to run for reelection. not to mention, in past history, look at barack obama, donald trump, when they were running, the republican and democratic base, it was about 75% and with bill clinton, half the voters and now a quarter of all voters say don't run, that is horrible sign for an incumbent. >> todd: you said you would crunch the number. next -- approve, is that a bad sign for the president? seems like that number is around where trump was. i feel like you never have a president in the 90% range, 42.6%, what do you say? >> it is horrible. d next to your name, you get about 42 or 43%, that is where

>> jim: joe biden's failures. a lot of people say it is his age. if people thought he was doing a good job, he could be 90 or 100 and they would still vote for him. a lot of democrats say he is too old. when you ask about issues like the economies, inflation, immigration, national security, his negatives are 60% on the issues, that is driving that right now. the main reason for donald trump's surge over the last couple months, he's talking issues and people look at issues they care about and say, i was doing better when donald trump was president versus joe biden. >> todd: i think this is fascinating. we haven't seen this, the fact independents are leading to that is good sign for president trump, assuming he can get past desantis and the rest of the folks going into 2024. jim, got to leave it there.

buildings in portland, especially ones vacant like this one was, this was ushgnique, one of many buildings the fire marshal deemed unsafe. as firefighters we need to know what structures we can go into safely to search to make sure everyone is safely and extinguish the fire. this building was marked as an unsafe building, which is indicator for firefighters to be on alert. this is an extreme hazard foor firefighters. >> todd: you risk your job doing your job, this exacerbates the situation. you don't know if somebody is trapped inside and you feel the responsibility to go look. neighbors in this community have been physically attacked by the squatters issue threatened with guns and had trees cut down for

individuals to build fires. why does the city of portland seem to side with the squatters, criminals, over the taxpaying citizens? >> i can't speak for elected officials in the city, they are responsible for listening to constituent, but as a firefighter my main concern is the safety of everyone in portland. i've been a firefighter for 20 years and now president of the firef firefighter association and my responsibility is to make sure firefighters are safe so they can keep everyone else safe. with elected officials, we have a crisis looming, we are looking at 24 firefighters being cut from the front lines, that is a pretty def starretting number, that is like closing two fire

stations and that decision is a month away. we're concerned about that starting new fiscal year july 1, could have reduction in the number of firefighters and haven't had an increase in 20 years, that is with population increasing and fires increasing and the need for 911. >> ashley: you said there has been more fires in recent years under bridges and because people live on the streets. you see the squatter situations. you said you will possibly lose 44 firefighters does any of that have to do with the covid vaccine mandates? >> no, that is a struggle many members had to deal with, without a doubt. >> ashley: just the budget? >> that is corrects, yeah, the budget and a question of they want to reduce the number of firefighter on the front line and that is unsafe.
