about vice president kamala harris on the 2024 ticket. more big name democrats are coming to her defense. here is senator chris coons. >> the vice president, like many vice presidents, has struggled to get positive press coverage and get the credit she deserves for the hard work she has been doing. our president has great confidence in her and so do i. >> harris: she has a lot of jobs. let's slow scroll it while ari tells us how she is doing. >> if they have confidence in her that's about two of the only people in the country who do. i'll make a prediction. this worm will turn because it must. the press is going to start writing stories how she is being under valued, how she is doing a fine job. they will start to rally because it's a democratic ticket. that's how the press will cover them and become the beneficiary of that even though everybody in

the country who watches from an objective point of view recognizes she is in way over her head. >> harris: forgive me for interjecting, based on what would they make those claims or what you are saying and what i hear you saying they don't need to base it on fact. they'll say it anyway. >> we're heading into an election year and rally time. what's so unfortunate about the way the press covers joe biden and the question from the reporter ahead of time and how he takes the press for granted and scott jennings point about laughing at you not with you is very valid. the paraphrase some of what donald trump said. if joe biden walked out of the white house onto pennsylvania avenue and shot someone, i think the white house press corps probably wouldn't cover it. if they did they would say aaron bur shot joe biden when he was vice president. they make excused for joe biden and laugh with him when they should be the ones raising the pressure saying how can you hide from us?

why don't you take questions on a regular basis? who else's card was behind the "l. a. times" reporters card when the white house had the list of questions? we haven't heard that answer. don't think it was just one reporter. they had other reporter's cards under there, i'm certain of it. >> harris: what would it mean to you? >> the white house is getting reporters to cooperate in giving them what questions or directions they'll ask the question and it is unethical. no reporter would have gone along and done that when i was press secretary, none. my job was to guess what questions the press corps at large would ask. i would never say to the president this reporter will ask you that, that reporter will ask you this. i didn't know their specifics. i think you will get the following five questions during your news conference but i couldn't guess from whom. no reporter would possibly cooperate if i tried to ask that. >> harris: it's the com team's job getting the president ready.

i'm surprised reporters give any questions. it's a game much gotcha with them. >> reporters shouldn't play ball with the white house. these reporters seem to like playing ball with the white house. >> harris: no one in authority. that's the whole purpose of being there to ask the questions. a recent poll shows president biden's approval with young voters ages 18-29 has slid off a cliff to 36%, down six points from last year and then it was even more than that if you look at 2021. 59% to 36 now. those young voters aren't feeling too good on the inside, either. we know that since the pandemic. nearly half are saying they're nervous, anxious or on edge in life. more disturbing, 24% say they think they would be better off dead. most young voters identify as democrats and politically moderate. when i read the study it breaks my heart. >> this softness in support is

not ideological. they're mostly democrats and would be for joe biden. it's personal because they know what it means to be 80. they know what their grand parents are like and recognize he is too old and out of touch. that's his personal problem. >> harris: i pray for all of those, too. i know you do as well struggling right now mightily. they need someone who they can believe in. somebody they have confidence in for the country. thank you.
