killed rising following yesterday's rampage at old national bank louisville slugger field. all five victims were banks employees. at least 8 others were hurt, including two police officers 26-year-old officer nicholas wilt is clinging to life after getting shot in the head while lungeing towards the gunman. >> officer nicholas wilt, just graduated from the police academy on march 31st. he was struck in the, engaged in this incident. nick has come out of brain surgery and is in critical but stable condition. >> police have identified the suspected shooter as 25-year-old conner st sturgeon, officials sy he was employee at old national bank but recently told he was being let go. police say he opened fire on his co-workers just before the bank opened yesterday morning. witnesses heard gunfire in a conference room sending them running for their lives.

governor credit. we have only -- i have only senile him on the national scene in times of tragedy. remarkably composed, especially after losing two friends and a third struggling for their life and the other thing is for him to say i'm not talking politics now. i'm not talking about guns or anything else. i thought that's a lesson for leadership. governor was very emotional. fighting back the tears when he was announcing that his good friend. tomi elliott, who was 63. one of his best friends he said he talked to him not about politics. he talked to him about what was going on everyday lives. close to him and one of the ones that was killed. "the daily mail" did an article or wrote an article and interviewed some of his friends one guy said i played football with him. he was out most of the year 8th grade because he had multiple concussions and few more in high school. that's why he would wear if you look at any of the pictures of

when asked about running again rumors are he is putting off into the fall an announcement. an announcement for the fall. it makes sense if you are joe biden because clearly he does not have a lot of energy. he is not good on the stump. he doesn't attract big crowds. what he does is get donors because people pour money into the democratic leadership. he probably doesn't have opponent. he would rather see republicans tear each other apart and brawl like always happens in a primary obama and hemmer. rather than him get into the fray and maybe part of being a candidate. part of politics so he looks like he is putting it off into the fall or is he? >> steve: does sound like it. sounds like the chaos is going tone sue on the republican side. keep in mind the the story is that ron desantis will get in major blow back from donald trump we would imagine at the conclusion of the legislative session down in florida. listen, i have got to give hats off to al roker across the street at nbc.

affairs committee and joins us now. congressman, how would you currently assess the risk and the tensions between the u.s. and china and why does taiwan matter? >> >> tensions are high. i have compared it before to say it's the new east-west germany of this cold war between china and the united states of america. there is a big difference in this. it's going much more to hard power than it is to espionage and spy games with what we see taking place. you mentioned a number of things. i'm not going to recap everything you mentioned but those war games quote, unquote, precision strikes on key targets in taiwan, that's what china was doing is wasn't just a few ships and aircraft. 70 bombers, 70 jets. a dozen navy vessels. you picture that like fleet week in new york. that's nothing compared to what went on there. look at why this matters to the united states of america. this is a collision of two great powers. and the world is watching to see

what will that hedge of stability look like across the globe. you have macron and france already backing away which is a symbol of what nato is looking at right now saying don't get involved with this china u.s. conflict. and the difference for the world is that freedom and democracy stood up for or communist china that leads the globe and everybody falls under their suppression? >> brian: congressman, as you know, taiwan is no threat to china but their existence is a threat to china. they will know what their life can be. it's a very short flight to taiwan. they have relatives there. they tell them what freedom is actually like. what it is like to live in a free narcotic economy. they don't want that on their doorstep. and they want to begin to build themselves out. do you think that south korea, japan. even vietnam want us to take and australia want us to take a more active role or are they worried if we get more active it might

bring china to war? >> no. i think they want to see our active participation. they want to see our strength. and they are in a difficult position to voice that go back to taiwan to talk about this. in the face of the war games that china was conducting they are not going to escalate or do something that causes further dispute. you are talking about a nation. they don't have a second amendment there their ability to arm themselves as a population is basically none. so if they were invaded they don't have the same capability to fight back as, say, ukrainians do with their weaponry and armament that just sat around the country from russia being present there that's not the same capability they they had. they need to see america there but they don't have the same capability to just speak about it because of their presence. >> brian: all right. i want to bring another story. it's one of the biggest stories getting bigger by the day. up until last week we did not know that our intel has been compromised. our conversation have been public. the small web sites and now it's

the other officer, nic wilt, who graduated from the academy less than two weeks ago is in critical but stable condition. >> meanwhile, joining us on the couch retired new york city police department inspector paul mauro joins us now. >> good morning. >> you always hate to hear a story about somebody doing their job 10 days out of the academy fighting for his life right now. >> really just another horrible aspect of this story. he is out not longer than -- put it this way his academy graduation week was longer than he was on the street. right? and he runs towards this. one of the things that i think people don't take into account is that he is a patrol cop. he is not sort of swatted up. where he has got vests on and a big cage, and a long gun. these are patrol cops. >> steve: he just jumped out of a car. >> jumps out of a car and handgun and running towards something that he can almost certainly sound from the sound of it and circumstances he will be facing a much more powerful weapon. so they know they are outgunned.

have a whole new demographic to look at that i never did. >> ainsley: when you talk to someone older, if they are not happy in their job get another job they say the same thing i'm too old, no one is going to hire me. in your case you have had huge success. what's the difference? they are staying off their phones, that was one example you told the "wall street journal." what else? >> that is a -- that, unfortunately, is something that follows younger generation the phone has to be in their hand, they have to consistently look at it. i'm trying to get them to engage customers. and, you know, be personable. so, i think the older population, because cell phones are a newer thing, they never were brought up with it and it's refreshing. they start at 9:00. they get here at 10 to. they leave at 5:00. busy they will put the extra time in without having to ask. i don't -- i'm not sure how to quantify it but it is a different work ethic and it is

transportation. at the mall you see these public charging stations all over the place. and you are right. we have been tracking. '21 we started to see it happening. and now really starting to see it take off. the problem with it you don't even know that after you have charged at one of these public charging stations that you have been hacked. you have no idea that anything happened. because, as you are charging, data can also get into your phone, including malware which enables a hacker to monitor your entire digital life. every time you go your bank. every time you use a credit card to go shopping. they will capture all of this until they have this rich and juicy file on you. all of a sudden you open up your bank account one day wait a minute, that's not right. exactly. and then worst case would be into your finances for long-term retirement accounts you want to always protect all that. >> steve: absolutely. you have got some tips as you just said. avoid the public charging stations.

use your own charging cable. protection on all devices and use a portable battery instead of public outlets. kurt, if you see one of those things and says plug your usb cable in there and into your phone is, that safe or you want a whole charger? you want from the charger to the capacable to be yours. >> you want to bring the regular power jack power outlet. do not plug your phone or tablet or any device into a powered usb plug at any of these public outlets whether you are at the mall and it seems really safe and like hey, there's a bunch of people doing it why don't i? very, very bad idea. and the problem, again, you won't know that you got attacked and the prevalence of this is growing exponentially right now. hackers are just, it's just a nightmare at this point. best way to stay protected is to have that antivirus protection on all your devices and also
