be coming true. as the 80-year-old biden is expected to launch his candidacy with a video announcement and that is expected to happen tomorrow. >> john: a new poll from nbc news shows 70% of americans, including a majority of democrats, do not want biden to run for a second term, saying the president's age is a major reason why. so, can he do anything to calm those fears? our political panel, juan williams and david avello, and ronna mcdaniel are here to discuss the race for the white house, coming up. >> sandra: a fox news alert, we are waiting national security adviser jake sullivan to take the podium at the white house after the biden administration was forced to evacuate another u.s. embassy in a war torn country. hello and welcome, everyone, as we begin a brand-new week,

drones over the route from khartoum to port sudan to protect convoys. dozens of u.s. citizens have joined the convoy, and setting up an international naval task force off the port sudan to help assist foreigners and americans trying to leave. also been helping with the international flights, the other nations that are flying in and collecting their embassy personnel. the planning for saturday's rescue took place here at the pentagon in the chairman of the joint chief's office in conjunction with joint special operations command at fort bragg. seal team 6 was asked to take the lead. >> this morning at 9:00 a.m. eastern, contingent of u.s. forces lifted off from djibouti and landed in ethiopia. chinooks refueled in ethiopia before flying three hours to khartoum. evacuation was conducted in one

movement, via rotary wing. fast and clean, service members spending less than an hour on the ground in khartoum. >> hundreds of u.s. citizens, aid workers and teachers are still stuck in khartoum. the estimated 16,000 americans who live in sudan, most are dual nationals, many have never lived in the u.s. and when reached by the state department about leaving, u.s. officials said they told them they wanted to stay. >> we do know, of course, the number of americans who have registered with us and with whom we are in very active touch, communication. of and of those i would say some dozens have expressed an interest in leaving. >> the three chinook helicopters flew in low over 800 miles in, 800 miles out, reporters were briefed just before midnight on saturday night the mission was complete.

the justice department with the latest and what else is going on, david. >> becoming more clear by the day hunter biden's attorneys are ramping up the offensive, sending out some new letters today ahead of that doj meeting which is supposed to be some time later this week, although the actual time still unknown. abbey lowell, hunter biden's well-known attorney here in washington, d.c., sent two letters, number one, requesting the treasury department inspector general should probe why a former trump official had access to what are called suspicious activity reports. lowell is also requesting an ethics investigation into gop congresswoman marjorie taylor greene and her verbal attacks on the younger biden. the meeting between david weiss and hunter biden's legal team, this week but unknown where it will happen. weiss is a trump-appointed u.s. attorney, will he charge the

biden or let him walk. all are possible. but a big decision, no doubt. congressman comer has talked at length about the whistleblower last week, irs agent came to congressional republicans via his lawyer, arguing the probe into hunter biden not being handled properly. this according to a source confirming this to fox news. we have reported that authorities have probed hunter's overseas business dealings, taxes and lying on a federal form related to a gun purchase. the whistleblower attorney told fox news the mystery is by design because that's why there are whistleblower protections ins place. when the time is right, the irs agent will come forward. fox has complained it is related to the younger biden. democrats claim they have not received significant information from the whistleblower's attorneys. and as for this meeting this week, john, multiple sources confirm it's just a meeting that has been planned for several weeks, has nothing to do with this latest irs revelation, but it's clear hunter biden's attorneys want some sort of

update. believe it or not, the u.s. department of justice has been investigating hunter biden for about half a decade now, john. >> john: and more to come on this irs angle in the near future, i'm sure. david spunt live at the justice department. thank you. >> sandra: house oversight committee chairman james comer. thank you for joining us, mr. chairman. appreciate your time. the wall street journal writes over the weekend on the lack of government credibility, and if anything has this nation's attention right now, it is this. these intelligence officials, former as well as current have a particular duty not to spread disinformation because they have access to classified information the public cannot check. these 51 officials have done more to damage the credibility of the cia and fbi than anything donald trump has said. ditto for the complicit media. what do you plan to do and what is congress going to do to investigate these incredibly serious claims that could potentially be damaging this
10:09 am
country at this hour? >> yeah, well, we take it very seriously in the house republican conference. jim jordan is leading that part of that investigation. we are very concerned 51 former intelligence officials would interfere in the election the way they did and spread disinformation and you are exactly right, what the wall street journal said is correct, they have done more to discredit our intelligence community than anything that i can remember. this is something that we need answers to. i think that mr. jordan's already invited them to come before the select committee on the weaponization of the federal government because this is another example of the federal government getting it wrong, another example of the federal government and the bureaucracy and the deep states stepping in and interfering with elections. we want to know what they base their disinformation on and whether or not they should be held accountable. an impact on a lot of people in the election and the polls have
10:10 am
shown that. >> sandra: what do you say to the american people say ok, all right, another investigation, we'll see another hearing, we'll watch another grilling, but you know, the anticipation that there will be any real accountability if these claims are indeed true. what do you tell the american who is concerned the person accountable will not be held responsible? >> well, i share their frustration. i talked to conservative voters every day on the streets in kentucky and they have had their heart broken many times on congressional investigations in the past. >> sandra: is this time different? >> i think this time will be different. you look at what jordan is doing with the weaponization of the federal government, what i'm doing with the oversight committee investigation of the biden family influence peddling. very seldom does a day go by more information or another whistleblower doesn't come forward to echo the fact that this administration has been
10:11 am
involved in a cover-up. administration involved in spreading disinformation, election interference, the biden family more and more bank records come forward to prove the fact that they were taking money from our adversaries around the world for reasons that we have not yet determined. so, this is something that's very concerning. the american people should care about public corruption, that's what i'm investigating and they should care about a weaponized department of justice and that's what jordan cares about. >> sandra: the family members that are -- that the potential family members involved in the foreign business deals. hunter, frank, james, hayley biden. do you believe the whistleblower will reveal the identity of another biden family member involved or plural, more family members involved? where is this going? >> well, g we'll soon find out where it's going, i will tell you this from what i've seen. with the massive number of llcs that were created and it appears
10:12 am
to me that the sole purpose of these llcs was to hide the source of the revenue coming to the biden family, and then to distract the irs from the fact that they should be paying taxes on this. i think that what the whistleblower might have to say is the fact that not only was the president's son involved in some tax schemes, but it appears that many other members of the family were involved as well. they were creating llcs to disguise the source or launder the source and get out of paying federal taxes. i think the irs whistleblower has a lot to say and i think what this whistleblower says and how they are treated will probably lead to more whistleblowers coming forward on other items. >> sandra: out of time, rapid fire two questions. potential charges against hunter, two misdemeanor counts, felony count for tax evasion,
10:13 am
and lying on a federal form to purchase a firearm. circle back quickly on a question on the program, you were going through all the wire transfers and one went to a biden. without a first name on the document. i asked you then can't you subpoena the bank to find out, was this edited? i mean, you and i can't make a wire transfer with one name on it. when did you find out about it? >> we are still digging into that. it's still unclear what bank it was. this was the most -- this is most shady of any transfer i've seen, and we are still looking into that. >> sandra: i thought you subpoenaed the bank now you don't know which bank. >> we subpoenaed the bank that sent the wire, i believe that was a foreign bank, so we are trying to determine exactly which biden that was. we'll get to the bottom of this. you are going to see very soon more information, we are going
10:14 am
to release a memo, a very substantive detailed memo what we found thus far. >> sandra: a public hearing soon? >> i hope so. you know, the more information comes in, i was want to think have a press conference this week but more and more information is coming in and i feel like we need to be current with what we present to the american people and it's unbelievable what's coming in. there are more llcs, more bank accounts and more bidens than we would have dreamed were involved in the influence peddling scheme. >> that is quite something. we will certainly stay with you and bring us the new information you get when you get it, and appreciate your time this afternoon. thank you. >> thanks for having me. >> sandra: john, that's something we did not know before, the bank transfer to an unknown biden, the other transfers we had names to them, but not a first name to the unknown biden. our obvious question, how do you do that? how do you make a wire transfer without two names on it? he subpoenaed the bank from which that transfer came, he
10:15 am
said, but they don't know the inbound bank. so this i guess is part of the puzzle pieces they are trying to put together. >> john: yeah, it is a little strange, the tortureous road the money took. we are just moments away from briefings from the white house and the pentagon after u.s. special forces airlifted about 100 diplomats and personnel from the embassy in sudan over the weekend. hundreds of americans remain in the country. what will happen to them. we'll talk to retired general keith kellogg. >> sandra: florida governor ron desantis travelling overseas what he says is a winning blueprint for the sunshine state. but is he about to announce he's entering the 2024 presidential race? a rnc chair, ronna mcdaniel, maybi she has answers coming up. i can be free to do the things that i love to do. i hope when i retire someday, they say,

>> i'm not a candidate, so we'll see if and when that changes. >> john: florida governor ron desantis taking his florida blueprint tour overseas. kicked off a four country trade tour in japan ahead of a possible 2024 presidential announcements. as he waits to toss his hat, more are saying they will. and president biden expected to announce his re-election campaign tomorrow. rnc chair woman ronna mcdaniel, lay of the land and where we are headed from here. good to be with you, a new a.p. poll out on president biden, a couple new ones, do democrats want biden to run again. yes, now, 47%. up from 37%, so still the majority of democrats don't want him to run but take a look at
10:21 am
this interesting finding from the same poll. do you approve of biden, yes, 78%, so it's not that they don't like him, or they don't like his policies, so what is it? apparently ronna, it's his age people are concerned about. >> well, i think it's his policies, too. most people right now, right track, wrong track, over 70 to 80% of americans feel like the economy is not doing well, that this country is on the wrong track, and now we are three years into biden. remember, we had biden in the basement who didn't talk to the american people as he was running for president, but now we have his record and though he hides from the press, the results speak for themselves. we have a broken border, we have fentanyl on the rise, crime on the rise, inflation on the rise, he's abandoned our energy independence and i think americans can give an accurate report card on president biden and it's a failing grade. >> john: listen to what jennifer said about biden and age. my problem with him running in 2024 is he's just so old.
10:22 am
i would love to see somebody younger, like transportation secretary pete buttigieg or gavin newsom handle things a little differently just because they are a younger person. biden, though, has effectively frozen the field here, you've got marianne williamson wells robert kennedy, jr., but neither one is a legitimate threat and he's expected to announce tomorrow, preclude all the younger people from getting in. so, has he got a lock on the nomination before he even announce, do you think? >> i think he has. i mean, he's got so much power of the presidency, he's also changed the primary calendar, right, moved south carolina to the first state, abandoned iowa and new hampshire, i hope new hampshire voters are paying attention and iowa voters that the democratic party walked away from you, but made the calendar that benefits him, and he's frozen out the field. i don't find him having a little competition from his own party. i'm not as worried about his age as i am about his policies and
10:23 am
his policies have been catastrophic for the american people and everybody is looking at the country saying we should be doing better. we have a president not uniting us, not bringing people together, and it's been crisis after crisis under his administration. and especially with what you just talked about with his family being compromised. look at the china connection, too. china is bringing the fentanyl into the country, china is stealing our kids' data from tiktok, sold strategic petroleum reserves to china and now a president and his family look like they have been taking lots of payments from china. very concerning b. >> john: and more to come on that front as well. talk about ron desantis, looks at the moment as though president trump, former president trump has a lock on the nomination. a new nbc news poll, still has him out in the lead substantially by 15 points, 46%, desantis 31, and pence is at 6%. desantis has yet to announce his candidacy, call for number four,

10:25 am
and different next january in 2024. so, we have a long runway, we don't have a set field, what i do know is on that debate stage in milwaukee the next president of the united states, so that i'm very excited about. >> john: see if you can't answer this question, ron desantis is in japan, meeting with the prime minister there. here is what he said earlier today. listen here. >> great regard for the japanese people, japanese culture, and really appreciate what a great ally japan has been to the united states over many, many decades and so we are excited to be here to be able to explore more relations with florida and japan. >> john: deep resume with domestic issues, a little thin on the foreign policy front. will this help to burnish the reputation? >> i think it's always good for our leaders to go overseas. i was just in israel and saudi arabia, i learned so much, i think it's always important to get the world perspective and certainly with what he's done as governor. listen, our governors, republican governors across the country are leading the nation
10:26 am
in economic recovery and jobs coming back post-pandemic. republican policies work, we saw it under president trump with the abraham accord, i'm for every republican across the board over joe biden and that's my message always is no matter how rough and tumble this primary gets, as divisive as a primary towards people are trying to secure the nomination, we have to remember what we are against in november and that's what joe biden is doing to every family across this country with his terrible policies. we can duke it out for the primary nomination but remember we are against the democrats when it comes to november. >> john: exciting election and look forward to having you on more and asking you questions you can't or don't want to answer. >> i'll always try, always try. >> john: appreciate that. thank you. >> sandra: a search underway for one or more suspects who threw rocks at car windshields killing someone in the process. do police have any leads? >> john: wow. plus, a deadly car crash in

>> there are young people all over the city of chicago that have experienced a great deal of trauma and many instances the trauma manifests in behavior that is either delinquent and in some cases violent. it's one thing to critique young people. it's another thing when you demonize them. >> sandra: chicago mayor-elect brandon johnson making excuses defending two teenagers accused of stealing a car, slamming it into a truck with a 6-month-old baby inside. the baby was killed in the
10:32 am
crash. the suspects facing only misdemeanor charges. it's difficult to talk about, difficult that is the reality on the ground in chicago and a mayor who continues, mayor-elect who continues to defend these teenagers out of control in that city. >> one of the things that seems to escape his grasp is the reality that somehow 99.999% of teenagers manage not to commit these kinds of crimes, right. so the idea this is some evidence of some broader systemic, you know, issues facing teenagers in chicago i think is undermined by the reality the vast majority of them behave themselves. >> violent crime spiking, we shared our chicago backgrounds together. we fled, you fled, this is the violent crime statistics year to date. 2023 over 20,000 of them, up 45% since last year, that year is up
10:33 am
96% from the year before. worth reading this out, up 75% year over year, what -- where does this end? is this not rock bottom? >> i don't think it's rock bottom yet but certainly on the way there. i mean, in 2020 chicago saw more homicides than it had seen since the mid 1990s, so we are getting to a point of historical highs or lows, depending on how you -- what your perspective is. in terms of how this ends, the same way the cycle usually ends, with a backlash and that's unfortunate, there are better ways to go about making criminal justice policy if we had the political will to take into account the unintended consequences of the reforms causing this. >> sandra: i'm going to go through sound that's really important as we cover the story here on "america reports," chicago business owner who joined us who said he can no longer do business, no longer have staff show up to work in the unsafe city. >> today we choose not to work

10:35 am
happening there. >> i think when we get past the idea having the conversation is going to invite overly punitive response. the criminal justice reform movement is very weary of having that conversation because in their minds that's the conversation that created the history that they don't like, the increase incarceration that has racially disparity impacts. but when the criminal justice works, benefits everyone. benefits low income minority communities the most. >> sandra: raphael, talking about a moment of honesty, here is lori lightfoot on her way out with finally a moment about crime in her city. >> as democrats, if we do not speak the truth about violent crime in our city we will be the worst for it. >> sandra: wait wait wait, why was she last month, six months ago, a year ago on that.
