warships. alexandria hoff has more. alex. >> alexandria: the reaction is more muted than the visit from nancy pelosi last summer. this dynamic does shift day-by-day and yesterday an aircraft along with three vessels were spotted near taiwan. china foreign ministry told reporters the u.s. was coniving with taiwan and the ministry said china will take firm and forceful measure to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity. these are threats chalked up to china simply deploying intimidation tactics. republican congressman michael mccaul, who led the delegation, said this overnight. working together and this is why we are here today, sir, in person, to tell you we are friends of taiwan. we support taiwan.

co-founder of save austin now is joining me now. cleo, thank you for being here. austin is constantly in the news lately because of things like this. crime in the city is up because of the staffing shortages in the police department. tell us how dangerous is rhetoric like this? >> well, it is not only dangerous, it is taken seriously by the city council and mayor. these comments should be laughed out of our city, instead, the mayor last year gave a key to our city to this individual chaz moore and declared chaz moore day last year. they let this individual and his extremist crowd write police policy. up until a couple days ago he had a city with the city manager thchl is insanity we are dealing with in austin >> ashley: why was this allowed?

why was he given a key to the city? hope they are not listening to him, why is this happening? >> i think in the wake of the george floyd murder, there was a call for police reform, police accountability, which obviously everyone supports police accountability. i support accountable police, accountable district attorneys, mayors, everyone should be held accountable. hating police and expressing support for groups that want to abolish police departments, they should not be taken seriously and they hurt the communities all this wokeness was supposed to help. >> ashley: back to chas, he thinks murderers should be given -- rather forgiven, saying if someone went into my house with a shotgun and blew her brains out, i'm going to be sad. some point, if i'm able to sit

with that, there is no level or retribution that will make me feel any type of way. cleo, you know chas, his comments, do they shock you at all? >> absolutely. i was member of austin justice coalition that he is leader of. the reason i left the group, after attending rallies, they were screaming f the police, they want to abolish our police department and i do not support that and i made my position so loud as a democrat is because i believe i support majority of what austinites believe in, public safety, they support police officers, they want police officers held accountable. this extreme views are not held by majority of austinites or americans. they do not need to be taken seriously, i got involved in this, i grew up in one of the

poorest neighborhoods in south dallas. my best friend was shot and killed in the back in front of me. i grew up and became a police officer and worked in the community i grew up in. i believe in social services and active police work and ability to have police presence in our communities to counteract the increase in violent crime we've seen. but this, shutting down prisons, not holding murderers accountable, this is craziness. i would love to hear what the mayor has to say in response to that, will he continue to have partnerships with people who have these insane views of our police department? >> ashley: i couldn't imagine that anyone would agree with these statements and comments, especially when it comes to murderers and criminals. they have to be held accountable or we will never see an end to this. cleo petricek, thank you for

>> beverly: we shouldn't. their members have a disdain for donald trump and many outlets didn't cover his speech following his indictment. what we have to wait and see is whether or not as president biden, we are guessing will throw his hat in the ring. will we see the same type of blurring? we'll have to wait and see. the contrast will be clear when others get in the race. news outlets know this is good rating, not want to give him credit whatsoever. donald trump raised $8 million since his indictment, i don't think it prevented him from getting any donations. >> guy: i think it jumped to 10 million last i saw. if they blur the text donation link or

number to text, fair enough if you say that is our policy to do it. if you end up selectively blurring out the donation option only for candidates people in your newsroom don't like, it is glaring in your face, isn't it? >> beverly: yeah, how blatant do you want your bias to be? if this is standard they have, anything donation related, they will blur it moving forward, fine, people will worry whether or not it is good strategy. is this election interference, if they prioritize donation of one candidate over another, it is easy to point to at election interference. we will see how they cover joe biden if he throws his hat in the ring. >> ashley: if joe biden gets up to talk and that will be the day, if he gets up to speak,

they do not blur it. do you think abc should be held accountable for what they did with trump? >> beverly: i think so. this is where you may want to go to the fcc, and say, the way these news outlets are covering the candidates is unfair, if you prioritize one candidate over another, especially in terms of campaign dollars and how people donate, you are suppressing one candidate and preferring another. i don't think the audience is shocked when they see this. when we point out things like this, hopefully news outlets think, we should be more careful we have to keep them accountable, media is a crumbling institution where bias has seeped in and it will seep into this next election. >> guy: quickly on this topic, i'm curious what the internal conversation sounded like leading to that decision?

it took effort to blur out that particular part of the screen, multiple people made that decision together, that was a choice, right? >> beverly: it was definitely a choice. i wonder if there was a moment where they were like, nobody will notice this, he will not get campaign donations. there was internal discussion, preemative discussion to not give him credit. i think the news outlets are saying, he was just indicted, this is about criminal charges, we do not want to move forward with promotion of it. they will make that claim. this is somebody running for office and this is blatant move by a news outlet. >> ashley: interesting to see the response we get from that. do you remember the easter bunny who jumped between president biden last year? the white house is giving him a

the decision to order troops out of afghanistan, it is the way it was done. there were children being killed, people were hanging off jets leaving and you are proud of the way this mission was conducted? >> nobody is saying everything was perfect. a lot went right, yeah, there is a lot to be proud of. >> ashley: led to the death of 13 servicemember. john kirby said he doesn't buy it was chaotic and secretary of state mike pompeo fired back. >> i'm sorry, i don't buy the argument of chaos, all this talk of chaos, i didn't see it, it was tough the first few hours, you would expect it to be. >> this was chaotic, 13 americans killed. they sabotaged a plan put in place that was conditions-based. they came in, took the plan we had and botched it, made a hash of it. america people have suffered from it and continue to suffer

today. >> ashley: i understand this 12-page report from the white house, they don't want to implicate the president, i get it. him saying in 2021, i believe to peter doocy after this happened, he said the buck stops with me, i take responsibility for everything that happened to this point. then you see the report and it points back to the trump administration and to president trump and it was all their fault. it just seems there is never any accountability with this administration, even when you have the lives of 13 marines taken. they were stolen. that should have never happened. if they had a plan in place, there was no plan, clearly no plan in place, this is what happens. it bothers me to my core when they say this was not chaotic. i've interviewed gold star mothers who have sat on this program and cried because they no longer have their kids

trans-athletes competing against biological females, which is title nine violation. >> cheryl: they want to expand title nine under department of education and it would make this sexual discrimination. expand the definition of exual discrimination to include athletes. biological boys being on girl teams because they identify as girls. anyway new proposal has stipulation that recognizes in some instances, particularly competitive high school and college athletic environment, some schools may adopt policy that limit transgender student participation. this goes to scholarships and so much outrage in the athletic community because these young girls, biological girls, are losing out on scholarship opportunities to biological boys who identify as girls and are

playing in girls sports. we have seen that, lia thomas, the swimmer. >> ashley: i played sports my entire life, it is hard enough to win against a biological girl who is really good, throw biological boys in the mix, what are you doing? >> cheryl: i had this discussion with friends of mine that are doctors, they say it is bone structure and genetics. >> ashley: literal d.n.a. >> cheryl: it is muscle composition, talking about nuts and bolts of what you are competing against if you are a biological girl, you are at disadvantage and little girls are losing scholarship opportunities. >> ashley: you have to wonder how they feel going into high school thinking, does it even matter? will i get further than this and play in college? >> guy: and can i speak up about it or will that hurt my future, i will be labeled a bigot.
