about the time of the president's announcement. there was talk that maybe it would come as late as this fall, why now, rfk, jr. a factor, what about the hunter biden troubles is he jumping in now? >> anniversary of sorts when he announced presidential run. the president is not reactive to things like that. so i think that would be misreading that -- the room to say that he's responding to rfk's announcement. mike: okay, ahead of president biden's expected announcement, let's look at the quinnipiac poll, biden v trump, 48 to 46, that being mr. biden in the lead. biden-desantis, desantis 48, biden 46. it's early but how do you assess that collin? >> joe biden start off as candidate for reelection in a really weak position whether it's the general election or before that, the primary. you talked about rfk, jr. 14% of

biden voters are with rfk. democrats like to roll their eyes at him. nephew of former president but nor should anyone else be dismissed in a race against president biden in a primary and you get to the general election and his -- president biden's numbers, 52% of your own party saying, please, somebody else, not this guy, that's a bad place to start. >> who do democrats want to face? >> going back to desantis, i think that he's got a major issue. if you look at midterms and what happened with women voters and independent and center left, center right voters, the roe decision and that really made a difference and that's going to play a huge part and i think, you know, you saw governor desantis signing that bill and only putting out a photo at 11:00 p.m. as communications person i look at that, okay, well, there's a reason for that. i think that, you know, any candidate that we face and the president will start talking about accomplish mints and be in

a better position than he is right now. >> do you worry about abortion in 2024 because you have republicans wanting to win the base but to win the general you need some of those folks, the middle too? >> the pro-life movement has been 50 years telling people that abortion was an issue that belonged to the state leverage. it went back to the states and they have to be clear where they go next. should this be a state level? the democrats are skillful at using that issue to distract and whitewash from poor record on other issues. no doubt it will be an issue. i think the republican party needs to get it right and they can and once they do they have the entire other issues on the other side. mike: good news about the supreme court stepping in on drug related to abortion, does abortion become a front burner issue next year, kristin? >> yes, and i will say that if you looked -- there was a poll, what happened in the midterms and what happened was, the voters just -- they trusted the republicans more on jobs and the economy, that was the number one

issue but the democrats really leaned in to health care and this issue, i'm telling you, as somebody who sits in the center a lot, it's very important to me and women across the country. i think it'll be huge part of the discussion next year. >> okay, one more poll, the fox poll and it has trump 54, desantis 24, pence 6% of the 3 only mr. trump has declared candidate so far. colin, early, what's your read on that? >> it's early but there's no doubt president trump has the momentum. he always did as the former presidential standard bearer and the former president and the thin indictment of a couple of weeks ago put fuel in his campaign. i think you will see the support with governor desantis, it will marshal between governor desantis if he falters it will go to somebody else but there's a big swath that wants somebody new and wants new direction as well. it's indiff -- incumbent on the

mike: let's take a look at the week of the border courtesy of border patrol. 6 agents assaulted. 41,045 apprehensions, 11,882 approximate got away. 51,000 in cash seized. 528 pounds of marijuana, 33 pounds of deadly fentanyl. 3 pounds of meth. 8 pounds of heroin, 14 firearms, 9 sex offenders, 3 murderers, how do you assess those numbers for a week at the border? >> look, the men and women of the border patrol are american patriots. i started my career as border agent. they are overwhelmed. the numbers are very impressive. they will tell you they are catching 10% of the drugs coming across, why is that, because the crisis is so big. 70 to 80% of the eights are no longer on the line. they are in facilities processing, changing diapers, making baby formula and hospital

runs. when you take 60 to 80%% agents off the lien, that's when terrorists go across. mike: secretary mayorkas was on capitol hill this week. >> you disagree with the head border patrol agent when he said that the border is not secure? >> congressman, i have testified about that issue. mike: what do you make of that? >> he needs to be impeached h. he lies under oath. he's a cabinet official who constantly lies under oath which is a felony. he can't possibly say the border is secure. we are at 1.7 million got aways since he had been secretary. that's 1,000,700 aliens that have crossed the border. we don't know where they are and

where they are now. and considering arrested people from 70 different countries, you can assume a lot of the got-aways are known expected terrorists. they are carrying fentanyl, they are criminals. there's a reason why they didn't turn themselves to border patrol to get processed, released, flown to the city of their choice at taxpayer expense. they wanted to get away. they got an issue and this is a huge -- i've said it before and i will keep saying, this is the biggest national security failure this country has seen since 911. mike: what do you make eric adams being critical handling the border crisis? >> i'm critical of him, mayor of new york and chicago and los angeles, they are complaining about the migrant crisis. they could fix it themselves. every one of the mayors oversees a sanctuary city. the illegal aliens are going to their city anyway. they can get a job and driver's

license, new york will give them money to fight immigration case. who the hell wouldn't want to go? they ought to be working with ice because right now those sanctuary cities if you're in the country illegally and you commit a crime, serious crime and you go to rikers island, ice isn't even allowed to go to rikers island to talk to that person and deport them. mike: so we are looking at the end of title 42. sounds like the administration is determined to rip the band-aid off in early may. what's the impact on the border? >> i worry about men and women of the border patrol, 20,000 men wearing the uniform. they are overwhelmed. over 17 suicides last year. i'm not saying the border crisis caused that but whatever internal struggles they were having, historic crisis didn't help. you are going to see more children die, you will see more drugs come across and you will see more women and children trafficked. you will see a hell lot more got aways when the surge comes in title 42, 70, 80% off the line is now 90% and in some sectors
