it is google allowing federal government to monitor g-mail or messenger and what's app? remember the big scandal under george w. bush monitoring e-mails, elon said the federal government is doing that actively in private communications. >> todd: such a revealing interview. part two is tonight. you're watching "fox and friends first"s, i'm todd piro. >> ashley: i'm ashley strohmier, in for carley shimkus. elon musk warns of ai and he gives us information on what he's working on now. good morning, jackie ibanez. >> part one of the interview with tucker carlson and elon musk aired last night.
1:02 am
musk called for stricter regulation of artificial intelligence. listen. >> it is dangerous to the public. when you have things dangerous to the public, like say food and drugs, we have the food and drug administration and the federal aviation administration, the fcc, we have agencies to oversee things that affect the public. where they could be public harm. and you don't want to come up and be cutting corners on safety. and then having people suffer as a result. so that is why i've actually for a long time been a strong advocate of ai regulation. >> in addition to artificial intelligence being a danger to the general public, musk says it threatens companies like twitter, it could become smart enough to manipulate public

train ai to be appalling. i will start truth gpt or maximum truth-seeking ai that tries to discover the universe and might be the best path to safety in the sense ai that cares about understanding the universe is unlikely to annihilate humans because we are an interesting part of the universe, hopefully they will think that. >> also during the interview, musk says some government agencies have full access to twitter, including users direct messages and users will soon be able to encrypt their messages. government yaujs had full access to twitter, that blew my mind. >> would that include people's dm's? >> yes, a dm is not encrypted. one thing we're about to release
1:05 am
is dm encrypter, able to toggle encryption on or off. if you are in a conversation that is sensitive, you can toggle it on and they could put a gun to my head and i couldn't tell it. >> part two airs tonight at 8:00 p.m. ashley and todd. >> todd: can't wait. with that, bring in grace curleymuch grace, let's break down and start with ai. do you feel better or worse about ai following that interview with elon musk? >> you know, it is hard to say. last time i was on your show, you had a guest talking about this same thing. there are positives on ai and we don't want to fall behind on that. there are country, china, for

example, that are involved in developing ai, i don't think taking ourselves out of the ring is a good idea. when elon musk says listen, we're going to try to insert truth into the narrative and have ai that can give people the facts and not the politically correct version, that does give me hope and think there is a way forward with ai that is scaring people. >> ashley: when ai specialists say there needs to be a pause, you don't agree with that? >> i don't. really when it comes to ai, experts know more about it, i think we would be doing ourselves a disservice to take ourselves out of the game. other countries will continue and we don't want to fall behind on what is crucial in so many industries. >> todd: another major reveal

messages, it is very chilling. another part i think needs to be talked about is how this should be a major story and yes, on fox, it will be and other outlets, it will be. for a lot of people, this will not pass their path. ted cruz was comparing this to other scandals in the past, but the media used to of coer these things and i'm afraid this will not put a blip on the radar for a lot of outlets. >> ashley: i thought about that same scenario. now to this. governor ron desantis heading to washington today. he is ramping up his fight with disney with this new proposal. listen. >> you look at this whole special district, walt disney corporation owns a lot of it, but the district owns other
