your communities and republicans in congress have done nothing about this issue they seem to care about it's all rhetoric that is what you will hear. >> immigrations on the weakest issues for the democrats the white house can talk about what they are doing that once teleported to goes away, if you see a surge of illegal migrants crossing the border it's going to be a big waits on the political fortunes of the democratic party. shannon: all sides and at that is coming and maybe panel think of going to see next sunday put up nexus on washington's biggest mysteries who leaked to the supreme court draft ruling on abortion a year ago. now one of the justices said he's got a good idea who it was for will discuss with the panel's insiders who know the court very well, next.

shannon: at just one year ago an unknown person kicked off a firestorm by leaking a draft of a supreme court ruling on abortion. the ruling, published by politico suggested a legal earthquake was coming. as he justices are poised to overturn roby weight justice wakes up in court justice samuel alito told the wall street journal his theories about who leaked the draft and why. my panel of legal insiders including multiple former supreme court clerks joins me live it. but first a look at what happened once that draft in public. pro-choice and pro-life groups and flooded the streets in front of the supreme court as soon as the high-stakes draft ruling elite too. demonstrations did not stop there. as abortion rights group protested outside the republican appointed justices homes.

justice. apparently we will never know who leaked this draft opinion the dobbs case because of the standard as justice alito said is very high. it's very clear with the intention of this person was it was to influence the outcome of dobbs free to change that decision. the effect was predictable posada mensa public pressure on the justices including protests outside of their home, threats on their lives. and one man appearing at justice kavanaugh's doorstep with the intent to kill. this ultimately diminishes our confidence for all of americans. it really affects all of us because this person had a vigilante impulse what they could not accomplish within the lot they thought they would try to encompass outside of it. shannon: he talks about frustration and finger-pointing of conservative justices or someone supporting the decision saying essentially they became targets of assassination. >> absolutely print that's why this is clear it was not someone from the right he would do this

we understood how important it was. shannon: elizabeth do you think we will ever know question requires your thought about the impact of people being able to trust the court of what goes on there? absolutely. i think the leak has had a really enormous impact on the court itself, on the inter- workings of the court. i think that we have seen as justice thomas said in your intro, this trust inside the court. i think if we look outside the court the leak itself was not really what has caused these changes and poll numbers and having faith in the supreme court. it's really about what was in the draft opinion that was leaked. i think if you are ken's working hard try to put food on the table, take care of their kids they are probably not following the leak a story super closely. are pretty much everyone knows roe versus wade was overturned. >> with specific reference to justice thomas concurrence in dobbs.
