press. why did the "new york post" yesterday get an email from the press office saying hey, you're not going to be able to attend this event. part of the email said this: we are unable to accommodate credential request investing in airline accountability remarks on 5/8 that's yesterday. the remarks will be live streamed and can you watch it at whitehouse.gov like everybody else. thank you for understanding. we will let you know if a credential becomes available. what's curious about this is the fact that we're not talking about the small brady briefing room. we are talking about the bigger one in the executive office building. there's plenty of space. so why did they say nope to the "new york post." >> brian: we have shots of the empty seats. codger elderly man especially one old fashioned or eccentric always harp on about something

administration knows they are in a lot of trouble because things are now getting confirmed with data, with documents. they are subpoenaing people to come in whether it's antony blinken or christopher wray. and so there is a lot of pressure right now because i think things are getting equities posed really in a way that i don't think they anticipated. >> steve: to that point, rachel, if we remember the edges pressure elections have consequences. well the republicans won the house and now they have got subpoena power. here's the thing about the "new york post" not getting access to that event yesterday. two other journalists were initially barred but one of them was eventually let. in and we don't know why the "new york post" was excluded but it looks spishts. given the aggressive reporting by people like steven nelson, their white house correspondent and miranda devine who wrote the laptop from hell which was all about hunter biden's atlanta.

republicans are to be commended for passing a bill that would both raise the debt ceiling in a responsible fashion but also reduce spending by almost $5 trillion over the next 10 years which we need to do to address our spending crisis. but joe biden for months now said he simply won't sit down to negotiate. makes me wonder if he or his minders are worried about him sitting down to negotiate 1 on 1 with kevin mccarthy and if he is capable of doing that first step is for joe biden and chuck schumer to recognize that republicans are now in charge the house. they passed a respond piece of legislation. the democrats are going to have to negotiate with speaker mccarthy to reach a responsible outcome here. >> inflation reduction act $368 billion. up to 900 billion. i don't know how do you that how do you pass something at one level and triple it and not have any ramifications. they have already round up almost a trillion dollars. we are in may of this year's spending, why wouldn't they use this as an opportunity to say hey, party, i'm under the hammer

here. i have to start reigning things in because we are $31 trillion in debt? do they want to wait three weeks? is this not brinkmanship yet? >> what they want to do is keep spending money. traditionally when you increase the debt ceiling, it's also a time to look at why you need to increase the debt ceiling. this happened under president trump. it happened under president obama. president bush, president clinton. it's not unusual to have spending reforms accompany a debt ceiling increase. but, i will tell you what the democrats are hoping to do secretly. they want to cut defense once again. i'm on the armed services committee. we were supposed to sit down in committee later this month and pals our annual defense bill, which provides troops pay raises. which acquires the weapons and equipment that we need for our national security and a lot of other important things. pushed that off by a month. why? because he wants defense cuts to be on the table. >> brian: how could he honestly say we have to take on the challenge of china, honestly say

you have to support ukraine, honestly understand we have to put 1500 troops at the border which is symbolism but costs us money and cut spending? how could you do that? >> it's because it's what democrats always do when they get into office. they always look at the military. it's just another government program that they can cut to fund social welfare schemes and green dreams that somehow you are going to have electrical grid that runs solely on wind and solar power. yet, you are going to electrify everything from cars to stoves to entire homes. this is what democrats always do. they de-prioritize defense spending which is what chuck schumer has done and take unreasonable positions on things like the debt ceiling, which is what joe biden has done. >> brian: senator, you mentioned the house did something they didn't think they were going to do. pass something idea spending needed in order to cut a deal. they have done it. kevin mccarthy is now armed unlike john boehner to go in and deal with the president. schumer and ballots went up to

trump and said you want to healthcare system delay healthcare pass taxes. politically not good. disaster relieve. increase spending on domestic programs from education to healthcare and infrastructure. and trump did it. why can't people just call a press conference and say we just want you to do will when things are reversed what we did. >> exactly. that's why joe biden and chuck schumer's position is completely unreasonable and really unprecedented the idea that you are always going to increase the debt ceiling with no spending reforms or any other measures included. that is a historical. saying we shouldn't have a debt ceiling. if every time the debt squealing is come up we are going to lift it. what's the point of having the debt ceiling as a way to sit down and have a conversation about how we need to address our spending problems. >> brian: your prediction is not much today but within three weeks there will be some type of negotiation? >> i hope so. i saw senator mcconnell's remarks there is no senate plans in the senate to bail joe biden out on this. not only is there not a secret

dad threw his hat in the ring to fight against the diversity, equity and inclusion agenda. in a new op-ed and it's excellent you should read it. charles love warns dei is everywhere in our schools and it's hurting our kids. we need to act. charles love joins us now. charles, so great to have you here this morning. so your child's in kindergarten and you find out that the lesson for the day is stem education and. >> excited. >> rachel: so excited for this. and the systemic marginalization of women and minorities why is that being taught in kindergarten. >> this is important and that's why i spoke up because we hear all the noise about arguments of crt. you don't want to teach black history. i didn't speak about any of that the point is you wanted to teach very young kids stem, which is great thing and your first lesson is women have been marginalized first they are too young and don't understand it. even if it's if blacks and women have been marginalized and you want more of them to work in

stem careers the way to do it is make them interested in math and science. not in the past you haven't been able to do this job. put pressure on them. don't use the neglective to make them want to do this and it makes no sense. >> rachel: en it's about divisiveness and early indoctrination happening earlier and earlier. you and i talked earlier off camera. it's not that they are just doing these kind of lessons plans but what they're not doing. i told you my kids are in a catholic academy where in first grade they're learning about the french revolution and reign of terror and classical artist. what is not being taught because it's being filled with so many of these kinds of lessons. >> it's just the as i remember math. there is a finite amount of time. you can't teach everything. if you are substituting things that aren't working for other things, that's the problem. and a lot of the argument is you think that it's all about race. and you're trying to defend whites and limit all this stuff. the bottom line is if you are trying to close academic gaps

and help minorities if that's your goal you are not going to do it by not teaching the minority kids or worse here's another thing they are doing especially in new york. is teaching them differently. talk racism. how about telling parents openly in emails can i show the email from the doe we are excited we are going to teach the black kids differently. it's not unless they can't do math teach them the black way. >> rachel: coming from the department of education. vivek ramaswamy and other republican candidates are saying it's time to eliminate the department of education and get back to local alcohol. is that something you would get behind. >> possibly, the other thing you and i were talking about is my motto is we can't legislate our way out of this. there is different things can you move from a federal level. things can you do from a funding standpoint. but we have a cultural rot. if 80% of the country is not that large. you have a large amount of people that are loud and they are pushing this extreme narrative and they believe half the country is evil, if that's the belief, then they are going to follow that regardless.
