casey stegall joins us from texas. it sounds like the suspect's wife is in jail as well. >> yes. it's possible. we know more people are behind bars as well as you heard the sheriff saying that was a little bit of a surprise to us. although there was some indication last night that if they find out people were aiding and abetting, hiding this criminal as this manhunt was underway that those people could face charges so that's possible as well so we just got that update from officials over in liberty county. they just wrapped that up. all of the a agencies involved also taking a little bit of a victory lap. now that the manhunt is officially over. and with little fanfare, i might add. the 38-year-old alleged gunman didn't put up a fight. francisco oropesa found hiding under a closet in a pile of clothes not far from the crime scene itself. the suspect will appear before a court later today by video conference from jail.

this all came to an end after a tip was called in and then a little more than one hour later, officials say a very dangerous man was off the streets, taken out by specialized border patrol tactical teams and what's more, as we have said, more people are now behind bars with this. >> several arrests. is it 2? 3? 4? >> i'm not going to go into that right now because others are hinging on what's going on right now. so it's in progress. >> have the other people that have been arrested, have they been booked into the jail already as well? >> some have. >> we hope to flush more information out today. governor abbott taking this chance to criticize biden's border policy. now we know that the suspect was in the country illegally. five people, remember, died after eyewitnesses say the suspect fired an assault-style weapon on a group of church members holding a weekend retreat. among the victims, 9-year-old

we broke in during the 8:00 p.m. hour. they said it was the bortac agents. that's two incidents in the last year. y'all may remember during the uvalde case when we were covering that when all those cops were just standing by, they were waiting for the bortac agents to come in to go after that suspect that they ended up neutralizing so these guys crashed in got the somebody, interesting enough, last night you saw one person arrested there and it was this allegation that maybe it was a family member member they were working with the law enforcement. many times they will bring the family in even if they were cooperating with investigators because they don't want to let them know. that he was why they are saying they don't want to compromise their investigation. >> steve: the chief deputy did say that that house that was apprehended in, there is a connection to him. we don't know what that is because the assistant chief was being very cagey, but he was

talking -- he was asked about response time. it took them 14 minutes to wind up at that location. but, as we were detailing a moment ago, in a big county, with few officers, something has got to give, and that is what tim kean was talking about. >> this is not a rich county, all right? we have got three deputies on patrol to cover this entire county. if you are going from north county to trails end, which is where this occurred at? that's an hour drive that's with lights and sirens, all right? we have got poor roads. we are under staffed and welcome to rural law enforcement. this is the way most of this nation is right now. >> steve: lawrence, where i grew up in kansas, same situation. if a town might have local police. but in the county you have your county sheriffs. in this case, there just aren't many sheriff officers.

there is a certain amount you can do to keep some jobs here. this is the different question, this is white-collar workers of america. it is a very interesting warning. i'm not sure the extent to which we can alter this or change the direction of this. think about being a translator. used to take years of training to be multi lingual and be able to do a simultaneous translator, took years of training. now it is a button. copy and paste with google translate and apps that will do it like that, so those jobs disappear. one job likely to disappear is social media manager, maybe we won't miss social media managers as we will translator. a lot of jobs that used to require certain degree of training or considerable amount
