>> dana: thank you. >> bill: before we go want to show you something cool now. surprising light blue swirl spotted in the skies above alaska. viewers thought it went on social media. it with as a spacex fuel dump after a california rocket launch likely caused it. that's like van gogh. >> dana: harris faulkner is up next. here she is. >> harris: a fox news alert. it is big rick it's green, progressive. is it legal? the head of the environmental protection agency right now expecting a storm of questions from house republicans demanding answers on the federal government forcing us to buy electric and kill gas for our cars and our stoves. i'm harris faulkner and you are in "the faulkner focus." we're looking at capitol hill. there is a lot going on this hour. house agriculture committee could examine all of the new epa
8:01 am
rules. they call massive government overreach. front and center the strict new auto emissions rule introduced last week aiming to get rid of gas-powered vehicles by mandating electric vehicles account for 2/3 of all new sales in 2032. senate democrat joe manchin is joining the republicans on stopping the epa on this. he said the, perks a is lying to americans with false claims and how their manipulation of the market will help american energy security. in reality, this is a trojan horse that will only result in a more energy secure and powerful china. another topic that could be on today's committee agenda, the administration's campaign against how we cook. gas stoves. you know it faced fierce backlash when it first popped a few months ago.
8:02 am
republican congresswoman claudia tenney. >> our energy policy is going to be a disaster. there is nothing wrong with fossil fuels. in fact, they can be lifesavers. we depend on them to produce the food we need to have still fuel driven cars that aren't going to be just electric. >> harris: fox business correspondent grady trimble is on capitol hill. that's the thing. is this legal for them to press us this way? >> harris, republicans say no whether it's clean water rules impacting farmers and ranchers or electric vehicle and gas stove regulations that would impact a lot more americans. those are all areas where conservatives say the biden administration is overstepping its authority in many cases to push its green energy agenda. today's hearing in the house is the first time republican lawmakers will have a chance to grill the epa chief since he announced the new tailpipe emission standards.
8:03 am
that is part of president biden's push to get more americans behind the wheels of electric vehicles. separately but related to the biden administration's green agenda, the department of energy has proposed new gas stove rules that could block the sale of about half of the gas stove models on the market right now. gop lawmakers are pushing back on both fronts saying those rules will only raise costs for americans. >> let the forces of the market innovation drive this transition, not the heavy hand of joe biden and the democrats. this is all part of their green hallucination, they are pursuing this like a religion, this ideology of climate. the sad part about it the losers are the american people and winners will be russia and china. >> there has always been a push in major cities across the country to ban natural gas in new construction. well, that effort could be going up in flames.
8:04 am
that's because a judge sided with restaurant owners berkeley, california says it violates the law to ban gas in new buildings. >> harris: thank you very much. we'll go to this now. same subject a little bit. new op-ed calls biden and the media electric vehicle grifters. they broke down the numbers and found the president's plan would reduce global emissions by fewer than 2%. no,.2%, let me correct that. it is even worse. recent polling shows americans seem to like gasoline power. just 19% say they were very or extremely likely to go out and buy an electric vehicle. they say gas and charging stations, availability are their top concerns. you have more of one, far more than you do the other. fox news contributor and editor

at large for the spectator. i like how you just get to the point. why are they forcing beautiful square people down a round hole? >> i think that one of the things, harris, that is so clear to understand about this administration is that they would be doing this regardless of any of the outcomes in question. they are not doing it based on the actual science and not doing it based on the actual security policy when it comes to what we can do to try to shift people in one direction or another. this is all about them micro managing the way people live and behave. as steve danes said there it is a situation where there is more religion going on here than actual focus on the outcomes of their policy. as joe manchin said this is something that would actually make us more beholding the china in terms of relying on all the different materials they produce that go into these cars, into these batteries that are so essential for them working. that's the opposite of an
8:06 am
administrative agenda to put america's interests first and that's the thing we need to understand what's going wrong with this administrations energy policy. >> harris: we have major breaking news in alabama. the sweet 16 party where they had a massive shooting, 15 people shot, four killed have been arrests in the case. let's watch. >> they will be entitled to a bond hearing. it will have to occur within 72 hours. the state of alabama are requesting no bond. that's up to a judge to decide. that will be the state of alabama's position. after that an initial court appearance. then a preliminary hearing and then this information, depending on the outcome will go to a grand jury. the grand jury system in alabama operates differently in each circuit. here in our county the grand jury convenes twice a year. once in march and then once again in september.
8:07 am
once the grand jury is im paneled in march they're still the grand jury for that six-month period. we can recall the grand jury to present an indictment under special situations. hasn't been done that i'm aware of any time recently here. this is an unprecedented situation. if we can establish the facts and ready to present that we'll be asking our grand jury to come back in to present that. >> harris: we've been watching the latest on this. two people have been arrested now and you see the circuit court there, their representative there is moving ahead with this case. we'll follow it again. 15 people shot, four killed in dadeville, alabama at a sweet 16 party. i want to bring back my guest now ben. you know, previously when we were talking about energy, one of the things that dawns on me that never gets talked about is what do we do in the interim? because there will be a fight
8:08 am
about this. we are not all going quietly into the night at the same time. >> one of the things we need to keep in mind about this, harris, when we talk to people who really do have the concerns that polls show so many on the left do about the nature of the world. you think back to the people who have been saying doomsday predictions that we're always a decade out or something like that over the years. i would encourage them that things are getting better and an enormous number of positive developments we can look at. top down mandates of this type of thing just don't work when it comes to managing human behavior, particularly in the united states of america. you can't have these types of government mandates, force people to make decisions that they don't want to make. i think overall what we are going to see in the years to come is there will be a great coming to grips, i think, on the left that it's not something that will work for them. they have to try to win the argument based on market forces
8:09 am
as opposed to just using the kind of rule that they have, frankly, in much more authoritarian places around the world. >> harris: show us the science and that you have exhausted every cause of everything else. show us that there are no other options here. you have to imagine that our enemies are going there. >> yeah. i just don't take anybody seriously who tries to talk about this issue who remains opposed to the use of nuclear power. it is something that flies in the face of everything we know about that. as authors like shellenberger and other experts will tell you. we need to push for sooner rather than later and something that's in the interests of our own independence as an energy-producing nation. >> harris: the president is refusing to weigh in on information about the biden family foreign cash grab. we're up to nine members now because there is new info.
8:10 am
house oversight chair james comer says his review of the treasury department's documents sewed six additional biden family members benefiting from hunter biden's business deals. the president has long denied any knowledge of hunter biden's business deals. yesterday this. >> president biden, is it true that nine members of your family got paid by china? did nine members of your family get millions from china? do you respond say how nine of your family members received money? >> dana: -- >> harris: it's the runaway. >> at this point i don't know what you can possibly think about the way the world works that you would not know that these funds coming from hunter, coming through hunter and from potentially a chinese-related company. we all know there are no such
8:11 am
things as private companies in china. they are all shot through with the chinese communist party and those related officials that you would not know that those funds would be going to different members of the family. how do you think they are paying their bills and staying afloat? the fact that joe biden would stress so much he talks about being such a family man. we understand that about him. how would he be in the dark about all of this going on all around him, all these other members of his family benefiting from financial scenarios? we need to get to the bottom of this. if joe biden believed what he has been saying to the american people all along, there is nothing here, this is somehow siloed off in a ridiculous manner from any kind of decisions or steps that he took when he was in office as vice president or throughout his career, then come forward and prove it to us. answer the questions. don't keep dodging and don't run away. >> harris: it really requires the world to believe a lot of lies. maybe they aren't lies. we just don't know what the truth is.

he ought to fire every attorney giving him this advice and all his coms teams for not prepping him for the obvious questions in coming. thank you for hanging through the breaking news. great to have you in "focus." new disturbing video now. seems like every day we get another inside look at just how bad the crime is in democrat-led cities in particular. another vicious attack. a new york city police officer the victim. democrats don't seem to think the crisis is real. remember, they just called that gop field hearing with all those victims that showed up here in new york city, they called it a sham. plus democrats want to temporarily replace one of their long-term stars because sthe is ill and aging. they want a fill-in for dianne feinstein. republicans are going to try to keep them from doing that, from going after one of their own.

stories about cops and make the issue of race in order to divide people and if aoc wants to talk about raising the salaries for teachers, that's a personal legitimate thing to discuss and debate. but in order to drag that into this conversation and try to use it to attack police officers who do an incredibly difficult job and whose jobs are made far more difficult because people like aoc want to turn it all into race to divide voters and help themselves and to raise money, it is winding up getting people killed. the idea that a police officer walking down the street who was the gun is not even safe from getting attacked violently assaulted, just underscores if a cop can get violently assaulted on the street, what happens to the average person? we saw it in your next clip of the gentleman in the elevator.
