punishment, equity. when you get in the squishy equity area, you are taking your own personal values and using them to decide what to arbitrate, what you should do with someone who commit a crime, you feel sympathy and empathy. you feel compassion. it seems all of these nice human emotions are directed at the criminal, rather than the victim of the crime, the perpetrator gets all the compassion and the victim seems almost inept. i brought a picture from a long time ago. pre-mustache, me in the manhattan da's office 26 years ago, i was 56 years ago and cy vance, predecessor to alvin bragg, gave me the picture because my daughter took the same job i had in the manhattan da's office.
