not doing much to help out. cb cotton is life in the new york city newsroom with more on this. what more can you tell us? was arthel good afternoon. despite being considered an ally of president biden's to include sitting on a national advisory board for biden's reelection, mayor eric adams is delivering harsh criticism thing the city has been abandoned by the white house as it tries to grapple with the growing number of migrants and asylum-seekers who have arrived here. now adams criticism came during a d.c. panel on friday the near post reports the mayor's remarks came ahead of a series of closed door meetings with white house officials were adams reportedly laid out the struggle about how the daily influx of migrants has impacted the city and his budget. city hall spokesperson confirms to fox news the city spends three to $64 a day providing food and shelter for a single household of client migrants or asylum-seekers. that spending totals nearly

5 million spent in a single day. now get this an estimate of four-point to billion will have spent on costs related to migrants and asylum-seekers through fiscal year 2024 by the city. all the state according to new york city spokesperson. on friday at mayor eric adams also appeared to point a finger at other elected officials in the city even though we do know the city's public city advocate did travel to d.c. this week to ask federal officials from work right migrant funding aid. mayor eric adams had this to say, listen. >> the city is being destroyed by the migrants crisis. none of my folks came to washington d.c. to fight for the resources that's going to undermine every agency in our city. >> before that remark adams also held a press conference on wednesday urged the biden administration to act before the

end of title fu trent sag president biden could give migrants and asylum-seekers the ability to work and support themselves legally for the first six months of their state. arthel: cb cotton live in our new youth newsroom. >> more for mayor has been doing with this firsthand a lot longer than nearest the mayor adams has been. the mayor of rio grande, texas. mary sorry about that. you're a better friend this program for a long time dealing with this issue what advice would you give to your fellow mayor eric adams when it comes to trying to handle the migrant crisis? >> good afternoon thank you for having on your program. in fact i want to say this it is déjà vu. it is the 11th hour the critical juncture folks title title 42 conundrum. a benefit americans to remain.
11:07 am
otherwise it would be untenable the facts when it comes to rio grande city i am not going to spend those types of monies first because we do not have those types of resources. even then if i had the money to sustain that type of model when you supply these types of financial resources to individuals coming in is simply not tenable. keep this in mind. they must be allowed. they are allowed to stay in this country they must be allowed to work from day one. there is no free lunch or they have to be allowed to work from day one and provide this types of monies. there is no way we would be able to sustain the types of monies or financial resources we simply do not have it. my heart goes out to new york city but again these are decisions people are making it the government level as well. at this point that is something new york have to contend with. on my end i'm not going to laos
11:08 am
because i do not have those financial to sustain this type of model which again is simply not tenable. you have to have these individuals give them the opportunity to work. to save themselves and make it here in america. if they are allowed. again the different questions are altogether for the political divide should be allowed the men or knots. immigration and security and all of this nonetheless. keep this in mind congress has failed to deliver for the american people when it comes to addressing this. eric: what would you like to see congress do? >> personnel transfer immigration laws that these accounts for almost half the population in the u.s. ille illegally. we average close to a million pieces annually. look at the u.s. citizenship and immigration services in the last decade, and the last decade fuel cap visa oversees the number
11:09 am
border crossings. they add to the rate of undocking immigrants at the border crossing. we are failing to address this at its core. your look at immigration, border security, concepts are of which are not exclusive they can coexist read congress extreme left extreme right and unfortunately let's get to work, comprehensive immigration reform that addresses both. the fact is we need immigration. but they can coexist they are not mutually exclusive they can coexist. but unfortunately have not done it. president ronald reagan said it best on the most important sources of americans greatness we are unique among nations we draw our people are strength from every country in every corner of the world. but yet we must exercise caution because our global enemies might
11:10 am
extort our broken system they have to event these individuals. we got to dress it from both ends me. >> many would say it is a source of strength for this country for illegal immigration for it what you fear will happen with the expiration title 42, they expect for the thousand more migrants to try to come in. they say they're tens of thousands waiting across the border to try to come in. >> there is no doubt we will have an influx. yes our migrant processing capabilities will be compromised and therefore jeopardizing our national security. so we must have a plan now. i anticipate because congress has failed to act the onus lies on the executive. and therefore the president's going to have to manage the border through executive orders. and at this point more than likely my understanding here's more than likely we're looking at expedited removal and title 42 ends which by the way it must end but we need to keep some
11:11 am
side of expedited removal process that have these five-year bands. they cut at the end i have mentioned is not sustainable. when you look at the cost for municipalities especially if we do not give them the opportunities to bend for themselves, meaning work. granted people around the world believe in the american dream the people can rise above their circumstances in life and therefore we have to provide these avenues is opportunities for them to make it here in the u.s. that's definitely not the model to follow because it simply not tenable it is untenable that model will not work long term. >> finally new york city has received 50000 plus migrants hear their 33000 that's like a small city 33000 migrants living for free and city hotels been paid for by the next day taxpayers. do you think mayor adams by the plan of sending to northern cities do you think that has raise the national profile of
11:12 am
this problem and really put at the front door of the white house to try to do something about it? >> absolutely. the municipalities that have a higher platform by all means he's knocking on their front doors. now, this can work again these individuals are going to have them in your community to provide them the resources and opportunities defend for themselves they will. after all they are hard workers are going to come into the u.s. and are wanting to work. give them the opportunities. during the 2024 election immigration border security is going to loom high in the conversations. the unfortunate assist both parties engaging in the debate on immigration and border security but yet they failed to do anything about that. it's the same regurgitated songs and nothing gets done. at some point to go into pressure on congress to finally do something and stop talking. too much political noise not
11:13 am
enough action to sign for them to act. stiffler regurgitated not enough social, you know it firsthand rio grande city mayor joe villarreal we really appreciate being on the front lines we always appreciate you showing our viewers exactly was going on where you live. >> thank you very much again. [laughter] think it mayor. >> appreciate your time. that's a new way of saying same old song we're back to the store right now. the man accusing at a sexual girl and her parents after a basketball rolled into his yard will still be to north carolina to face charges. police say robert singletary surrendered in florida after two days on the run for talks to senior correspondent steve harrigan's live with the very latest on this, steve. professor at the north carolina man -- to date manhunt turned himself into authorities for may

irs agent came forward seeking whistleblower protection claim the probe into hunter's business dealings is being mishandled. live in the washington bureau at the very latest on this. alexandria. >> good to be with you. been told the meeting was set up at the request of hunter biden's legal team. and that was weeks ago it does not indicate charges are imminent. prosecutors are looking into two possible misdemeanor tax charges the felony tax evasion charge and a felony gun charge that are related to a garden. not related this meeting does come as an irs agent turned whistleblower is claiming the biden administration is giving preferential treatment to the president's son. >> my client wrestled with whether or not to come forward and let a sleepless nights about coming forward with this. >> details that contradicts sworn testimony to congress by a senior political appointee.

multiple reports have named that appointee as attorney general american garland who testify before congress last month that he is not in interfered with his investigation, listen. >> a promise of the matter of hunter biden in the hands of the u.s. attorney for the district of delaware. >> the whistleblower said he can disprove that for the same time secretary state entity blinken is facing accusations by house republicans to say that testimony former cia deputy director indicate blinken, who was a biden campaign advisor at the time push the creation of a letter signed by over 50 intelligence officials back in 2020. kathy hunter biden laptop story as possible russian disinformation. democrats on the house judiciary committee fired back at that writing quote mr. blinken did not direct, suggest or insinuated any way he should a letter about hunter biden's laptop. nor it a private citizen try to get at the letter indirectly. the statement sums up this accusation as a sensational

questionable from the associated press says most people do now the oldest president in u.s. history to run again. he'll be 82 the beginning of a potential second term. now, 73% of all adults do not into running and that three out of four people know calculator neither. more than half, 52% do not want biden sure in either bird although 41% of democrats will definitely be voting if he is the nominee part of the 40 say they will probably vote for him if he is the nominee. the rest, 14% democrats want 69 note robert f kennedy jr. to announce this week he will be running for president. yesterday the rose garden biden said he hopes his quote and bolt will be the magic formula. >> i'm putting on the sunglasses. [laughter] all right, eric and lucas run the presidential race for the white house hot spring in princeton university political scientists laurent right always good to talk to you. should present biden run on his record or should he run against his competitor? >> well it's probably one in the same because biden's record in 2020 was beating virtually every
11:25 am
other potential candidate that is on the bench. i think there's a couple gubernatorial candidates meeting whitmer and newsom who have not been in the mix but they have serious problems of how he dealt with co- video. so i think biden despite his problems despite the age i think is very relevant and it is a liability as a first-person democrats have if they want to keep the white house. sing a the latest wall street journal -- upon trump versus desantis months ago desantis was up with 52% approval trump was at 38%. today trump is 52% desantis at 38% how would president biden's campaigning strategy changed the gop is a 45 for the florida governor again or should it?
11:26 am
>> is number it might flip-flop a few more times as we keep going forward. but, it has been very impressive what desantis has been able to do with this name recognition, differentiating himself. as a bunch of other governors are probably going to run on the republican side. none of the criticism lately to take away what he has done to differentiate himself. but i think it's really difficult the position he is in. the six week abortion man, the fights with disney, he does not need to just get the hard-core republican right on his side. he also needs to get moderates. so what he really needs to do is shove aside those alternative candidates nikki haley's and all of these candidates that are polling at 5% or less. he needs to add up those numbers and it needs to be more than what trump is getting.
11:27 am
this dynamic will change a lot more. arthel: will watch for it is quite interesting. meanwhile, was it president biden's hard sell to democratic voters? >> is going to be the hard sell only a sitting president can pitch from the presidential seal that is the big advantage. it's incumbency, you know me you know what i am going to get paid to democratic voters it's his policy record which is the same things republicans will attack. i think when people talk about biden's age and his acuity and it is absolute truth is given fewer press conferences and interviews that his present predecessors. in fact the "new york times" had a report out showing he has talked less to reporters in any president since reagan. those things are fair. but when republicans come after him it will not only be because of his policy record.
11:28 am
it will be because of his age and they will suggest this might not even be the person you're going to stick with it. it be kamala harris. it might be one of his other people. beijing ought to shoot themselves in effect. >> do you think both parties might have a surprise candidate on deck in case either of the front runners on the republican side and up backing out of the race for unforeseen reasons? >> maybe they will. i have no idea who that would be when i'm thinking about it right now for on the democratic side again it's chaos it is a massive biden decides to run. that's a nightmare for them and we talked about a bunch.
11:29 am
on the republican side there's probably a greater chance the candidate probably cannot anticipate right now. in biden as you just mentioned in your earlier segment that he is writing for short bird i would not read too much into the endorsements right now. we just are a reflection of the same polling numbers that show trump is ahead. a lot of these early indications we cling to every piece of news about which candidate is in the most donor support. those tend to be proxies for who is polling the best. we really have to wait until these candidates get out there. many of them have not formally announced yet what their national campaign is and whether they have the chops to answer tough policy questions.
11:30 am
on both sides of the aisle there cannot too have not answered them yet. arthel: are right about that really quickly met about 20 seconds we have. once president biden officially announces -- making of the former president donald trump is going to come out with all of his attacks. where though it might be former president go wrong if he attacks the current president in a certain way? >> maybe a personal attack. the worst possible strategy trump could use his rehashing the 2020 election, it would be in the lie that it was stolen. that is not what people want to hear. but if he sticks to biden's policy failures that is a message a lot of voters are open too. if he runs to the left of desantis a little bit he might manage to get prepared the left advantage trump out is because he is a celebrity candidate.
11:31 am
he came from outside politics he is held to a different standard than a lot of his competitors. he is not expected to be ideologically consistent is not expected to behave in a certain way. that is another feather in trump's cap he might be the nominee. arthel: he asked a member the 2020 election was not stolen, get over it. >> yes exactly. stop saying that. lauren, thank you so much i look for to talking to you again. take care. stew for the reward is going up or whoever can help find the person who threw iraq the windshield windshield of a woman's moving car and it killed her. in other rockthrowing incidents were reported that night for about the very latest on this disturbing case, next. you happen to be a dog.

foundation senior fellow for china straits author of the 100 year marathon. it seems invite administration a stiff arm. what does this action what does this confrontation mean? >> well, from the buy demonstration point of view i think they are embarrassed. they thought they were extending the hand of friendship and the chinese refuse to talk to them. you know in the pentagon they asked for military pin channels to pre-reopen and have talks with german millie and his secretary of defense. china refuses to do that. china has really started a worldwide campaign recently to mock america it's in the front page of the "new york times" story yesterday, eric. she's thinking as mocking the invite administration. i think that is a correct interpretation. they have had a number of articles and. neil: recently.

american foreign policy towards china. it got larger juries in the house and senate both supporting various kinds of actions. what is happening now is the republican party and conservatives in particular, the democratic party as well are really quite hostile to china. they see this kind of speech by janet yellen as wishful thi thinking. failure to understand china's true intentions toward us. what we are starting to see happening is this will be an election issue for the presidential primaries, for the republican primary the republican candidates have been outdoing themselves attacking china. i do not know the by demonstration is going to do but they clearly got the approach i that dubs inside you have a lot of influence on president biden. this could be an election issue though it wasn't 2061 president trump exploited the china fear and stealing jobs from us and through 4 million jobs.

when they looked soft. when the public has these responses like 70 -- 80% are concerned about the china th threat. super quickly, michael, finally what should the bite administration do to try and push back correctly and get that message of toughness if they have that to president xi? >> they've got to have some means of coming to an agreement within their own ranks. there been a number of leaks that indicate this quite a debate going on around president biden in the chinese know this very well they are masters at manipulating american politics. so unless they get their act together and speak with one voice on china the real beneficiary of all this is she thinking himself is going to be picking up our allies one by one and building a coalition against us that we never anticipated the world to be turned against america by the chinese of all people but i think that's what's happening. eric: michael pillsbury the heritage foundation on the growing china threats.
