president trump's arraignment in new york city, it is the first time in our country's history a former president faces criminal charges and cameras will be in the courtroom before the hearing begins. you're watching "fox and friends first," i'm todd piro. >> ashley: i'm ashley strohmier. the day of the dawn ahead of the proceedings being called the big circus. brooke singman has more. >> brooke: former president trump will not be put in handcuffs at his arraignment later today. he is facing charges from alvin bragg's office, the charges will be revealed at the arraignment later today. one attorney joe tacopina detailing what we can expect. listen. >> joe: he'll be in the courtroom about three or four rows back, what is extraordinary is that tomorrow is actually happening.

it is surreal and shocking. we don't know other than we will plea very loudly not guilty before the judge and go from there. brooke trump is expected to arrive at 11:00 a.m. today, streets are expected to close around 1 p.m., an hour before the arraignment is set to begin. trump could finish up by 2:30 p.m. the former president hired an additional attorney, todd blanche who defended trump campaign chairman paul manafort. blanche defended manafort from a case by cy vance. the former president says alvin bragg should indict himself. security has been stepped up to

prepare for today's indictment. >> todd: the question becomes what is the trump legal strategy going forward? one of trump's impeachment attorneys had an interesting analysis, take a listen to that. >> three motions they should file after arraignment, one is motion to dismiss on statute much limitation grounds and motion to dismiss and disqualify district attorney bragg. based on his campaign statement targeting president trump and promising to convict him. i would -- the judge. historic basis for making that claim. we'll see, i don't think it was coincidental he was on the bannon case and this case.

focused on woke terms like brown out. >> ashley: in a memo from last year satellite fire department said 110 vacant positions for uniformed fire officials, shortfall expected to last year and a half. it takes 12 to 18 months to retire people, i assume for training purposes and things like that. i would beg that it would be taking a little longer than what they are saying. do you agree? >> yes, it is. that is on the positive end of their staffing. right now they are bringing members into the department and they are not able to pass training, so they have to let them go because they can't meet minimum qualifications and standards. >> ashley: how far behind do you think they are? >> they only have 39 members

actively through recruit school, started with 53, have target of 80. currently about 40 vacancies as of march into april. it is not looking any better. >> ashley: what do you think will happen to the city of sate seattle. i doubt homeowner will be asking your vaccination status while you put a fire out at their house. what is the city going to do? >> the city and the chief are gambling with people's lives. one to two units out of service can impact the growth of a fire. fires are growing at a rapid rate and we have smaller time to make a response and get the fire out and rescue victims.
