he is running for re-election at 80 years old and reigniting criticism with his age. a string of missteps is raising concerns. >> bill: at the white house it celebrated bring your child to workday. the president talked to a group of kids when one of them asked him what seemed to be a pretty simple question and the president then drew a blank. >> what was the last country you traveled to? >> president biden: the last country i traveled. what was the last one i was in? i've been to 89 -- met with 89 heads of state so far. so i'm trying to think where was the last place i was? it's hard to keep track. i was -- you are right, ireland. that's where it was. how did you know that? >> shannon: if they make the argument that he is ready to roll after the president was caught relying on cheat sheets

want, is it? >> country has been through difficult times. no one will deny that. we had covid, we had small businesses shut down because of public health measures. we have had inflation. but my argument is that president biden is bringing manufacturing back, is more focused on the working class and will have a better economic vision than the republicans to improve people's lives. there is no denying it has been a hard couple years for the american people. >> bill: you may think that. a ca doesn't -- we asked whether or not americans were satisfied. 70% said they are dissatisfied, congressman. >> as you know, elections are always a choice. the question is what is president biden's vision, what are the republicans putting? president biden is for increasing social security. president biden is for making sure manufacturing comes back to america. president biden is for protecting unions and increasing working wages. the republican plans are for

cutting spending, for tax cuts for the wealthy and i think that's what the election will come down to. >> bill: you know republicans voted to raise the debt limit this week. would you encourage to president to sit down with kevin mccarthy? time, isn't it? >> sure. here is the thing, bill. look, when families have credit card debt they pay the debt. they first pay the bill. i don't know any family that says let's not pay the credit card debt. after we pay the bill and debt then we can discuss how we reduce the deficit. >> bill: sir, you know they have committed to raising the debt limit. so you know they are committed to paying the bills. that's a false argument. >> no, they are holding it hostage like a family saying we'll only pay our credit card bill if you agree, family member x, to cut this spending. let's pay the bill. we've already incurred these expenses. this is patriotic to pay our bills. >> bill: as you know -- you know

that's where the negligent achess should begin. >> you saw the question and answer from the white house yesterday about the last country the president visited. he was in ireland a few days ago. how do you interpret the response and the back and forth you just watched there? >> i think the president should want everyone to see how he was treated in ireland. he was a rock star there. i hope people google it and see what respect he had. here is the point, bill. age will be a factor in the election. the president is open about it and he will take questions and show it to the american people. i this i the republicans will make a huge mistake if they make it about joe biden. elections aren't about the candidates but about the american people. joe biden will talk about how to help working class families and bring back manufacturing and increase wages, reduce childcare

healthcare costs. >> bill: maybe if he gets the questions first. we were showing on screen a tight shot of the question that was in his hand the other day on the south lawn of the white house rather in the rose garden during the press conference. we wanted to find out from americans whether or not he should answer more questions. here is what we found. a stunning number again. 76% of americans, when asked, he should hold more press conferences. that hasn't happened. as you move into the re-election that you have come back to several times. he is an incumbent. do you believe he should be debates with other democratic challengers? >> yes, i do. i am a person of democracy. i think he is really good. i think his staff overprotects him. put him out there in a press conference. who cares is someone makes a gaffe? everyone does in conversations. let's see the authentic president biden. he is an empathetic person and the more he is out there, the better. do the press conferences and the

wind and rain. not over yet. forecasters saying the storm is still on the move heading north. a rainy weekend in the northeast. it is already raining in washington, d.c. making shannon very happy. >> shannon: coming today in d.c. a fugitive on the run behind bars after being captured in texas. following a jail houses cape by f four convicts in mississippi. the manhunt is not over yet. two others on the loose. one dying with police in a house. >> four prisoners broke out through the roof of a detention center in mississippi on saturday night. right now there are two still on the run. police grabbed one of them, jerry reins, yesterday in texas after five days. he is alive and we expect to see him in court later this morning. not the case for dylan arrington, he was in jail for car theft and wound up dead

after a two hour gun battle with police. the house he barricaded himself in went up in flames not before leaving a trail of destruction. he shot and wounded a deputy, stole and crashed a motorcycle and when a good samaritan, mississippi pastor tried to help him he shot and killed that pastor leaving some grieving parishioners behind. >> i couldn't believe it. i just -- it just seemed like a dream or something, you know. it was bad. we are taking it hard up here. >> the manhunt now on day six continues for those other two escapees. not clear if they were traveling together or alone. shannon. >> shannon: thank you very much. >> bill: shannon, the battle over one of the hottest issues rages on in different parts of the country and in different ways. two bills severely restricting abortion access failing to pass in state legislatures in red

states, nebraska and south carolina keeping the procedure legal until 22 weeks of pregnancy. washington state governor jay inslee signing a bunch of bills strengthening laws that support abortion. >> we are here to proclaim very vocally and forcefully that we will not allow any state or any trump-appointed judge to jeopardize a woman's right of choice in the state of washington. we know unfortunately there are states across the country that are and will be attempting to put its tentacles into the state of washington. >> bill: vermont passed bills aimed at protecting access to abortion pills. shannon, we clearly know a year and a half out it will be a big deal. when nikki haley was governor in south carolina her law was 20 weeks. this said 22 from yesterday. our fox polling access to

medication abortion we asked earlier in the week legal 65%, illegal 30%. as we talk about that in nebraska and south carolina and you cover the courts, there is a case before them on what do they decide and when do they decide? >> shannon: the medicated abortions are more than half of abortions in the country. the legal fight whether one of the drugs in the protocol will remain legal and stay on the market is fought out. the supreme court court says it stays on the market while the case is looking at it in the lower courts. it could end up back before the supreme court by the end of the year and because it is such a hotly contested issue. states that are outlawing abortions that are procedures, are the pills still going to be legal in those states? all eyes on the supreme court again on another tough issue. >> bill: i would add. fascinating to see how each state is handling it and it will be a question for all the

soil. it fits in with a pattern of the chinese government trying to basically run willy-nilly disregard for the rule of law. >> shannon: christopher wray reacting to the discovery of secret chinese police stations on american soil. the purpose is to intimidate chinese dissidents living here. a dozen -- half a dozen across the country. our next guest is pressing the f.b.i. or answers. mike gallagher is chairman of the select china committee. good to see you this morning. let me start here. one of the things you brought up in the letter to the director is the fact the bureau missed these operations. what kind of questions do you have and do you think you'll get answers? >> there is really two questions we asked of the f.b.i. and they refused to provide answers or couldn't provide an answer. one is did they know about these illegal chinese police stations

on american soil before a nonprofit entity called safeguard defenders released a public report identifying over 100 of these police stations around the world? and the second is after we have discovered this one in the heart of manhattan are there other illegal police stations on american soil and what is the f.b.i. doing about that? we had a briefing with the select committee on china. they couldn't answer the questions. we were very disappointed. i'm glad we have arrested two agents in connection with the manhattan illegal police station but we need to do more. we need to know how the f.b.i. is combating this phenomenon of trans national oppression and affront to american sovereignty. >> bill: how did we find out about it? >> through the work of safeguard defenders and went to the site of the police station and held a rally. the first event we did in a

bipartisan fashion on the select committee on china. i was shocked to find out how extensive this is. not just in america. there has been multiple incidents in the u.k. across europe and something happening on american campuses where chinese students, taiwanese students find themselves surveilled, harassed and some cases physically assaulted by members of inoctoberous sounding nonprofits like the nonprofit chinese student scholarship association. we need to force the f.b.i. to take it more seriously, to act more aggressively. we need to push back on this affront to american sovereignty. we can't allow america to be a hunting ground for dictators, but a haven from persecution. >> shannon: you've given the bureau of deadline of may ten to get you answers. what happens if you don't get them? you've been pressing. >> we're more than happy to call the f.b.i. director to testify if that's what it takes. i'm hoping we can have a closed

door classified briefing before that. but again my constituents are outraged by this. i think my members on the committee, their constituents want answers. it shouldn't be allowed to happy. it's crazy something like this is happening on american soil. >> bill: other thing that came out of the briefing. the next sound bite america has to step on the gas. here he is talking about the chinese cyber threat. listen to what he says on the numbers here. >> the scale of the chinese cyber threat is unparalleled. to give you a sense what we're up against. if each one of the f.b.i.'s cyber agents and intel analysts focused exclusively on the china threat, on nothing but china. chinese hackers would still outnumber f.b.i. cyber personnel by at least 50 to 1. >> bill: what that answers says is that we can't catch up. what did you think of that? >> well, i think we need to

leverage our unique strengths. i agree on the scope of the threat and glad he talked about it in clear and direct language. that was the major finding on the commission that china is our bigger threat in cyberspace. in the meaningful sense the invasion of taiwan has already begun in cyberspace and the attacks on their critical infrastructure are enormous. the threat to our critical infrastructure is enormous. where we can outperform them is leveraging public/private partnership. the strength of our system we don't have a government that controls everything. by harnessing the creativity and talent in the private sector and getting them to work with the government, that's how we can beat the chinese in cyberspace. >> bill: more to come on this. >> shannon: this is far from over. we would love to hear back if you get answers. >> bill: from idaho the parents of that murdered idaho student

ethan chapin are speaking out. he was killed with his girlfriend and two roommates in an off campus home in idaho. the suspect is due back in court the last week of june. what they had to say. tough, tough topic for them. christina coleman, good morning. >> absolutely. very tough. his parents say they won't be in court for the june hearing as they cope with the tragic loss of their son. he was a triplet remembered as a loving brother, son and friend. his mother said the murders rocked their family to its core. to help cope with the pain they started ethan's smilie foundation, a scholarship fund in his honor and a tulip garden named if his honor in mount vernon, washington where they grew up. the very last time they saw ethan was at a parents weekend

at the university of idaho seven days before ethan and the three other college students were killed last november. ethan's mom says getting through the upcoming mother's day will be very tough as she continues to mourn the tragic loss of her son. >> one day i was out walking by myself. i was crying so hard. i just -- it is just whatever and i happened upon somebody and i thought they were going to call 911 on me. i was like it's okay. just having a moment. >> the defense attorneys for the accused killer are now set the interview bethany funk. the defense attorneys wanted her to attend the june preliminary hearing. instead she has agreed to meet with the lawyers in reno, nevada

distinct lack of women defending women in the public square on issues like this. that isn't the case in every other country. for instance, in my own country, britain, there have been very prominent women not just in sports but across the political and social platforms who have objected to precisely this. so when someone like britteny griner says i will fight for men to play in women's sports its a blow against lots of young female athletes. >> bill: she said she thinks it's a crime. >> all i can think is she is overstating it for some other sort of purpose. tread back even a few years. wouldn't it be ridiculous if you said it is basically a crime for a biological male with huge shoulders, for instance, to compete against women and be allowed to beat them in the swimming pool or boxing ring? it is absurd.

it's an overstatement that's only coming about because there has been so much push an idea that biological men and women are interchangeable. >> bill: there is a clip of a volleyball game where a transgender male playing with women spikes the ball and it hits this woman in the face and she just goes down. maybe you need one of these moments in a boxing ring or some sort of physical contact and you see that. >> we've already had that. one of the things that joe rogan that made him wake up he is an mma fighter. when joe saw biological males transitioning to female beating the hell out of biological females in the ring, he started to think what are we doing here?
