>> todd: a fox news alert, major revelation from elon musk in part one of his whirlwind interview with tucker carlson. it includes the extent of government overreach he's uncovered at twitter and his plans to protect your privacy. >> if i got something unconstitutional from the u.s. governor, i would send them a copy of the first amendment and say what part of this are we getting wrong? >> what elon is saying the government is intercepting and monitoring dm's, raises question about the rest of big tech. it is google allowing the federal government to monitor g-mail. is facebook monitoring messenge and what's app?
2:01 am
this is, remember the big scandal under george w. bush about the program monitoring people's e-mails, elon said the federal government is doing that actively in private communication. >> todd: an eye-opening interview. you are watching "fox and friends first," i'm todd piro. >> ashley: i'm ashley strohmier in for carley shimkus. another major focus of the sitdown is musk warning about artificial intelligence and he gives us information on the software he is working on now. jackie ibanez is here. good morning, jackie. >> jackie: elon musk's candid interview with tucker carlson aired last night. musk called for stronger government regulation of artificial intelligence. listen. >> it's a danger to the public. when you have things that are danger to the public, like let's
2:02 am
say, food and drug, that is why we have the food and drug administration and federal aviation administration, the fcc, agencies to oversee what affects the public when there could be public harm and you don't want companies cutting corners on safety and then having people suffer as a result. so that is why i have for a long time been a strong advocate of ai regulation. >> jackie: in addition to artificial intelligence danger to the public, musk says it threatens companies like twitter, it could become smart enough to manipulate public opinion. >> if you have super intelligent ai that can write well in way that is very influential,
2:03 am
convincing and constantlily figuring out what is more convincing to people over time and enter social media, for example twitter and facebook and others and potentially manipulates public opinion in way that is very bad, how would we even know? >> jackie: what will elon musk do about the rising threat of ai? musk says he's working on his own alternative to chat gpt called truth gpt. >> i'm worried about the fact it is being viewed politically correct, simply another way of saying untruthful things. that is bad time. this is path to ai dystopia, to train ai to be appalling. i will start something called truth gpt or maximum truth-seeking ai that tries to understand nature of the universe. i think this might be the best
2:04 am
path to safety in the sense that ai that cares about understanding the universe is unlikely to annihilate humans bau we are interesting part of the universe hopefully they would think that. >> jackie: second part of musk's interview with tucker carlson airs tonight at 8:00, bound to be very, very good. >> todd: part one any indication, part two will be crazy. thank you. we talk, do we like it or not, that is irrelevant discussion now. it is here, we better get used to it and adapt to it. it has been here, great point. the question, what do we do about regulation? we are not big fans of regulation, but the government needs to regulate this. forget about the gas stove regulation, i'm not worried my gas stove will murder me in middle of the night or give me misinformation, maybe focus on this now.
2:05 am
>> ashley: when he talks about truth gpt, i've been having major conversations with my brother, a super techie guy. he said, the tech world is been talking about this for a long time, it is nothing new. he mentioned last week, we'll have an instance where it is good ai versus bad ai, like good people versus bad people. there has to be thought put in code to come up with scenarios like you see on what was this, chaos gpt that was frightening last week. i think something like truth gpt that elon musk will be creating, i wish he would create it faster, like for those to be done first. i do think like you said, it is here, we have to deal with it and hope and pray for the best. even his friends are saying, this is what we want to do.
2:06 am
it is scary. >> todd: we need regulation, we don't like regulation, it needs to be done. >> ashley: when we were the smartest creatures on the planet and now we've created something smarter than us, there has to be regulation for this. >> todd: look how dangerous this can be, it can be good. listen to this next story. a mom horrified after getting a ransom call for her daughter, she was the victim of a scam from an ai bot thatten cloed her daughter's voice. that mom and her daughter sharing that insane experience with us earlier. watch this. >> this man on speaker phone using all kind of foul language, screaming and yelling and saying my daughter had hit him in a vehicle accident situation and you better get here now, i'm going to take care of her. i called the police and they are saying this is possibly a scam situation. i said there is no way this is a scam, this is my daughter's
2:07 am
voice, like this wasn't just some person pretending. as a mother, you know your daughter's voice. >> todd: the family does not believe they were targeted by someone they know, that makes it more scary someone can pluck this in a foreign country and do that. >> ashley: this is the scary stuff i'm talking about, it will infiltrate every aspect of life. >> todd: elon musk revealing government had full access to your private messages on twitter. >> the degree to which government agencies had full access to everything that was going on on twitter blew my mind. i was not aware of that. >> todd: tell you what elon musk uncovered about government overreach in big tech and get tomi lahren's reactsion. >> ashley: top democrats getting canned for this bud light photo op, the details right after this.
