troops to the border primarily to do paperwork and only for 90 days. this does nothing to stop illegal immigration. i deployed up to 10,000 national guard at the border to fill the gaps created by biden's reckless open border policies. now the arrest brings an end to that intensive manhunt and involves hundreds of law enforcement officers going door to door looking for the suspect. $80$80,000 reward. five counts of murder with a $5 million bond, guys. >> steve: he was found in that closet under laundry in a town called cut and shoot, texas. lucas, thank you very much. let's wring in ron vitiello, retired border chief and ice director. >> good to be on. >> steve: cancellation to the family five people are dead. >> i agree with you. our heart goes out to that family and their relatives. i am proud of vortex

deceased. >> brian: all right. so thive been deported. they were looking for him as early as 2016. couldn't find him. looks like ice without the support kind of gave up. let's talk about what is happening. this administration, i guess, is admitting the border is busted. it is open. it is not secure. yesterday came across, i guess about 10:00 a.m. that the president was going to be activating 1500 troops and sending him to the border. not going to do much. going to be support. it also says they have a 5-point agreement the white house plan with mexico. they are going to commit do enhance efforts in central america to address the root causes. the u.s. tends to welcome as many as 100,000 individuals honduras, guatemala, el salvador and continue to welcome from cuba, haiti and venezuela isn't that great across the 2,000-mile border. they have enhanced partnership with mexico. nothing about enhancing mexico's southern border. under the trump administration we got them to put 20,000 of
3:05 am
mexican marines there. are you happy with this collaboration and these decisions? >> no. it's frustrating. as you pointed out, brian. we had an agreement with mexico for the migrant protection protocols in which they would take back everyone who claimed asylum, who wanted an immigration hearing in the united states. all they had to do was wait in mexico. that led to 45 year low in illegal immigration across the entire southwest border. mexico under strong leadership out of the white house, deployed 25,000 national guard members. >> brian: it was a fear of tariffs. >> absolutely. closing the border. tariffs 5%, 25%. leadership in the white house that said this is a problem. we know it's a problem because lori lightfoot talked about it being a problem this week. mayor adams talked about it being a problem this he can would. it's a problem across the united states. and this white house refuses to do anything that makes it look
3:06 am
like they are trying. 5 point agreement with mexico that says they will take back 30,000 people a week? >> brian: that's a joke. >> couple days worth of activity on the southern border. that will be nothing. the 1500 guard troops is a drop in the bucket for what's needed down there. i know my former colleagues are preparing for may 11th. the surge is already here. they're already overwhelmed. i'm not hopeful what it will look like may 12th. >> steve: ron, the administration is in a pickle because everybody is covering of the end of title 42. so they have got to look like they are doing something. so they, you know, big announcement hey, we got a new five point plan. that's not going to change anything. here's the thing. if the administration is sending 1500 active duty troops to the border, i thought they said the border was secure. why do they need those guys? >> you are exactly right. you know, our hearts go out of to the men and women on the frontline at dmpleght hs. because they have been dealing with this problem for over two years now.
3:07 am
again, they ripped down policies that were working and have yet to do anything that mitigates this problem and shows a level of control at the southwest border. they had tools in place when they took over. they just took them all away. >> steve: man o man. ron, thank you for joining us live. >> thank you. >> ainsley: karine jean-pierre the white house spokesperson said that i will legal immigration is down 90%. >> steve: said that on monday. >> ainsley: peter doocy asked her about it yesterday, listen. >> you said yesterday that when it comes to illegal migration, you've seen it come down by than 90%. where did that number come from -- >> -- i was speaking. >> you keep telling us the number was 136,000 people more. >> i'm about to answer you it. >> so far. >> if the dramatics could come down a little bit. if the dramatics could come down a little bit. >> what's dramatic about asking a question about -- >> -- okay. i'm going to answer. i was speaking to the parolee

3:09 am
>> and now we didn't get the april numbers yet. that mini program that allowed people to apply in their country and if they passed we would comply them in rather than have them walk in and give all the human traffickers all that money. the program was not even a temporary fix. addressing nations dominated by communist horrible governments that for some reason we are giving preferential treatment to. it's not our fault your government sucks. we can't take in everybody's people. even though you have the biggest heart in the world. we won't have a country to support. these numbers are stunning. 75,000 people have come in the last 10 days and title 42 is still there then i'm finding out that we thought title 42 bass giving border patrol the ability and immigration the power to turn people around when they got to the power. do you know they have that power but only 30% are being turned around? we are still letting in 70%. and does anyone care about the 84,000 unaccompanied minors that we have lost in our country? nobody ever brings that up.
3:10 am
>> steve: that is embarrassing. so, this morning, on this wednesday morning, texas is the, you know, the circle -- you know, the epicenter of all the big news. it's where that four-day migrant manhunt ended. it's also the object of all this title 42 conversation. and texas, today, is where we find our buddy will cain. >> ainsley: yeah. will is live from the ol' south pancake house in fort worth, texas. hey, will. >> will: good morning, ainsley, brian, steve. welcome in to the old south pancake house where the morning is getting started with a little chicken and waffles and texas chowdown which i'm going to show you steve. i know you love to know what's on the menu in a moment. i don't know if it's out of solidarity for me but there is a heartening number of longhorn shirts here this morning. even though i'm in the backyard of the t.c. horn frogs. pressure is on. a big longhorn turnout. that's not what we're going to be talking about.
