goes back to what you all just said, we are in society today, prevailing theme from what it is, i want to do what is right in my own eyes, don't want anybody else to tell me what is right or wrong. christians believe in set of beliefs and faith that says this is right or wrong and moral truth here. what is disturbing about this thing and harris, you brought this up, why are christians ignored? it should be about faith, there is a belief system. if you take a hate crime law, hate crime is getting in your head. if you are going to go there, belief system is belief system, generic in the law. what we are see withing this administration and others, christians have privileges and
9:09 am
advantages. okay does that mean because there are more that claim to be christians that they should be ignored if somebody attacks them in their faith? it should be done with everybody and we've gotten so scared of letting belief from the federal government perspective or investigation, its christian, but same time any other faith, it is immediately out there. this is where we have a problem. >> harris: ari fleischer was here earlier in the week and he said we understand what you are going through and they have turned in, jewish community center, synagogues, into hardened targets. they know. he said christianity is the same, you will be targeted, too, take a note from our page. we can work together outside of the government to harden targets just like you and i talked about as moms hardening targets with
9:10 am
schools. but why is it some religions are seen as protectable and in need of protection, but christianity isn't? >> douglas: two-second benefit of the doubt. they are smaller or minority, our country protects them. same point in time, only thing you protect, then it becomes separate situation you are not protecting all and i think that is the issue, whether you have faith, don't have faith and we've gotten scared to say i'm a christian. i believe christ died for me. that is offensive if a public place. it has to be treated same. >> kayleigh: religious belief is protected class and that includes christianity. top military officials confronted about drag queen story hours taking place on bases. the stunning admission from the highest ranking officer next. this is going to be great. taking the shawl off.

and that is readiness. if you haven't guessed yet, chieb would like us to focus on issues that don't have anything like getting ready for war. >> emily: should is shocking and unconscionable that we are exposing military families to this. here is why. we learned across bases and across our country, we, this government and american people by proxy of tax dollars are forcing soldiers and families to live in unsanitary conditions, infested with mold, with high cancer, unliveable it was called by members of senate and congress, some below the poverty line. united states veterans have toy drives for soldier families and gather food for soldier families. training accidents are rampant.

we just lost last night. this is what the administration is signalling their priorities are, not safety on the homefront, not stability of the family, not safety in afghanistan, this is an abomination. >> harris: so shannon, when you look at this, this is not a situation where they were having a pride day, lgbtq+ whatever support so on and so forth. this was a drag queen story hour. there has been this movement across the country with parents saying, can we look at ages of projected audience members at some of those things? i grew up on a base, if there is something going on, everybody shows up, every street is coming. okay, and there is food? we get excited about that. i'm wondering where would this be appropriate and why can't they find that lane to do it in?
9:20 am
>> shannon: a couple of things set this off for people. there are kids involved and there would be taxpayer dollars involved. if they are sitting in washington, i am hearing, nothing we can cut, nothing we can negotiate over, if you had democrats and republicans take a vote on this spending specifically for something aimed at children on a military base with u.s. dollars, you'd get a lot of no votes on both sides of the aisle. it opens up questions. you have the air force secretary saying, wake up, we have enormous challenges, he's terrified what is happening to the nuclear program in china and says it is the worst in 50 years. they are upping their nuclear arsenal and china loves when we get distracted about these things and want to see us fighting and spending military time and effort on this instead of working about their nuclear arsenal. >> harris: they may be behind us in technology 10 or 15 years,
