united states eau status as reserve currently in the -- currency in the world. there is an effort to diminish the united states and the dollar as the world's currency of exchange. we talked about the bric nation, brazil, russia, india, china, south africa looking to do something to shift that power away from the u.s. well, we'll go to silva, the president of brazil. he spoke about this with china, and here is what he had to say on thursday. >> translator: every night i ask myself why all countries are forced to do their trade backed by the dollar. why can't we do our trade backed by our currency? why are we not committed to innovating? pete: i mean, this is really, really dangerous for our country considering the status that we have, the extent of our debt. if we can't finance ask trade on that debt, that's, that is our

achilles heel that china knows. so china's expanding its orbit, pushing other countries like brazil and others to come into that orbit. brics is a correct challenge to america and the west -- direct challenge. they want to bring us to heel. rachel: no, absolutely. and so there's a conversation about the currency which which we've been having on this show quite often. there's also a conversation about this administration and our state department and, you know, our diplomats who should have been able to predict that brazil's ruler would do in this, that he would talk to the chinese, and yet it is joe bide season and our state department and even our social media companies who helped elect that guy. there was lots of interference many that election, and brazilians were tell you that that all over the map, and they wanted the other guy out because he was a trump ally, and what we get in return is this. this is one of the most self-defeating alliances when

anybody who knew even an ounce about latin america would have known that lula was a hard-leftist who was going to turn to the chinese. it's a huge problem. and the other problem that the state department has is they are not doing enough to help american businesses expand in latin america. china is filling that gap. it is a massive, a massive problem. will: what we heard from saudi arabia, what we just heard from brazil is largely about whether or not you conduct international business in the dollar or some other currency, the chai please yuan, perhaps. there are two elements, there is being the world's reserve current city. where do you mark your -- park your excess money? right now it's the been in the dollar, in united states treasuries, but there's a reason. it's because our economy has been the most stable the, our fed has protected to some extent, at least within the realm of expectations, the value of the dollar. and there's an assumption the united states is backed by the

rule of law are. you know, a predictable rule of law. but you have to ask yourself, have not all of those things been undercut over the past two decades? inflationary policies of the fed, we constantly undermine our own rule of law. it's about, in the end, it's t really about one word, trust. and has united states not trachen that -- faken that trusr granted. pete: after we went off the gold standard, the full and credit of the united states backs the dollar. how much faith do you have in our institutions right now and the credit that they can maintain? countries are looking at -- you're looking at china, that's a scary picture because you know exactly what that regime's all about if you're willing to turn that direction. rachel: and our government is moving towards a digital the currency that would give them the same kind of surveillance power as china. china's doing their thing, but it's odd we're also move anything that direction as well. pete: when it comes to the latin america, the only thing we're exporting our diplomats, you

pete: the 21-year-old suspect now charged under the espionage act in the massive leak of military secrets posted on social media, this is just the latest case of mishandled top secret documents as the federal government classifies more than 50 million documents every year. so is u.s. government's system for labeling and rack thing classified documents -- tracking classified documents broken? let's ask florida congressman cory mills who sits on the house armed services committee and sees plenty of classified information. congressman, part of the problem here is that so much gets classified that you need additional clearances to see it, and it all gets ramped up. >> well, that's exactly right. i mean, we have many documents which are able to be found in an open source information or open source intel capability that we have classified. but when we talk about this scenario here in particular, however, what it does is that it's wail the uncovered the fact that not only are the -- use of

military force from the '01-'02 era being completely abused by many presidents on the left and the right, but these types of information or intel leaks are actually disclosing the fact that there's been an ab key case and a bypassing of congress in article i with regards to the opposition of war powers. pete: so, yeah. we still don't quite know the motives of this leaker. they say he wanted to look cool in a chat room, but what he has are revealed ultimately shows the government not telling us the truth and overstepping its bounds, to your point. i mean, is this something that congress or others will actually act on based on what we've learned? >> well, we absolutely should. and, you know, the sad part is just about a month ago we voted on the repeal of the '01-'02 as regards to the withdrawing our troop size in syria. and what we noted and i noted was the fact that we have been utilize aring a abdication of duties under the aumf that essentially have been utilize ared now for purposes they were

never intended for for 20-plus years. so this certainly demonstrates that. but to your point from an earlier statement is that, one, i purposefully think that this individual has released it to look cool or try and go ahead and disclose some type of a top secret or classified information doesn't understand that it not only endangers the lyes of thosn range, but it also is a complete violation of what we're trying to do by keeping our information secure. and this has been a big issue within the dod for a long time. pete, as you know, when we go into a scif to get a classified briefing, in most cases our documents not only have numbers on them, but once we're done with the briefing, they are recounted and gathered up to guarantee that you do not have any documents when you go outside. and now in addition to that before we even walk into the scif, we're checked to make sure we don't have an apple watch, we don't have our phones, we don't have the ability to take photos

or record anything. the fact that this individual was able to do that shows that the system needs to be, basically, revamped. pete: it's true, that's the other side of it. when you compromise the type of information, you compromise the lives of people doing difficult, dark, dirty work on our behalf in silence that we never know about that now have the threat of being exposed. i recall a scif in afghanistan that, while it was controlled, if you wanted to come in and out, you probably could have printed something out and taken it out. a lot of it comes down to humans. you swear to defend the constitution, and we have to take people at hair word, and when they don't, you get stuff like this. >> well, you're exactly right. and, again, i can remember even in baghdad, we'd go into the intel cell, and there was very, very little screening as we'd go into and out of the room. pete: yeah. >> there is overclass iification where we overfrom asfy documents. two, this individual -- while he may have tried to do something for a look cool appearance, you know, as we noted earlier, it

roolings rick mic muth for our fox weather fore mast. rick rec do you remember last weekend, it was so cold. we were freezing, and then we got up to 90 degrees in new york city this week. big roller coaster with temperatures for so many people. take a look at the maps, we're starting to see temps come down just a little bit around the northeast, new york at 63. 66 still in chicago, cold air's bottled up across parts of the west where we also were really warm. new york city, two days in a row over 90 degrees in the month of april, absolutely crazy. right now we've got some storms heading across parts of missouri, later on today this is going to be a severe threat, the fires up across parts of the south where you see that darker color, likely looking at some pretty significant hail, but we will also have the threat for a tornado or two. and then to the north of that we've got some snow that's going to be falling by tomorrow afternoon and monday, back again across parts of minnesota and wisconsin. i just mixed minnesota and mississippi somehow and made a new state, guys.
