we are back with a live look at london, where people are lining the streets, surrounding buckingham palace preparing for the coronation of king charles. >> todd: i played the air coronet. i did. alex hogan joins us live, good morning, alex. >> good morning, todd and alex, it is exciting in london. people are lining the streets and camping out. we met people who have been camping out for three days to get the best view of buckingham palace. these are spectators and thousands of workers have been working tirelessly to make sure everything goes according to plan come tomorrow. take a look at this video, rehearsals that we've seen to make sure everything goes according to plan. we're looking at a massive event taking place through the city of london of this magnitude, historical event, they are doing military rehearsal to make sure

even little things like the roads are not too slippery for people walking with the horses and carriages and women from the uk armed forces will participate in this coronation. the service will be conducted by the archbishop of canterbury. this route will leave from buckingham palace and go to westminister abbey, much shorter than when queen elizabeth w cornated. this was when queen eshg liz beth was becoming queen. it is passing through london's historical and major landmarks, all part of major effort to modernize the monarchy by having a slightly scaled back event,

alex. we can see what is going on behind you. on the other side of the camera, are people mingling around, what is the vibe there? >> yeah, a lot of excitement, there is already thousands of people lining the streets and waiting 24 hours in advance to see the parade root festivities and setup. we see troops and soldiers on horses, marching and surveying the area and you have to imagine the large-scale security operation that is underway. a lot of police officers, dogs are here sniffing to make sure the area is secure. there will be so many moving pieces, this of course, impacts transportation across the city. there will be road closures and traffic, many tourists from around the world. we met a group of americans who were here and said they arrived for the week, this is something they could not miss. it's been 70 years since the

becoming queen? >> not good, only 20% of the population accepts calling camilla queen. go back to diana's death, after she died, she was one of the most hated women on the planet, she was worried about her securities, everyone blamed camilla. diana's ghost looms over this proceeding. one of the biggest jobs the king has is to sell the people on camilla. i knew from the beginning, when he married her, he had to promise the british people she would be known not as queen, but princess consort. the queen said, you can marry camilla, if she is not known as queen.

must be certified in pursuit intervention. it turns out that is a tall order. the seattle police officer guild say 35 people have that specific training. john knowles joins me now. you said the change is better than what you had, but still not great. explain to us what the changes are and what you still think needs to be done? >> well, back in 2020, the state legislature prevented police from engaging in any pursuit unless there was probably cause a violent crime had occurred. anyone familiar with probable cause and reasonable suspicion, when an officer is trying to decide to pursue somebody at front end of a crime, that is a

standard that is near impossible to meet because the public safety outcry from the citizens and law enforcement, the legislature was forced to reconsider that standard and only moved the needle a slight bit by allowing us to pursue vehicles when we have reasonable suspension that a violent crime has occurred, that or dui, and domestic violence crimes. we were forced to take something that was better than nothing. it doesn't go far enough. >> ashley: it is still not great, i totally understand. you don't need as much probable cause, but when legislation was taking this into consideration, did they take the police and law enforcement advice what to do or take it on themselves, people who are not dealing with it

every single day, or did it fall on deaf ears? >> it largely fell on deaf ears. we had several law enforcement groups try to work with the legislature back in 2020 when this first slew of anti-police legislation was passed. they would say that they would work with groups like fraternal order of police, which is not a large group here in the state of washington and largely ignoring the washington association of sheriff and police chiefs, the resulting legislation was poorly written as you eluded to. seattle police department pointed out requiring certification that in washington don't exist and have not existed. it is training we put our people through and it is not necessarily a certification, the language is poorly written.

simpkins. how bad has it gotten at this school? >> it is a progression. this particular student involved in the altercation, this transgender student had been involved in multiple previous altercations with females and it had been brought to the school's attention and brought to the school board's attention at a prior school board meeting in early april. it seems very little was done to protect these girls. >> todd: we reached out to the school for comment, received this, staff have been working to ensure safety and rights of all students, considered promptly and responded to. the student involved will no longer be attending king high school. why was it allowed to escalate to violence in the first place? >> i think that is the big question, right?

many parents expressed concern during the first incident we see on the video and nothing was really done. it seems like it took this video to get a lot more traction. millions of views online and then some local media coverage before the school district acted to remove the student. >> todd: parents always worry about their kids, that is the job of being a parent. but how much more do you worry about your daughter going to school right now than your parents worried about you a few years ago? >> well, yeah. i mean, our kids today are dealing with complicated issues that we were not forced to deal with as children. my daughter attends this school and likely has to compete against a male to make a sports team, has to contend with
