>> video from our southern border with five days left until the trump era border policy, title 42, is scheduled to expire. border officials are already dealing with an overwhelming number of migrants crossing into the united states, processing families and single adults from across the world. welcome to fox news live. i'm rich edson. aishah: i'm aishah hasnie. good to see you all. the department of homeland security is warning there could be up to 14,000 migrant
9:01 am
encounters following the end of title 42. and our correspondent griff jenkins is live along the border in brownsville, texas tra tracking movements on the ground on our end and on the mexico side, griff. griff: aishah and rich, it's hard to track, the numbers are so large, we can show you here where we are, camp monument. this is the tip of the spear, aishah, because right here behind me at this temporary processing site they have processed more than 30,000 migrants since the middle of april, 2,000 every day since i've been here. you're looking along the levee behind me, the migrants lining up all day long. majority, by the way, 90% are from venezuela. they don't just come during the day. we shot exclusive footage with our thermal imaging night drone. we can show you this as well. you can see at nighttime they come. the u.s. side is on the bottom of your screen. matamoros, mexico on the top and they're bracing --
9:02 am
remember, title 42 is still in effect right now, but they're bracing for what comes after in an exclusive interview with the border chief and we were able to talk about what comes next, listen. >> both from theing and the fentanyl. we've seen more than the previous 12 months. we've run special operations, blue lotus and the four horsemen in arizona and california and tremendous success. we had one of our largest meth seizures two days ago. our agents are doing their jobs at the check points, in between the border areas, just yesterday we had a marijuana seizure in brownsville while we're addressing the migrant surges. so we continue to focus on our border security mission set and we also have a humanitarian aspect that we've got to focus on. griff: that part is just so
9:03 am
important. they also have to do drug interdiction with, as he mentioned, fentanyl off the charts. we monitor the surging number of migrants coming to brownsville and that's a snapshot. inem paso, the numbers are rising, as well as in arizona and california. aishah: griff, i know you've been going back and forth across the border. do we have no idea how many people are waiting across the border? >> that's such a great question and the answer is we don't simply have an exact number to put on it. we know that there are tens of thousands of migrants waiting in camps just like in matamoros where our cameras went over and got exclusive footage, but our sources, aishah, in the southern part of mexico tell us that they're issuing some 15,000 temporary visas a day for migrants to travel freely for 45 days in mexico. they presumably are all headed up to our southern border,
9:04 am
aishah. aishah: wow, wow, amazing. griff jenkins live for us in brownsville, texas. we'll get back to you a little later in the hour, thanks, griff. >> for more on that we're joined by republican congressman from arizona and member of house appropriations and veterans affairs. thank you for joining us this afternoon. president biden had an interview last night and spoke about the border, here is what he had to say about it. >> i've asked this congress for help in terms of what they need at the border. they need more agents, they need more people to clear people, they need more action to, for example, we need farm workers. they're badly needed, a legal pathway to citizen. >> so the president is putting this on congress and republicans are controlling the house, what do you say to that. >> when the president says he's asking congress for help, i can tell you that border patrol and cvp has been asking the president for help for years now. they've been asking secretary mayorkas for help for years
9:05 am
now, to quote the tucson sector chief and he called it unprecedented and now has no adjective for it. the cries for help have been going from the border to washington and washington has been tone deaf about this, being led by, of course, president biden and secretary mayorkas' ultimate failure at the border. >> how does the end of title 42 change or alter the dynamic. what are you expecting over the next several days? >> well, i think in your previous segment you saw exactly what we can expect. we can expect a surge. the message has been clear for a long time from this administration that the border is not closed, that the border is not secure, that there is a crisis on the border. in spite of how much secretary mayorkas tries to hide the fact that there is a crisis. yesterday he again was, for finally at the border and called it once again a challenge instead of a crisis. he continues to miss the mark here and what's really happening. and you can see the numbers really lining up, he is in this, in this very weak and
9:06 am
embarrassing plea to migrants to come up to say please don't come. that's the among message for them to be sending to enforce the laws currently on the books. send that message out or try to send that message out six days out, that deadline has been on the books for a long time. although it may be that he lost track of time and it snuck up on him, it looks like, it doesn't sneak up on the cartels and migrants for title 42 to be lifted to increase the surge more than what we've seen so far. >> there have been some conversations, senator sinema and joe manchin signed onto it. it would extend title 42 for a couple of years, some carve-outs for people who face medical problems or torture in their home countries. do you think this is something that house republicans could get behind two year extension with those carve-outs? >> well, i want to commend the
9:07 am
senators for doing that. i think this has to be a bipartisan solution. this is impacting all towns. most of my border town mayors are democrats and they are seeing this and are as worried as anyone else about what's happening at the border. especially with the surge coming here on may 11. so, i do support the idea of extending title 42. now, let me say this, title 42 was never meant to be a permanent solution or an immigration policy per se, but this administration has opted to not enforce the laws on the books and one of the few or only tools that our border patrol agents have and cvp is title 42 to be able to expel, it looks like between 42 and 48% of those that are trying to get in. so the numbers that we've seen over 150,000 a month for the past 25 consecutive months, and that's with 42 to 48% of the migrants not being allowed in, imagine when title 42 goes away on that traffic, plus, the
9:08 am
more-- the additional traffic for that. so, yeah, i support to have as all tools possible to protect our border. >> and the u.s. debt ceiling in the next month, is there a possible chance that the u.s. breaches the debt ceiling? >> we have to, we absolutely have to. this is something that will not allow us to not meet our obligations and calling on the president to negotiate now for weeks and months and he hadn't done so. so, finally when we passed a limited saving grow act that brought him to the table and finally reached back out to speaker mccarthy, they're meeting in a few days, we need those conversations. thank you for i think us this afternoon. >> thank you. aishah: rich, from the other side of the aisle we're joined by democrat ic congress woman with the problem solving
9:09 am
caucus, important caucus and the natural resources committee. debbie dingell. >> aishah, good to be with you. aishah: i'll pick up where rich left off on the debt ceiling and the meeting on tuesday. i want to play a quick bite from the president last night where he is ahead of this meeting. >> i've said to the republican leader, here is the deal. take the debt limit-- >> okay, congresswoman is doesn't sound like there's going to be a lot of negotiating going on, and it sounds like he is set as to what he wants and this might perhaps be more of the same. >> look, we cannot not pay our bills. so,we're going to have to figure it out. this is not going to be a pleasant month, i can already feel it. people cannot big their grave so deep that we cannot get out of them. we cannot default on our bill. the immediate result of that,
9:10 am
what it would be on everyday working americans, increased interest on auto loans, credit cards, mortgages, delayed social security payments, i could go through the list, so they're going to meet them and the bill passed in the house is totally unacceptable. you were talking to my colleague and i want to work with both side of the aisle. i think we have a crisis at the border and only solved in a bipartisan way, but that bill would cut $4 billion out of customs ap border patrol agents and would eliminate almost 2500, that's not an answer either. aishah: congresswoman, but can i just ask you then, why have a meeting then? why bring folks into the negotiating table if you're not going to negotiate? >> well, first of all, you're not going to get a result. you need to talk to each other. i've always been somebody that says, you've got to build relationships, talk to each other, and try to figure out a way that you can work together.
9:11 am
so i'm always the person that says get to the table and talk. we have got to raise the debt ceiling and even my republican colleagues said we can't default. it's an unacceptable answer so our leaders are going to have to figure out how they're going to work together, but people need to understand, we have to pay our bill. we should have clean debt ceiling and then discussions-- >> i think that everybody wants to pay our bill, absolutely. let' get to the border quickly before we run out of time. title 42 obviously coming to an end this week, the president, the administration has been getting incoming from both side of the aisle and not being prepared enough. do you think that they were ready for the end of title 42? >> i think the president last week sent 1500 of our military down to the border to help local levels of government. they have been opening processing centers in colombia and guatemala to try to do pre-screening. they have released money this week, hundreds of millions of
9:12 am
dollars to 35 local levels of government. we all know this is going to be a very difficult time. i think congress has got to step up and do its job. we have failed for decades to pass comprehensive immigration reform. it's been through republican presidents, democrat presidents. i'm not pointing the finger at any party, i'm saying we've got a job to do and it's time to get immigration reform. it's complicated we have people, farmers and small businesses and care giving that need more workers, but there are people that shouldn't be coming into this country, fentanyl's real and i lost a family member to fentanyl and nobody will tell me. and-- >> crom i congresswoman, i know you're a straight shooter. with the american people. doesn't it feel like sending 1500 troops, the weekday or days before the title 42 comes
9:13 am
to an end. doesn't that feel like had a last ditch effort? why not send down judges instead? >> i think you send as many as you can. you heard the head of custom and border patrol talking about the progress they've made in the last year and i think the administration's prepared to continue to do what they've got to do to try to keep that border safe in a very difficult situation. aishah: okay. congresswoman debbie dingell always trying to bring the two sides together and find solutions. thank you so much for coming on the show. we appreciate it. >> thanks, aishah. >> president biden is defending his son hunter, as federal prosecutors near a decision on whether to indict the first son on tax and gun related charges. this as the white house confronts low poll numbers, high inflation, and a debt ceiling deadline. lucas tomlinson is live on the lawn of the white house with the latest on this. hey, lucas. >> the first time in u.s.

>> iran seizes a second oil tanker in just a week. iranian forces have taken at least five other vessels in the past two years. senators on both sides of the aisle are calling on president biden to enforce sanctions on iranian oil and gas. for more on this, retired rear admiral mark montgomery joins us, a senior fellow for the defense for democracies. thank you for joining us this afternoon. what does it mean? why are we seeing this activity? >> first of all, thank you for having me, rich. you're right the sixth tanker they've seized in the last two years and the 15th tanker they've seized, damaged or interfered with in the last two years. this is a significant violation of international rules and international norms and it's a threat to international shipping. it could easily drive up insurance and shipping rates rapidly and impact the global economy. so, really, this is iran, you know, trying to interfere with the normal transit and flow of

9:35 am
and our federal officials still don't have a plan? it's ridiculous. griff: deborah you've seen the migrants come across and released in the city. how do you feel about that? >> i think one of the major issues we're dealing with here lack of transparency from local officials, and our mayor mendez stated that they're not staying here, but anyone driving around brownsville can see they're staying here. we're utilizing ngo's, for example, team brownsville, ngo keeping some of the immigrants here and evidence is all on the streets. griff: are you worried about what happens when title 42 lifts on thursday? >> oh, i am absolutely worried. there have already been calls about stores being burglarized, people being harassed, panhandling. which naturally is going to happen when we don't have a plan for people, they're going

to get desperate and they're going to do what it takes to survive, whether it be burglarize stores, harass people, ask for money. they're asking customers at various stores for money, they're trying to get work. it's just, we are setting ourselves up for some serious problems and the fact that a lot of our local law enforcement is concentrated here should leave citizens worried. griff: now, secretary mayorkas did not, to my knowledge, meet with just the residents here, but had you had an opportunity to speak directly to secretary mayorkas, what would you have said to him? >> oh, that's a really good question. i would ask him if he even cares about us because i have to take my son to school, who is-- his school is kind of in the middle of this and it's -- it's cruel to not have a plan in place for all of the people you're supposed to represent and yet, you're bringing thousands more over and then you have the audacity to lie to

to celebrate this moment in this tradition that we see and all the pageantry was mixed with modern takes as the king earlier today was able to enter the westminster abbey. a lot of pageantry culminating in this moment and king charles arrived with a coronation tunic and the youngest heir ever to participate in a coronation, prince george. the music and choir in the ceremony so moving that it brought many in this procession to tears. it was an effort to modernize the image of the monarchy and the first time that gospel music was featured in a coronation ceremony. the archbishop of canterbury conducted the deeply religious service which for the first time with other faiths. and the crowning of king charles, a ways about five pounds, adorned with 444 jewels. in tradition the monarch

incredible and obviously, watching on tv, it was incredible, but for those present, it really would have been a very moving experience to have all of that wonderful noise swelling up around you. aishah: one of the best moments, if we can pull up the video, was prince william, giving his pledge of loyalty to his father, his king, and you can't help, but watch this moment that he's kneeling down and he's staring into his father's eyes and can't help, but think of the other son, harry and where he was sitting in this moment and that he might have perhaps also been able to have this moment had things gone differently. how did you read that moment? and what do you make of today's events? they could have been different, right? harry could have been included? >> of course, yeah, 100%. if he was a working royal, i'm sure they would have found some kind of a role from him and who knows, found a role for archie. he's only four, he might be too young, to be fair, but clearly

a deeply personal moment between father and son with william and charles and harry was watching from the third row back in the abbey. now, he's never been fantastic at hiding his emotions in situations like this and his face, again, told a thousand words, but a slightly different story to charles'. he did not look hugely happy for a lot of this. i'm sure he's jet lagged, but needless to say he looked kind of dower and down beat. aishah: part of it has to be he's standing in the third row you see him there behind pretty much everyone, right? and you saw him walking in, as well, behind the entire family, and thankfully he had an in-law that kind of reached out and tried to speak to him. but, this is-- how do you think king charles deals with harry and meghan now that he is officially coronated as king? does he try to have a conversation with them or does he sort of let this fade away?
9:55 am
>> he absolutely tries to have a conversation with them. it's always better to be the bigger person and it has to be that the monarchy doesn't do revenge and doesn't do pettiness so he has to kind of visibly always have an open door for harry and share kindness and compassion although i'm sure there are hugely powerful emotions on all sides and i say all rather than both, and prince william is his own person and upset about things harry said in interviews and his book "spare." but the thing that i ultimately hear more than any other comment, it's just so sad that the brothers don't have the relationship that we all thought they had. so, in terms of the public's perspective, i think they will always want to see harry patch things up with his family if it's possible. aishah: that conversation not happening today at all or tomorrow because apparently he is on a plane or headed for a plane back home. really quickly, 20 seconds, what are you hearing about
