no word on what will happen to his seat. griff: molly and charles, thank you, for more on this let's bring in our political panel, with us today cool robinson and former manchin communication's director. jonathan, i will start with you, we saw obviously vice president harris went down there and the lawmakers have an invitation to visit the white house. what do you make of this and was it appropriate that harris made the trip last minute? >> i think absolutely. i think it's disgusting that these guys are getting expelled for bringing a bull horn to the floor and demanding angst had they brought an ar15, the same gun that has killed hundreds of children this year, they would not have been expelled. that's a problem in our country that we are more concerned about people yelling about kids dying than doing something about kids dying. i hope these two become the

focal point for gun reform in this country and i hope we can eventually get something done. griff: but you failed to point out, jonathan, that this is about the rules, this decorum and that's what the premise of which they were expelled. were they rule breakers or the face of the new fight for american democracy freedom fighters? >> look, republican or democrat, we are all horrified by yet another instance of gun violence in this country but i don't think it justifies the legislators bringing a bull horn under the floor of the legislature. we should hold them -- those who are in government who are elected to represent us and make laws to a higher standard of civil discourse and basically didn't hold up to that. when it comes to expelling, they may have been overkill. unaccept what will they did on the floor. griff: do you think the gun debate becomes issue on the campaign trail that we have to

deal with? >> i think yeah. >> absolutely, if i was joe biden i would constantly make the case that he's the person who wants to protect your kids from guns and the other party donald trump is the one that has no problem with kids dying and doing nothing, because let's point out, they've done nothing in tennessee to stop more of these killings after 3 children were just killed. the only action they took was to clutch their pearls and suspend or expel two members. not to actually address the fact that 3 children were just murdered at their school, like one of those to me is a much bigger problem. griff: by the way, joe biden hasn't announced for reelection, we have to get to that. we are 577 days away from november 5th, 2024 and you heard lucas tomlinson's report, even democrats are saying that president biden owns responsibility for disastrous, chaotic withdrawal from afghanistan that left 13 of our

service members dead at the abby gate. how important of an issue will afghanistan be when we get on the campaign trail? ly st -- i will start with you, qauil. what we saw president biden blaming trump and republicans with the poor execution of the withdrawal. the fact is that our enemies around the world in beijing and moscow saw this u.s. and have disastrous withdrawal and in the past couple of years we have seen putin's invasion of ukraine, we have seen chinese spy balloons over the united states and we have seen china breathing town the necks of taiwan. griff: simulated attack drill and crossing the imaginary line in the strait.

>> i think china and foreign policy overall will be a bigger issue. i think what happened in afghanistan was horrible. i don't think there was ever going to be a good way to get out of it. i don't want to blame president trump but president trump put in a strategy that he wanted to do. he wanted to get out. he negotiated with the taliban, he negotiated the release of 5,000 terrorists and this terrible things because there was no way to get out of afghanistan. it was horrible that 13 soldiers lost their lives and john kirby put the report and prevent that from ever happening. griff: you mentioned former president donald trump, since he got indicted he has raised more than $12 million in fundraising. he's even going after desantis donors, desantis hasn't gotten

chinese army jets and 9 navy ships have entered the taiwan strait as china's people liberation army launches 3 days of drills. 45 of the jets are actually crossing the median line and even going into taiwan's air defense identification zone. it is happening presumably in response to a meeting with president tasi and house speaker kevin mccarthy earlier this week. also the bipartisan delegation visiting with tsai in taipei during 3-day visit. michael mccaul telling fox earlier that the goal is to rally ally support in the pacific and try to deter a chinese invasion but if that were to happen, griff, sending u.s. troops is not out of the question, mccaul telling me exactly why it is so critical that americans support taiwan. >> 90% of the advanced semiconductor capabilities for the world in manufacturing exist

joining me live rebecca heinrich, senior fellow which was sanctioned by china for, quote, providing a platform and convenience to the taiwan separatist actives. oh, my, well, let's start with meeting. we have seen meetings with president tsai and the reaction to hold war games. the leadership there says that china's president, jinping has instructed military to be ready for potential invasion by 2027. that is not very far away and being ready doesn't necessarily mean it's going to happen right at the moment but what is your current assessment to have likelihood of china actually moving on taiwan at new point in the near future? >> first of all, the 2027 date is probably, it could actually

be much sooner than that which is critically important the congress pushing to move weapons into taiwan and the region in order to prevent chinese aggression. so the time is now, the time is yesterday frankly to make sure that we can get all the weapons in there. so congress mccaul is exactly right. i'm proud of hudson institute where i work for giving president tsai the global leadership award in new york and that's because there's great solidarity across from the american people not just congress for taiwan, for taiwan to make decisions for itself. it's really us who are defending the status quo and it's critically important that everybody is clear here that it's the chinese communist party that is trying to change the status quo by force. molly: is the u.s. ready and if we are looking at a 5-year timeline you are suggesting even less, is the u.s. ready? what would readiness entail? >> the biden administration

deserves credit for getting basing agreements with military and other allies in the region and now you have to get capacity, boots on the ground, reboot military industrial base that's been asleep since the cold war because of the holiday democrats and republicans have taken. you have to be doing that quickly to produce the necessary weapons at scale. have to get them into the region. we have the capability to do that now to some extent but it will come from the top, biden administration which is why i'm grateful that you have republicans and democrats demonstrating the strong support for taiwan. one last point on this, taiwan is just the first thing that the chinese communist party wants, they have global ambitions to replace the united states and so yes, it would create a global recession if they were to take taiwan but that's just the beginning. it would be devastating for the american people and economy security, prosperity if china was allowed to prevail. molly: the united states has had ongoing policy. strategic ambiguity, is it time

for the strategic ambiguity to change? >> i'm not comfortable with that yet. if i was persuaded that that was necessary to successfully give the taiwanese the assurance that they want, then i would be supportive of that. for now it's the status quo. it's the prc that's using the visits with tasi here in the u.s. and mccaul in taiwan, they are using as pretext to really conduct practice exercises of what they'd want to do anyway to actually launch that invasion against taiwan. molly: ongoing conflict ukraine and russia. china has been seemingly getting more friendly with russia. how concerning is that and is there any sort of tie that we should be aware of on what that could mean for taiwan? >> people's republic of china and the russian federation are close for intents and purposes allies now so it's a mistake to look at what is going on in

ukraine separately from what's going on from china's threats to taiwan. they are directly related and it's necessary for the united states to back ukraine to prevail so we can make sure that nato is strong and we can focus on the chinese aggression problem in taiwan. but certainly this is direct line from joe biden's precipitous withdrawal from afghanistan. that was a nato mission. that was a huge blow to nato and opened the door to signal to russia that they could invade ukraine because the united states simply isn't willing to do the task of being global leader. molmolly: we appreciate it. griff. griff: >> well, ukrainian forces prepare for a counteroffensive, war documents including ones marked as top secret surfaced on telegram, social media form with over 500 million users. the pentagon is now investigating the leak. senior correspondent mike tobin

has more from kyiv. hey, mike. mike: in fact, griff, the department of justice has been tasked with investigating the leak of classified document that is appeared on social media pages. some of the documents about ukrainian and russian casualties as they appeared on social media had clearly been manipulated for propaganda services. more than 100 classified documents were leaked. they contain a broad swath of information. weapon shipments, rates that ukrainians are burning through shells, even locations on the battlefield. military experts say russia got a gift with this leak. >> the will of the ukrainian fighting force is very significant. they will take territory back as a result of offensive. the leak is outrageous. we have given the enemy advantage that they don't deserve to have for sure. mike: adviser to president zelenskyy react today the leak

molly: title 42 a pandemic-era border policy is expected to end next month and some experts are warning this could lead to a surge in people attempting to cross the border. meanwhile migrants and drugs are already streaming into the u.s. at an alarming pace. matt finn is standing right there in eagle pass, texas with the latest, matt. matt: hi, molly it's been slow in eagle pass in terms of larger groups. earlier this week rescue of migrants. the river is high and moving fast which makes it difficult to cross and also we are told that migrants might be honoring the holy week this week but all across the southern border there are still got aways and migrants illegally crossing. one example of that is over in arizona, yuma sector says migrants covered themselves in tan sheets in an effort to blend in with the desert floor after

illegally crossing the border this week. also near fort brown, texas agents seized 140 pounds of marijuana. the rio grande valley has seen the most seizures this year, more than 11,000 pounds recovered and texas dps reports seizing 1.3 million doses of fentanyl in a single bust, a traffic stop in culbertson county. the program will also ship 20,000 doses of fentanyl reversing narcan to every county here in texas. >> last year 2012 texans lost their lives because of fentanyl. when you think about it, that is on average more than 5 people in texas losing their life every day because of fentanyl.

are taking possibly an opioid that they are buying and actually poisoning them and killing them. the problem is just the same in new mexico, however, we used to have national guard on the border to help our border patrol agents to help them with preparing vehicles making sure they can fix four wheelers and the systems in ways except enforcing the law because border patrols can do that. when i left office the national guard men and women were removed from the border so the assistance is not growing. our numbers are grow to go the el paso sector which we respond and ordered 35,000 in one week period. 35,000 people crossing illegally in one week. what is it going to be like once title 42 is removed? griff: it's going to be chaos. i want to get to that. you mentioned the 35,000 apprehensions. you know, let me show you on our

12 and 17-year-old are behind bars for alleged roles in the case. the two juveniles in custody so far, the sheriff says they both even confessed to one of the killings. now back on march 30th, deputies discovered a -- discovered 16-year-old layla shot in the head and dying at a construction site. the sheriff says the attackers drove off in her white chevy and at some point less than a mile away discarded the body of 17-year-old male victim. shot and killed and then on saturday, detectives found the chevy partially submerged in a body of water 9-miles away with the third victim in the trunk. 16-year-old camil, detectives say all the suspects were involved in low-level gang activity and knew the 3 victims. as for what let up to this, the suspects turned on those who were killed.

live gives veterans the opportunity to talk about their experiences through music and multimedia storytelling and here is james, cofounder of modern warrior live. he joins us live. he has served 3 deployments in afghanistan, james, welcome to our program. thank you so much for your service and thank you for giving up a little time on easter weekend and thank you for using your enormous talents to draw other people's talents to the surface. and that's where i kind of want to start, modern warrior live, how does it work, how do people get involved and how does the give and take happen? >> yeah, thanks and thanks for having me, molly. our organization has two activities, one activity being our actual touring stage production that, you know, it's really an immersive experience bringing world-class music, narration and multimedia together, we have done that over 130 times around the country

amazon, rikers island, little bit of everywhere, high school, large performing art centers. so there we try to use entertainment to bring people in from the community, share and experience hopefully they can relate to and start communication within not just their family units but the community as a whole and then we bring resources as well. so on site we will have resources and the lobby to have warm handoff if someone wants to apply for va benefits. that's a workshop in which we bring veterans and we sit down and we just work through them, work through with them to help them share whatever they want to share with their loved ones and that message is theirs and we just use our method of storytelling. >> just to be able to share is helping me a lot to move

forward, to get past what had happened. i'm also feeling the post traumatic, you feel like you're making progress because ptsd is not going to go away. as long as i'm moving forward and making progress and not going backwards and to be able to share the story to help people that are feeling that are victims to survivor and that's what posttraumatic growth is about. molly: what do you see when you work with veterans? >> i see a lot of individuals that they want to communicate and have hard time communicating, whether they want to have deep conversation with loved ones about how their experiences shaped their relationship with them or have worked through something and they want to share that path with others to try to help them work through whatever they might be dealing with as well. molly: quickly, how can people that are interested in this, that see the talent in all of these individuals which is
