threatening 50 million americans. there is a chance this morning you are in the storm's path in the plant in the mid-atlantic including cities like filly and washington. senior meteorologist janice dean is here with our fox weather forecast. this is a thin line, a very strong storms. >> janice: yes, they will weaken as we go throughout the day today. we could see the potential for hail, damaging winds, isolated tornadoes for parts of the mid-atlantic. heavily populated neighborhoods along the i-95 korea door. could see where have flush flood advisories for texas and louisiana. that front is going to stall along the gulf coast and bring the potential for scattered storms and rainfall. severe storm threat with emphasis on the atlantic all the ingredients come together for severe weather. look at the potential record highs. that front moves through. warm air surges from the south and get to 92 in tampa. new york 74 today before that front moves through. and the cold side of the storm. we had a blizzard and 4 feet of

i know that your town is going through so much. glen allen had a population of 58. that is a very small town. the town i grew up industry, kansas had 45 so i know exactly what kind of town you live in. but tell us about when the tornado went through and what you saw and what you heard. >> i actually don't live there in the town but my mother and my sister do. and at somewhere around 3:00. i don't really remember the exact time, we got an alert on our local weather and i called my sister to alert her. they had already gone to the local church. it's a small community there aren't any basements much in that town. so they went to a local church to stay in a basement. but my mother would not go. so she stayed behind and stayed in the closet. >> janice: oh my goodness. you guys have a tornado preparation plan, right? this is typically tornado alli

although it's been very active so far this year. >> yes, yep. >> steve: i was going to say, your mom did the right thing, she went into an interior closet. when i was down in dallas a couple weeks ago, there was a tornado warning. and we wound up all going into my daughter and her husband's bathroom on the interior side because that is the most protected spot in the house. tell us a little bit, stan, about the damage your mother had on her property. >> her house wasn't damaged really, really badly. but the shop that my dad and i built, by brother-in-law back years ago it was completely 4re68d. i mean and it's so close to the house it's unbelievable. my sister was right next door. and their shop building was also destroyed. so, yeah, it's -- there's a lot of damage there. it's unbelievable. >> janice: these storms happened

president we had asked to have a meeting with the administrators to go ahead and discuss what's going on and with this i see a couple of issues. i know that our son's school charter school. some of those kids came in lacking proficiency. which is disheartening. another school knew they were lacking and willing to pass them on, which lets me know this is happening not only in his school but other schools where kids are just beinged passed from elementary to middle to high school. and then, also, sadly, i will say that at this time i'm also holding parents accountable to a point. because, that the meeting. we had no parents from seventh and eighth grade which are the grades that have the zero percent proficiency. i think it's a lot that contributes to that. but i know at our school, i personally spoke to professor farley last week. him and i had a meeting.
