today after the grand jury vote to -- but has attorneys refuse and he self surrendered which could happen on tuesday. all this while president biden is staying silent on the matter. we have the latest from new york . >> we are just days away from the historic first arraignment of a former us president president here in new york city with the security briefing that took place friday afternoon between the nypd, fbi, new york state court officers, das office , the secret service to finalize the details about the logistics insecurity up to states expected court proceedings. manhattan district district attorney alvin bragg had requested trump surrender by friday after the deck up at tha timeline was extended due to arrangements that needed to be made by the secret service the new york post reported that the former president was seen howling but this legal team at his resort in palm beach today

to work on fine-tuning a defens and while the grand jury indictment remains sealed, the associated press is reporting that donald trump will be charged with at least one felon as part of his indictment over what prosecutors have called hush money payments made to adult film star stormy daniels and former playboy model tara macdougall mcdougall before the election. he is outraged by the indictmen and will be working to move for a change of venue. >> the fact that we are now going to have a former presiden being arraigned in court is a horrific day for this country and that rule of lodges dies as far as i'm concerned. >> the former president is expected to be arraigned to use that at them and hampton criminal court appearance sources told foxnews he put not be handcuffed or purpose walk but is expected to be fingerprinted and have his mug shot taken. and according to mr. trump's campaign, he has raised more
9:03 pm
than $4 million towards his presidential run in the 24 hour since he was indicted pbf cameras all over new york city and we will bring you all the latest as it comes here in new york city. >> thank you so much for your coverage. we appreciate that. in the meantime in the last 30 hours or so folks from across the political spectrum have weighed in on the first-ever indictment of a us president jonathan hunt has that side of the story tonight. good evening, jonathan. rhodes. >> president biden was about th only political figure not layin in that they put the president was peppered with questions about the indictment of his predecessor and mr. biden was not biting. >> many republicans are outraged
9:04 pm
. former president doldrums claim that the cases centered on the hush money payments to stormy daniels is short on evidence an long on politics. former brook vice president mik pence among those rushing to terms defense even as our own yoko bodo pointed out to him that there are reportedly about 30 charges involved multiple paths to multiple women. >> there going up a lot of speculation about the accusations are but i just you ought to consider the source here and that is that this is a liberal democrat part of some prosecutor. >> former house speaker nancy pelosi drew some criticism for her thursday night statement that, quote, the grand jury has acted upon the facts of the law. no one is above the law and everyone has the right to a trial to prove innocence.
9:05 pm
that, of course, is not the way trials work. everyone is in fact presumed innocent until proven guilty bu having persuaded a grand jury there is a case for mr. trump t answer, prosecutors. confident that they can indeed prove guilt. we shall see. >> yes indeed. people cipro jonathan hunt, thank you as is always. we appreciate that. time to dig into all of the abl above with tom the fifth -- alex murdaugh put a lot of shar with you little a little south from the former vice president mike pence pretty talked about this idea that maybe yet be careful how we frame this but i want you to listen to what the former vp bp had to say. >> congress has every right to ask whatever questions that the want to ask, but i think beginning with the premise that even bad decisions by state and local government are still an element or i just want them to,
9:06 pm
i want them to temper their inquiries to respect federalism. >> jonathan, this is one of those circumstances where i think if you are an attorney, even if you are not an attorney yet be thinking happily jumped the shark to use the old happy days expression. tell me where we go from here and is the vp right. >> this whole thing is, we are in new territory. and with these investigations o these potential charges for wha we know about, these are misdemeanor charges that occurred seven plus years ago s it really is, you know, an extraordinary thing to be prosecuting for a new prosecuto so the vice president's point was good there's an inquiring about this and this will affect the next presidential election so it certainly is legitimate for them to ask why is this prosecutor into something so extraordinarily unusual in term
9:07 pm
of prosecutions. and what effect on the election but have. >> i will throw you a little bi of a curveball here because there is a sentiment out there that this isn't really about a conviction. this about getting fingerprints and a mug shot because that is really the best that they can probably hope for because they know that they are right shaky ground. >> my understanding is the process is almost insurmountabl and terms of being able to stop it but governor of new york intervenes. with all due respect for the vice president, there is urgenc for congress to figure out what's going on here. if you have a court prosecutor, i think this is the corruption seeking to make the former president into a political prisoner who is currently for prisoner. they should demand answers.
9:08 pm
they are going to be put in the middle of this. they've got this abusive justic system. they got to make short and the least tax dollars for the us ar being used and misused to abuse the civil rights of an innocent man. >> in that investigation will continue pretty want to run by both of you the editorial board this is thursday. pet doors prosecution and this was interesting people at the list of false russian claims, two failed in peace -- and whether that political defense succeeds depend on how the case involves in court and what will be a media circus for the ages. >> mr. trump's reckless persona behavior has made himself vulnerable as usual and democratic access could rescue him again. 15 seconds each part does the journal have right?
9:09 pm
>> the overreaction to all of his everything, every step of the way, the overreaction committed so disproportionate t the conduct and again to prosecute seven-year-old misdemeanors which they are not doing with anybody else in new york. this is really an extraordinary overreaction. >> it is a crime that used campaign funds to take care of personal issue is absurd. trump is a crime victim and it may be a political issue when h starts raising these various abuses he suffered but the lega system has failed america for trump. >> certainly a change in the air , jonathan and tom, thank you so much. we appreciate that. we are getting reports of multiple injuries out a metal concert and belvedere in illinois after a roof collapse briefing now know at least one person has been killed.

9:16 pm
be the motivation for hanging onto it if you're talking about it from a law enforcement perspective. i am surprised at the manifesto has not been released considering the defendant in this investigation is the c-spa however, the police are also assisting on the decision whether to release this manifesto. there could be one that they're worried about but i do think it should be coming out sooner tha later. >> easily could be something they're worried about, give me an example of that. >> maybe there's element of the crime that we are not aware of and may have involved other people and other targets. if you listen to some of those statements, he talks about family being possible targets, the talk about amal being possible targets is welcome but i agree, think that transparenc is really quite important at this time, especially with everybody in the country on hat crimes, more information would be better for everybody. >> let me share a bit of the thoughts from the vice presiden to be had a chance to hear what his thoughts were earlier and i
9:17 pm
want to share that with you and we can. it up on the other side. >> i think we net to get to the bottom and the motive. is possible this was a hate crime and we need to be very clear i visited synagogue swallow his vice president that were subject to violence that were prosecuted as hate crimes. we need to identify whether or not we have a whitening enmity toward christian and traditiona conservative views that is bein driven and driving people to violence. >> very clear thoughts from the vice president and that actual interview that happened on thursday at another network, i saw a piece today on msnbc website and it basically said the ideology of the motive doesn't matter but i have the presidents that you most certainly does matter but what is your perspective on that. >> of course ideology matters. this is something that people are trying to understand her fo going to make and figure out ho to ask this problem, that is th mentality that i was doing

investigations, we definitely want to know what the motives are and what the thinking is behind these bit of work going to find some solutions here, knowing why they're doing these days critical. i always appreciate your perspective. this is one of the stories that continues to unfold in more layers will have you back your karine jean-pierre, thank you s much. >> russian authorities have arrested an american journalist on espionage charges. evan of the wall street journal is accused of trying to obtain information for the us government. they called for russia to free the reporter saying simply let them go. when they were asked about arresting friday companies agency has reported that he's been ordered to be held in custody until may 29. we've got some time now.
9:19 pm
let's bring in the former national security council chief of staff. is always a pleasure to have yo were talking about partnering members a great rift in the us and -- is that possible. >> i hope so, kevin. let me make it clear, the us government does not use journalists as spies. this is probably an effort or blackmail to try to extort the united states to get russian spies out of prison i also worried that it marks the end o what is left of the free press of russia prewritten of the international press has a lot t report out of russia as long as the recipients of the reporting is that within russian amore
9:20 pm
that's going away too. >> i wanted to share something for the wall street journal and talking about prisoner swaps that i think i found this fascinating. a set of headlines reporters -- spotlight on americans and russians and prisoner swaps pretty goes on to say the detention of the american wall street journal reporter thrust back in the spotlight to desperate groups of individuals with a common goal for us citizens held in russia and russian citizens imprisoned in the us was best release prospects may lie in the negotiated prisoner swaps. it would seem exceedingly difficult, given what has happened, not just the war in ukraine, but basically the sculpting bout white house and the kremlin that a prisoner swa what happening yet i've seen it happen before even at the very little point in us russian relations. is this a bridge too far or do you think this is something tha can happen quite. >> i think something could happen when i would say at the outset is that all americans,
9:21 pm
all us journalist did get out. they crossed a redline and thei safety cannot be guaranteed. of looks like they're going to arrest people at well and use them as hostages to trade with united states. relations are very bad and even with the war in ukraine, for some reason this administration has not been engaged in the dialog should have been engaged with for russia and with china. and i think that has to be addressed. has to be far more high-level, even if we don't agree to keep the dialogue open. you've just got too rapid that. >> i appreciate that. were little short of time. we will get you back. thank you for coming on to record hazmat court for you and have an argument over wings or are they not get smith added much more coming out. and later in the nightcap, do you do a nightcap? do you snack? check us out online. check us out online. we will be right back. this is our top of the line hearing aid.
