we begin with a sweet 16 birthday celebration in alabama, taking a tragic turn. police say at least four people are dead, several more hurt after someone fired into the crowd. hello everyone this is a brand-new hour of fox news 55 arthel neville. twenty-four hello everyone thank you for joining us i'm eric sean. details on this alabama mass shooting are still coming into our newsroom. so far this is what we know. police that happened about 10:30 p.m. last night and that's about
9:01 am
an hours drive north of montgomery, alabama. they say it started with an argument that turned into a gunfight at the mahogany master pissed dance studio during a sweet 16 party. so far though there is no word on the suspect or the suspect who did this. arthel: i'm sorry eric, let's go to charles watson right now. he has live in dadeville with the very latest on this. what more can you tell us? >> good afternoon arthel and eric. not a lot of confirmed information to go off of from police. within 12 hours after this trip recorded mass shooting happened. still chasing down details as you can probably see behind me authorities are still out at the crime scene of the reported mass shooting take place. investigators have worked through the night and relate through the morning combing through evidence and trying to figure out what exactly hap happened. i stepped out of the shot you can see a lot of the focus has been on this brick building.
9:02 am
in fact a few moments ago, less than an hour ago saw investigators come out with a white sheet to try to cover up the horrific images that may lie behind those doors. alabama law enforcement agency, which is leading this investigation confirms four people were killed in a number of other victims were injured following the shooting. linked to a birthday party around 10:30 p.m. central time saturday night for there are reports most of the victims were teenagers. but law enforcement has not confirmed that detail just yet. we have not heard anything so far about a suspect. law enforcement said they are working around the clock on this on, take a listen. >> this is going to be a long couple can process. but we thank you all the support we will continue to go through

the scene and get the facts and assure justice. this would do know a lot of the victims were transported to russell medical center in alexandria. the city less than 20 miles from dadeville. a spokesperson tells fox news a hospital treated and released multiple victims. they tell several other victims with gunshot wounds were transferred to different hospitals that get a better care for their injuries. a spokesperson did not elaborate on that. the number of victims don't know yet what led to the shooting. investigators have not release that information just yet through just got word from the white house and president biden has also been briefed on the shooting and has been in contact with local authorities to try to offer assistance but we do expect and of the press conference of local authorities
9:04 am
in the next couple of hours. hopefully we can bring you guys more details arthel and eric. >> all of this at a sweet 16 birthday party. charles watson live in dadeville, alabama thank you charles. before arthel, teenagers believed a course the many victims because it was a sweet 16 party. grandmother and that alan says the party was attended by her 16-year-old grandson. he was a high school athlete. she said he was killed. his mother also at the party her daughter wounded by the gunfire. they just wanted to enjoy a birthday party she is reported to have said but we have to be standing and waiting for bodies to be brought out. former fbi investigator bill daley with us now on more of this. bill, what does this tell you when there's a sweet 16 party, shooters come in or a shooter, how do authorities track them down? could it be jealousy? a grudge, gang-related, or romantic in terms of a motive?
9:05 am
what's it could be all the above or any one we just do not know yet. there are so many unknowns including is a shooter on the loose? the police had not indicated whether they are searching for an individual or the community is in any danger which kind of suggests to me they have an idea who the shooter it might be or whereabouts of that shooter whether he was wary victims or he or was one of the victims. there are so many factors that play care with regard to -- we do not know if the shooter or shooters were teenagers, whether they were grown-ups. we do not know whether the weapons were illegal, illegal. we just do not have any of these details but it's very difficult to get too far over our skis and so to very specifically about this incident. other than they seem to be on it. they have the resources of the federal government, atf, fbi supporting local and state police. support seems awfully teenagers and our country or a grudge or something like that and the guns
9:06 am
are coming out. obviously at least that happened in this case. what is wrong with the culture and what is wrong with what is going on? >> are certain social logical issues that are prevalent in our society that are allowing this to happen. i also think we start focusing on some of these issues. if not all cases in the past three weeks we've had three tragic incidents. we'll place, workplace and now we have won a recreation place that occurred. i look at something instances but it can be an access issue. it isn't gun safety, and gun ownership responsibilities of these cases. going to put aside cases we have illegal weapons which is a whole other topic to discuss. politicians can react to say gun control any guns off the street. according to government statistics is probably about 3 million guns in this country. some of them are rudimentary
9:07 am
ones. these can killed six people with a shot of each one of the chambers of a revolver. we are speaking about a large issue here how people control the weapons and safety issues. they woke speculate perhaps it was a teenager involved they cannot purchase the weapon themselves take it from home or get it from someone else. what was a safety issue their question for people controlling, people have access to them. we kind of lose sight of the forest for the trees. look at what the issues are at the weapons, long guns, semi automatic weapon or whether it is revolvers can kill many people in a short period of time. i think it really gets down to getting control of the weapons for the people who own them. make sure they are safely stored. making sure people should not have access to them. do not have access including those people who may have emotional, mental, other issues an empty process in place to be
9:08 am
able to restrict temporary access to those people who may pose a threat. not only to themselves but to society. for there so many guns these teenagers seem to get. let me go over stats i would ever since friday for this we can hear the number of teenagers who'd been shot dead in our country in north carolina 17 year old a 16 year old, chicago another 16-year-old. and no a 17 year old, delaware and of the 17-year-old. a 15-year-old d.c. another 16-year-old. this, 70 teenagers dead just since friday. here's a look at u.s. gun deaths up 50% in two years, 46% with teenagers as you can see those stats. right now gun deaths, shootings the leading cause of death for u.s. kids and teens. now 18.7% over vehicle crashes. bill, how many dead kids will congress accept?
9:09 am
how many dead kids on the streets of our country with this carnage can we accept before something is done. whether it is the culture, consuming ammunition, fill it restrictions, what would you suggest? can this at all be stopped when it's part of the culture where they think the way to settle a dispute is to pull out a gun. >> it is all tight level issue hear from top of the sociological issues we talk about the legal issues you talk about access issues. for people to be notified of people to take notification to authorities when someone should not have a weapon. it's a rubik's cube of issues that need to line up. i'm not saying is insurm insurmountable. when we come up with a one-size-fits-all or stop this or restrict that that's not really the answer. there so many weapons that are out there in society in general. there's so much access to them.
9:10 am
gun owners and people around them. it is notification when we think someone to be acting out who could have access to a weapon he could gain access to a weapon. looking at the legal market. the illegal weapons that come into this country from both outside as well as those that change hands inside are really tremendous. we need to focus on those. nothing in this case that's us responsible here but it is a issue that needs to be tackled. we focus a lot of people owning the guns legally and forget about all this other weapons that go into some the street crimes in places like chicago and other places that kill many, many young people. eric: of congressman jeff of andrew joining us in a few moments. on the jordan hearings being held in new york on exactly that issue and i urge reviewers to stay tuned for that. good to see you and be on this when they assessments down. thank you.
