in the pacific as he reasoned with lawmakers for billions in more funding for their budget. one of his driving forces and concerns could prevent china from invading taiwan. >> we must act with a greater sense of urgency. we don't have the luxury of t time. we must act now to preserve this free and open indo pacific. >> reporter: he put it plainly there is more to do when it comes to china especially as we learn more about china's plans from recently leaked classified documents. the supersonic spy drone is not only credibly fast but it operates at high altitudes. it would help turn up with mapping and strategy planning and possibly future strikes. at the same time, u.s. treasury secretary janet yellen voiced her concerns when it comes to china. the john hopkins school of advanced international studies, she made it clear national security and defending human rights are the chief objectives even if it comes at an economic

teeth now because once china invades, there will be no possibility of resupplying. is that a fair assessment in your what a? >> you, i think. i mean, the more we set our hands with this, the more emboldened china will be. you just look back at last 18 months of how much emboldened our enemies have gotten. we left afghanistan, which -- and left the most strategic place in the globe, iraq, iran, russia and china and doing it the way we did it and leaving a vacuum, china has moved in to afghanistan. the taliban is not running afghanistan. and is there and pakistan and putin and you are seeing putin flexing. biden moved out and busy, our troops, our consulates and left a green light for putin to go into ukraine and now china is looking at taiwan saying, we see a pattern here.

hunter biden's business dealings despite allegations from an irs whistleblower who alleges the biden administration's mishandling the federal investigation. the white house correspondent kevin corke is live with more on this story that appears even other networks are now covering, kevin, good evening. >> kevin: good evening. the white house is dismissing allegations from a potential whistleblower who claims the administration has as you pointed out mishandled the federal investigation into hunter biden. night, telling fox news in a statement president biden has made clear that this matter would be handled independently by the justice department. under the leadership of u.s. attorney appointed by former president trump. free from any political interference, by the white house. by the way, they go on to add that he is -- has upheld that commitment. however, an irs criminal supervisory agent seeking whistleblower protections assist the investigation is simply

trace? >> trace: kevin corke, thank you. let's bring in the former chief nominations counsel, mike davis. it is great to see you. you heard the lawyer and kevin corke talking. this whistleblower is essentially alleging the federal investigation into hunter biden is being obstructed. what do you make of these allegations? >> if you believe that repo reporting, it sounds like the button justice department has evidence that hunter biden violated a gun law by lying on his gun application and he made -- evaded taxes and has corruptly taken foreign money and the biden justice department is covering this up and they are not allowing this u.s. attorney in delaware to have the latitude he needs to pursue these charges. so if that is true, then we have big problems for merrick garland in the justice department. >> trace: you have hunter biden's attorneys say they believe this whistleblower is breaking the law.

kind of comes full circle back to biden campaign. your thoughts? >> it sounds like biden has some political operatives, whether it is his attorney general or at his secretary of state, tony blinken who are political operatives going out of the way to protect the biden family. >> trace: yeah, lastly, mark adds, avoided going before the house judiciary committee. the second district court ruling was this. this has been appealed. there's now a stay out of the court. the judge was telling alvin bragg the question before the court at this time is whether bragg has a legal basis to quash a congressional subpoena that was issued with a valid legislative person. and eating thing he does not. so bragg is going to drag this out but it appears that he has kind of backed into a corner. >> there is no question that congress has the oversight and power. bragg is using federal funds to

warning tonight about the growth of organized retail theft. vogel is live in new york. good evening. >> reporter: crime certainly is a problem in new york city. we are talking about in general, though, the big brands like target, macy's, walmart and others all being forced to close down stores all across the country. why, you might ask? take a look at is. because of scenes just like this. smash and grab robberies where teams of organized hooligans smash windows, break in, and scooped up as much merchandise as they possibly can. just last week, walmart and chicago and rei, the sporting goods store in portland had to shut down locations there after shoplifting had reached an alarming rate. in a new report the national retail federation says unfortunately, today, it is too easy to profit off of crime. >> certainly the use of using

the internet makes it so much easier to resell them that it incentivize people to engage in organized retail crime. about 45% of the items we take our resold through online marketplaces. >> take a look at these statistics from the new study. here in the regular organized retail crime incidents are up 26.5% year over year. what are they stealing? mostly electronics and luxury goods. that is because of the high resale value. the big apple where a number of rite aids had been forced to close, a spokesperson tells us, "we are seeing a higher level of recent shoplifting and organized retail crime. are organized retail crime team has partner with local police precinct on approaches to mitigate this criminal activity and help make arrests." and then th there is this frightening warning from the study.

most of the groups committing organized retail theft are using more violent methods including using firearms and other weapons and even threats against employees and customers. and in big liberal cities as long as the theft is under $950, trace, it is considered a misdemeanor meaning the criminals could walk away, no jail time, maybe just a slap on the wrist. that is it. >> trace: anita vogel, thank you. let's bring in radio host jason rance. they see this is like a 30 billion-dollar issue for retail chains across the country. it goes on to say we assist these organized retail crime groups largely target every day consumer goods which offer a favorable balance between ease of theft, monetary value, and ease of resale based on analysis of 116 of these groups thought it would present exclusively stole general consumer goods because it is easy to steal, easy to do so, zero

consequences. very lucrative. here to, jason? >> yeah, i mean, when we tell these criminals that you can get away with this, guess what. they are going to try to get away with it and they often do and you got all these businesses getting hit with both sides because not only are you dealing with retail theft but also dealing with homeless shoplifting and they are getting away with it all the same. you have got these businesses at some point they end up having to close down. they cannot sustain this level of shoplifting particularly after suffering for about two and a half years because of the covid lockdowns. it is not just like target and walmart and costco that is getting hit. we are. we are talking about small businesses and they cannot handle everything that is sort of these liberal cities have been throwing at them. carmen and you are talked about some big business like in portland. r.e.i. shutting down. how many stores have to leave downtown portland before the hierarchy gets the message? quoting here in a letter to members are invited the

retailers say, this is rea. they would close the city's downtown store which has had its highest number of break-ins and thefts. r.e.i. spent 800 grand in additional security and said it does not believe downtown portland location will be possible in the near term. that is, for we ain't coming back. >> 100% is code for that. it is pretty blunt but they are telling us. these companies have been trying to make it work. it is not just $800,000 in new security. you have got them working very closely for the city with the police and still nothing gets done and what drives me kind of nuts is we deal with this in seattle. you have a lot of people who live here in portland who refused to acknowledge that there's an issue and you watch some of the local broadcast news, you got that man on the street will say, they should stay and sit it out. you have got a lot of money. it is insurance. it is not quite were like that and it is so frustrating to hear

the senate is dead and president biden even said if it some miraculous way made to the senate, he would veto it but it is amazing to me that you look at these polls, 84% of the population believes that it is unfair for biological males to play athletics against biological females and yet every single member, a democrat and member of the house voted against this. what are your thoughts today? >> absolutely. well, definitely shows where the party loyalty lies. right? it is not with the safety of americans specifically female athletes. they are willing to erase it 50 years of progress for female athletes. they are willing to put women in locker rooms with men-2 -- forcing them to address together and undress. it is absolutely sick and it just shows how totally blind this ideology in a house there is no sense of like you said common sense left and they are totally blinded and only doing

things that are fitting within their agenda and they are willing to sacrifice years of female progress to do it. >> trace: what i found fascinating about this is that you had some of the lawmakers clearly trying to change the narrative like adam schiff. he tweeted in part, quoting here this is just about attacking trans kids. was that your goal? is that your goal, macy, and the people who support this? they just want to attack trans people? it is one of those things that is very disingenuous. >> it is. and i have several friends who are a part of the lgbt community. hate is never where we are coming from. i am a female athlete. i'm a part of the ncaa. i see the amazing opportunities that come from sports. leadership training, sacrificing for a goal, all of these things that i want people to anyone and everyone to have the opportunity to pursue this goal and to pursue this dream and everyone can have this opportunity as long as we keep our lines clear. sports have to be separated based on sex in order for
