weekend. i'm not pete hegseth contrary to half the people that see me in the airport. they like to think i'm pete. i'm here with rachel and will and gracious enough to let me hang out on the couch this morning. that was tampa, florida, not far from orlando where i came from. rachel: am i hearing you don't like country music. you said that was from his play list. joey: that wasn't country. not even close. rachel: his play list is all country. will: he likes country. he's just messing with me. we share musical taste pretty much. >> we do. will: now a fox news alert. taiwan defense reported more than 70 chinese jets crossed the median line of the taiwan straight today and beijing

deploying combat readiness patrols. rachel: we're not in trouble with the chinese right now, yikes. live fire drills unfolding as u.s. congressional delegation overnight doubling down on support for the island nation. >> got to frame the issues of taiwan as ccp is aggressive for a authoritarian communist state and what i view is a free and independent democratic nation. joey: another congressman said it's vital the u.s. looks for ways to help taiwan and defend democracy. >> there's obviously a backlog of defense systems, harpoon missiles, that i thinks they've already purchased and we'll go back and look at production lines and what can we do to get our defense companies producing those weapons and get them over here. joey: you know, guys, i take issue a little bit. i think it was mccall yesterday that had comments that echoed biden's comments from months ago saying if china were to invade
4:03 am
taiwan and attack militarily, we'd be there and physically fighting the war. if you're selling that as posturing and deterrence, why would china believe that? number one, i don't know where we are as a country. we should have a voice. if we use military intervention, we should have a congressional vote on war. but what has what has this administration done to convince anyone around the world our spine is stiff on things like it. rachel: so many generals said we're not prepared to have a war that we're fighting by proxy in ukraine and also something as serious as war with china. that's something that i think we have to really think about hard, which is why i think this delegation is over there trying to bring about peace.
4:04 am
i hope representative mike lawler was on the show earlier today and what he had to say about the u.s. trying to deter china. >> woe support taiwan, and we along with our allies in the indo pacific will work together to do our level best to deter china from taking action. nobody wants war. we want peace, but peace comes with the recognition that taiwan needs to be treated as a country in its own right. china is not a friend and not an ally. they're doing everything they can to undermine us economically and they're doing everything they can when it comes to intellectual property rights, to steal from our american companies. we need to be prepared to take them on economically and part of that is strengthening ties with the allies in the indo pacific region. rachel: this week china called
4:05 am
america their enemy in a statement they made, but our president said they're our competitors. this is one of the problems i've had from the beginning with the suppression of the hunter biden laptop and the fact that our president now and his family have been on the take from china and potentially compromised. it makes it very difficult to face something like this. will: couple of points. i firmly believe in the concept of peace through strength and the world has to understand and believe you will respond aggressively to any provocation and interestingly whatever we've done in ukraine, doesn't seem to have deterred russia and not deterring china and much of what's fairly characterized at bio-partisan neocon war machine hasn't done much to deter wars and the unpredictability. the unpredictability of donald trump did keep. of the world on it is heels. i don't know what he'll do but
4:06 am
whatever he'll dorks he'll do it to -- do, he'll do it to me. that kept a lot of bad guys on their heels and i want to emphasize, i agree and can we get back to a point in american history that war is something democratically voted on and congress declares war. if that should be the case, start now and make the case to the american people. there's a case to be made of why taiwan is so important to the american interest. rachel: you have a propaganda machine with ukrainian there's a whole system around avoiding that process and also somehow getting everybody on board with something that's not necessarily in the u.s. interest. will: we've played over the last 24 months and not assigning blame in the last 24 hours and this is where we are. make no mistake, a war with china is in fact and will be a war with russia, iran, north korea, where saudi arabia's money goes in a conflict like that and what's happening lately
4:07 am
and those are the reasons why all the other smaller countries or threats like iran and north korea are so important and this is the big threat r. do they fall? do they abstain or support it? if they're dependent on china and what they're trying to do with their choice in a war like that. no matter what scale it may be, ground troops against ground troops and all the efforts that go into them and what are our allies, western europe. i don't know. rachel: not just weapons but also we have to fight with our economy and part of that strength that you talk about is how strong is our economy and at the same time this is happening, we have an energy policy that is making ustion weaker and russia and china stronger. none makes any sense and none shows any seriousness and all calls into question and where does the president stand with china and ties to china. is he compromised because that

affects how this war that we're clearly gearing up for whether people want to admit it or not how we are prepared for that. t. will: move back home to domestic issues and take a look at this map. i want to put this map up and a number of states up to 20. they've begun to ban transgender athletes so men, mostly, men playing girls sports by declaration in some cases, you know, whey mean is gender identity. sometimes there's hurdles that get through and hormone level treatments and you're not doing that. you're not going to pretend like boys can be girls. well, in response to that, the biden administration has said, okay, under title 9 here's new rules and proposed rule would establish that policies that would violate title 9 and categorically ban them from participating on sports teams consist with their gender identity and recognize in some instances particularly in
4:09 am
competitive high school and college athletic environments and some schools may adopt policies that limit transgender participation. that's a big deal. first of all, title 9 dictates federal funds and they're saying to me it's a little unclear. you know, you can't have a blank ban. you can do some tweaking, which they didn't layout and see that in the final sentence, this could severely impact, joey, collegiate sports. for georgia or texas to say we're putting a transgender ban in and the feds feds could go, you don't get title 9 money. it'll be withheld from you and that impacts your university and everything drastically. joey: joining back down to public school level and impacts -- i have a sister-in-law and friend and is the person that helps disburse the money and how important federal funding is to any public
4:10 am
school and low value versus federal is huge. it's title one that's low income and that affects 10 to 20% of every school's budget and talking a handful of teachers and budget to professionally train and what are you beholding to the to the federal government when you're taking the money. what we saw was removal of things like home ec and shop and those kids are now adults if they're going to have a say in how our kids are educated as parents and we'll run for school board and can't leave to the federal government to figure it out for you and states like georgia aren't on the map and it's federal funding. rachel: what caitlyn jenner had to say. >> trump bide season trying to erase women, trying to erase women in sports because if he
4:11 am
gets through what he's trying to get through, it'll be the end of women sports. that's a shame because women sports has come so far in the country and joe biden is trying to kill it. we're trying to do everything to make women sports better and fair. this is about fairness. i'm about fairness, football games equality. not guilty equity. so -- not equity. so i just will continue the fight. rachel: i have to tell you, as a woman, i can't believe we're having this argument. i cannot believe that there are not more women, i mean god bless caitlyn jenner for standing up for this. that's pretty tough to do within her community, but where is the woman's movement? where is gloria and alexandria ocasio-cortez and all these women that stay say stand up for women. i've said this before, will and
4:12 am
joyy, the new case -- joey, the new face of feminism is riley gains and she'll be on our show later today and that's the face of feminism and she's very young. where are all the grownups? all the moms and everybody defending our gender, defending women sports and all the work that's been done over the last 100 years to give women their place in society? i think it's shameful. will: the same people that advocated for title 9 to protect women's sports are the ones advocating to destroy it today. rachel: what i will say, it proves one point, the women's movement was never about women. it was about abortion. it's an abortion movement that masquerades as a women's movement and nothing exposes it more than this. they refuse to stand up for women in sports. sorry about that. will: it's all right. riley gains made a name for herself speak out about this invasion of transgenders into
4:13 am
women's sports. she'll be on the show to talk about that. joey: women have to lead the fight because they have the say in this and i hope that we support them. all of us. all right, now, to a controversial verdict in texas. an army sergeant is found guilty of murdering a black lives matter protesters during a 2020 protest in austin. rachel: daniel perry said he was trying to protect himself from an armed mob after driving a passenger in his uber. will: alexandria hoff is live with the latest. alexandria. >> good morning. this was is trial that protected self-defense and stand your ground law and state prosecutors argue that perry possessed a bias against protesters and presented evidence that sought to counter what was brought forth by the defense and perry's team argued the uber was driverring was swarmed by an angry crowd and perry fired five shots inside his folk striking 28-year-old air force veteran

4:15 am
the middle of the riots, but he did because they were very dangerous. then this is what happens. he gets swarmed by these protesters, his car is getting banged on. someone, one of the protesters carrying an ak-47 and decides to shoot in advance to protect himself. he felt in danger. joey: there's a lesson to be learned here. stay away from places like austin. let those cities rot to their own detriment. if you believe in freedom and protecting yourself. if you can't go to texas and use a gun to protect yourself without being tried for murder and convicted, you can't go anywhere. stay away from those cities, let them burn before you let your own life be taken just like a tech founder we've been reporting on in san francisco and it's every day something like this because there is no law and order in a place that doesn't respect law or order. i know very well the self-defense laws in texas, and there isn't a precedent case that wouldn't support his use of a firearm in that situation.
4:16 am
