>> john: bring in new york republican congressman mike lawler, so in a letter to bipartisan members of congress, the attorney for this irs whistleblower said the whistleblower could provide information that would "contradict sworn testimony to congress by a senior political appointee." a lot of reading between the lines here. we don't know exactly what the investigation is, presumed to be hunter biden. high level political appointee is taken to be, we don't know for sure, merrick garland. what do you say about all this? >> obviously it's deeply concerning, you know. james comer and his committee have been investigating allegations against hunter biden and the biden family with respect to money and suspicious activity reports. they have uncovered dozens of them. and so obviously there are a lot of questions that have been swirling and the fact that you have a would be whistleblower

coming forward, a senior official at the irs who is looking to come to congress and give sworn testimony that would contradict, you know, political appointees in the biden administration, is something that should be alarming to everybody and requires action. >> john: again, don't know specifically what the case is but believe the agent is connecteded to the hunter biden investigation. james comer said the biden administration may be obstructing justice. we know hunter biden engaged in deceptive business schemes and gop oversight committee will hold accountable anyone in the administration who may be covering up this criminal activity. the white house is denying all of this, the white house spokesman says we are not trying to obstruct the hunter biden investigation. can we take them at face value? >> the sad reality in america today is that politics has

consumed everything, including the department of justice, and prosecutors offices across the country and i think what needs to happen here is this. the facts and evidence must determine what charges, if any, get brought. and any time you have an agency that is looking at allegations or facts in evidence it should be free of any political interference. the fact that you have a senior irs official stepping forward and saying that a, investigation and again, we don't know exactly what it is, but a investigation is interfered with and facts in evidence that contradict sworn testimony before congress is a five alarm fire when it comes to any potential investigation and the politization of these agencies. and so that's something where i think the american people should want to get to the bottom of this. we as a house republican

this, the guy clocks her over the head with a bottle. and you have gerald nadler at the field hearing recently saying oh, crime is not a big problem in new york city, it's the safest big city in america. what do you say? >> they're getting high off the marijuana that's been legalized in new york. i mean, this is a joke. you have police officers sworn to uphold the law and protect the citizens of new york getting attacked in broad daylight with cars, with glass bottles, and my colleagues think it's one big party. you saw what happened in chicago where you had the mobs attacking people and the mayor of chicago, lori lightfoot, who unceremonyously got thrown out on her ass saying it's not a big deal. >> john: and the incoming guy saying don't demonize them. >> he may be worse than she. this is a major crisis from new york to chicago to portland.

out between president biden and house republicans. this as controversy is brewing over biden administration plan to make home buyers, wait for it, with good credit scores pay more for their mortgages to subsidize buyers with riskier credit. rich edson is live at the white house. i say it like that, i think most people find it hard to believe. >> yeah, new proposal on that front, a number of economic stories coming out, sandra. first start with the debt ceiling increase and the white house dismissing house speaker kevin mccarthy's proposal to increase the debt limit. karine jean-pierre coming out with a statement this morning saying "speaker mccarthy sided can the extreme maga wing of his conference and released a blueprint to devastate hard working american families. house republicans must avoid default, stop playing economic brinksmanship with livelihoods

and retirements. mccarthy says the president is ignoring the debt crisis by refusing to negotiate. mccarthy is trying to push the debt proposal through the house, caps discretionary spending, repeals irs funding, a series of other provisions, to raise the debt limit into next year. the federal government is estimated to breach the debt ceiling late this summer. treasury department warns of catastrophic economic consequences if the u.s. hits the debt limit. economic front, biden administration setting new rules for mortgages, meaning those with higher credit scores will pay more in mortgage fees, subsidizing those with lower credit scores. >> some are going to pay more to help someone else get a lower rate mortgage and it's a very unique move. >> a white house spokesperson says the point here is to try to help first time home buyers by charging those with good credit

have we always at every level of sports separated men and women. why don't we mesh them to one team and say may the best prevail. the reason is because males will prevail. so fairness to females is always dictated you have women's sports and you have men's sports, professional golf, amateur golf, college golf. >> sandra: track and field. >> every sport. so, why all of a sudden will we now get rid of that? why will we say men now can play in women's sports? it doesn't make sense. this separation is great for both and we ought to keep it. >> sandra: i wanted to get more into that, but have you come up with a solution in your mind for those transgenders who say ok, no, they have made the transition in some cases they have made a physical transition to be a different gender, how they should participate, they look a different way, participate in their given gender sport, how do you see

this working out? should there be a separate category? >> there are olympic standards and there are standards, women's tennis association for example uses that. if a male who is now a female, if they are testosterone is below a certain level and other biological factors they can check, then they will allow that person to play. but when you are in high school and especially when you are in college, a male has such domination over a female traditionally it does not work. one exception, sandra, should be considered here. particularly for younger ages, middle school and early high school, i have known women who can outcompete men and my old high school, number one player on the men's tennis team was a woman because she was that good at that age. but when you go the other direction, men on women's sports like the university of pennsylvania with swimming, it's not fair to the women, it's just wrng, it shouldn't be done and i'm glad this legislation is moving. >> sandra: nikki haley seems to

be owning this topic. protecting girls in sports. >> what are you doing when you are allowing biological boys to intrude in their locker rooms and sports. this is the women's issue of our time and we need to be fighting for our girls. we have to protect our daughters this, it's that important. >> sandra: if i were to speak from someone who competed at the division i level, ran track and field in college, i will say this. i fear for girls right now who have to stress about this. there is enough stress on their plate. i think about riley gaines and she was to swim in an environment where she was -- she was not able to win because she was, you know, she was swimming against a biological male. she was swimming six hours a day and could not win. and the blood, sweat and tears we put in as athletes, and to add this stress to girls in sports, collegiate athletes trying to be the best they can only to find out in some cases there is no possible way for them to win, my heart breaks for

to a chinese attack and at the same time, they want to deny us the capability to assist taiwan, and that's the concern here. china has the fastest growing nuclear force and they are a major threat to the region. >> john: speaking of taiwan, a recent report found taiwan is ill-prepared to stop china from gaining air superiority over the island should it choose to invade. taiwanese have ordered 56 new f15s, on order, have not been delivered yet. is it incumbent to get those aircraft to taiwan as soon as possible? >> yeah, and i do think that the congress is going to be looking very hard at the u.s. defense industrial base and asking more detailed questions about whether we are up to the task about giving ukraine and taiwan need. some of what taiwan needs is what ukraine needs. anti-javelin tank weapons, fighter aircraft you mentioned, coastal defense.

and potentially cost us access to future key intelligence i think is stunning. >> john: two big questions, how did this teixeira get ahold of this information, why did he have the tssia clearance and how many people in government had the clearances and does that net need to be drawn in a little bit? >> well, i think he needs the clearance to do his job and look, 21-year-old air man is old enough to die for our country, old enough to have a security clearance. he needs access, but to intelligence, but not beyond his need to notch he had no need to know any of this information in any of these documents that have been exposed on -- that he deliberately exposed on the internet. was he given the access or search it out himself and use his i.t. capability to search for documents he shouldn't have been able to access and then print off and display on the internet. i think there is still a few questions to be answered here

>> sandra: turning back to one of our top stories, a plan under president biden would give home buyers with riskier credit scores better mortgage rates and lower fees than those with good credit history. david stevens, you were tapped to hold the role in 2009, under president obama, we were going through a mortgage and banking crisis. you went on to head up the mortgage bankers association, woefully qualified to weigh in on this. what is your reaction to the president's plan? >> well, look, to be fair, it's not necessarily the president's plan but it is the director of

the federal housing finance agency, director thompson was put into that job, appointed by president biden and confirmed by the senate. but you know, this is an unprecedented move. the gse, freddie mac and fannie mae, quasi private company, in conservatorship because they fell into financial troubles in 2008, but they have always risk based priced their loans. in other words, people with better credit scores and bigger down payments get lower rates than people with really low credit scores and very low down payments. and that risk based pricing is part of the discipline of fannie mae and freddie mac since their beginning. well, for the first time ever, the director in an effort to i think bring more first time home buyers, particularly minority home buyers into the gsc's,

touching down in oklahoma, killing at least two people and causing so many widespread damage. fox weather meteorologist joins us now. a lot of people suffering hardships this spring because of the storms, amy. >> update in. we have had as many as 20 preliminary tornado reports and one of them as strong as ef-3 in cole, oklahoma, but ef-3 tornado means 165 mile an hour wind damage has been found in this area. it was a deadly outbreak and three lost their lives in oklahoma in the storms. the storm itself is right here outside of blanchard. i want to take you inside of it. this storm was very powerful, violent, twisting in it and enough to take out homes down to their foundation. that's what an ef-3 can do. the three dimension gives you an idea how tall the thunderstorm was going. it created a lot of hail damage.
