>> steve: that 6-month-old baby boy killed in a horrific crash in chicago. two teenagers were accused of stealing the car that caused the wreck. they are now facing not felony charges but they have been downgraded to misdemeanor charges. >> deadly crash caught on camera. you can see it here. as the family demands justice following the senseless tragedy. >> brian: todd piro joins us with more. todd? >> just horrible the two boys age 14 and 17 each face a single misdemeanor count of criminal trespassing over this deadly incident. police say the teen stole the black hyundai, seen right here tearing through an intersection, colliding with the pickup truck. inside that truck inside 6-month-old old and his family. the crash left christian with a fractured skull which caused his brain to swell. eventually killing him. his mom and two older sisters also in that truck are expected to make a full recovery. grieving family members now speaking out on the unthinkable tragedy saying, quote: they

stole a car, and they stole our entire lives in that one instant. i don't know what the price of a the car was, but i'm sure it wasn't equivalent to the life of a child police say two others were riding in the car that killed christian. it's unclear if they will face any charges at all. this strategy the latest demonstration of chaos in the city. at least 53 people were shot the past two weekends, including a 3-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl. as for the deadly car crash. authorities say it is possible the current misdemeanor charges could be upgraded pending a further investigation. you have to ask yourself, steve, ainsley and brian, what are we doing to our little children? it's horrible. >> steve: no kidding. todd, thank you very much. you look at something like this, and, at the very minimum, it should be manslaughter. and in the state of illinois, manslaughter is punishable by five years in prison and a $25,000 fine. but, obviously, and we have been

detailing this for a long time, chicago is one of those places where there is just a soft on crime attitude and particularly with teenagers. so, instead, it's a misdemeanor for criminal trespassing. what about stolen car? what about killing somebody? all that is missing. >> ainsley: the teenagers were 14 and 17. the two boys who allegedly stole the car and then caused this accident. is it because they are so young, they are juveniles that it was misdemeanor? >> steve: have to talk to the d.a. >> brian: that's just of the whole attitude being soft on crime. only going to get worse especially over in chicago where this mayor has already shown before he even took power how he feels about it and lori lightfoot talking tough on crime on this panel on friday now that she is virtually out of power. one person injecting logic into his show, i believe when it debuts on friday night, is bill maher. is he looking at the same stats that all of us look at and say, wait, why are we not talking

up gold out there in california. can you explain why? >> well, the spots have been hit up for years have actually, you know, brought more material down. it's rolled, it's crushed everything, the fires, it's just a really great year to get gold again. >> steve: essentially gold is in boulders and all sorts of stuff because of erosion and things moving and fires and big floods. suddenly new spots people are finding gold. albert, tell us about your experience because recently you went out, spent about 10 minutes and what did you find? >> well, i found some nice little pickers. you find pickers in the creek. >> steve: hold that up again. hold it up again. that is -- that's solid gold, right? >> that's solid gold right out of the bottom of the creek. >> steve: okay. weave know what happened in the 1800s when people all across the country heard there's gold

in them dar hills. people ran out to california. your hardware store sells all the stuff to do that prospecting. >> i do. >> steve: tell us a little bit about how your business has picked up because people are looking to pick up some gold pieces. >> well, my gold store used to take in the gold. now we sell the merchandise also. we sell metal detectors, boxes, pans. a lot of families coming in getting the young kids involved in finding gold. it's pretty fun exciting this year. >> steve: the thing is, since you are telling them the stuff at the hardware store. you are probably hearing a lot of stories about people and what they're finding, right? >> absolutely. i mean, there is some really great stories out there this year. a lot of good jewelry being made, too. you know, out of these pieces of gold. it's sentimental to everybody. it's just great taupe us one
