>> todd: caroline schiffley is live on the ground this morning. caroline. >> post-title 42, here at gate 42, couple miles from where we were yesterday, buses are coming and migrants are being taken to processing center. in the last hour, we shot new video to show you of migrants coming through and being checked and loading up on the buses. numbers from the el paso sector on the border patrol. in april, el paso sector saw 1400 encounters are if the whole month. the last two days, they had 1500 per day. they pushed to get to the border and they wouldn't be allowed in if they waited. mayorkas released a statement saying, starting now, if you arrive here, we will assume you

are not eligible for asylum and they have 24000 border patrol and asylum officers and judges. >> we are ready to meet them. we expected to see large numbers of encounters initially, we are seeing high numbers in certain sectors. >> the texas national guard is along the border in brownsville. tactical team members were blocking migrants from crossing the border yesterday. some republican lawmakers toured last night and had harsh words for administration policy. >> what you don't see down here tonight is democrats. >> right. >> joe biden is not here, kamala harris is not here. you can see along here, shirts of people caught in the razor wire. that little gerl girl, can't be

judge and beyond a judge. you mentioned the -- if they go beyond the -- well, enough people -- that builds the facilities have to start releasing. figure that out, but they probably will figure out there are ways around this expedited thing and a lot of them can apply unaccompanied minors who will continually be allowed in. a lot of family units will probably be released into the country, as well. they will not detain unitses. >> todd: todd bensman in the thick of it in matamoros, mexico. thank you.

with hurricanes we have the models i show during hurricane season, different models as to where the cone will go. that is computer generated data, mathematical equation and we input the atmosphere and temperature and wind, we input that data to get the computer model information. i think that ai is going to help us. we're getting help with ai, when it comes to rapid intensification of hurricanes. i think we can work in tandem. it is important to have data, have you heard of chaos theory or butterfly effect. i don't think computers will be able to capture that. >> ashley: long story short, you don't think humans will be taken

out of your industry? >> janice: i don't. don't get rid of me yet. >> todd: one limit is that butterfly theory and effect. in the end, will ai within the weather context, make people's lives better? >> janice: a think a little easier, big mathematical ekwagsz -- equations are done by computer now. you have to think of local meteorologist, they are important because they know the nuances of the cities they forecast for. three inches of rain is different across florida than the southwest and i don't think a computer can tell you that. >> ashley: you have been using ai and computers for a long time with meteorology, did you ever think we would be having this discussion about it taking over?

the police would be the answer to cutting down on crime. there is a lot that goes into this, but when you look at them being funded and police being put on the street, is it deterrence or response times? how have the numbers gone down? >> i wish i could tell you. we have not really added police, we are using police on every overtime and working double shifts and comparing this year's crime to record-breaking years in the last two years, so it looks like decrease. take a step back, that is not what the community is seeing and feeling. crime is still really high. we're down a lot of cops, about 10% of the police force, which might not sound like a lot, it ends with mandatory overtime, it

makes it look like crime is down, that is not what the community is seeing. >> ashley: why was there a change of heart? what made tacoma hire more police? >> well, we were hiring to replace attrition. we are budgeted 366 and we're about 330. in 2010, we were budgeted 400 cops. we have been defunded. numbers decreasing are just coming down from record-breaking years, crime is still really high, the community is frustrated, response times are bad. until we take concrete steps and change things, we'll have high crime. unacceptable levels of crime. >> ashley: you talk about crime being high, other category your city have seen a drop in crime. any drop is good.

>> ashley: former marine daniel penny is set to turn himself in to the manhattan district attorney office today to face manslaughter charges in the death of jordan neely on the subway last week. >> todd: alexandria hoff has details. >> alexandria: the veteran faces 15 years in jail. his attorneys stating this, when mr. penny stepped in to protect himself and his fellow passengers, fellow new yorkers, his well being was not assured, he risked his own safety. the unforeseen death of mr. jordan neely. once the facts are brought to bear, mr. penny will be

absolved. da alvin bragg's office 10 days after attempt to subdue 30-year-old jordan neely via choke hold resulted in his death. passengers say jordan neely had been making threatses. attorneys representing jordan neely's family said daniel penny's statement is not showing regret. he believed he was entitled to take jordan's life. he needs to be in prison. new york city mayor adams says he's staying out of it. >> i think it is important not to interfere as the mayor of the city in those parts that the police department has yet to take their action and the da will make the determination how to handle this case and i respect that, respect da bragg's job and what he has to do. >> alexandria: jordan neely

death sparked rolling protest throughout new york city, those there saying this needs to be called murder. fox news contributor leo terrell had this to say about the manslaughter charge. >> leo: this is a racially charged prosecution. it is because the defendant is black and the marine is white. and the individuals that assisted the marine were people of color. i think this case will go nowhere. motivation was based on race. >> alexandria: a woman told the "new york post" she was on the train at the time and said jordan neely's threats included killing people on this subway car. >> todd: a lot of evidence to be presented. thank you. big three evening news appear to have the same take on this story, watch. >> police say jordan neely was harassing passengers and acting erratically issue but was not

physically violent. >> the marine said he never intended to harm jordan neely. >> this charge carries maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and it is used when someone recklessly causes the death of someone else. >> ashley: joe concha joins us. i don't know if you heard the tag of the story. she said a woman spoke out and said some threats, her words, threats jordan neely was giving was killing people whachl does the left expect people to do, not act in self-defense for yourself and people on the train? >> joe: that's right. result of the charges will be simple. if you're in a public place like subway and you see someone threatening someone else's life, you will not be inclined to step in and help those being threatened. you will walk away to save

yourself from going to jail for 15 years and doing the right thing, that is what this is saying. don't bother trying to help, even if you're a marine with the proper training, just walk away, maybe nothing will happen. in this case, jordan neely had been previously arrested 44 times for multiple assaults, including of old people. he once tried to kid nap a seven-year-old kid. that part gets ignored in the stories we're seeing in the news and suddenly the marine who tried to protect others is the bad guy and racist and to leo terrell's point, there were people of color trying to help him subdue jordan neely. the lives of criminals are valued more than law abiding citizens, while most of the media says good job, alvin, this needs to be done. this is a whole ball of wrong

i have been in congress for a while. i have seen all the legislation been passed through the democrat controlled congress, and it's purposeful. they want an open border for what end goal? i do not know. i can only guess. but, you know, yesterday on the floor of the house of representatives, republicans passed a border security bill. we have a solution. the democrats complained about it. they said that we should work with them on a comprehensive plan. well, they had two years, two years of total control of the house, the senate, the presidency, they did nothing to secure the border. and these people -- even the immigrants are being hurt by the cartels. girls are being sold into sex slavery. this is something that the democrats and biden are complicit in. they are doing absolutely nothing to help our country be secured. it's awful. >> ashley: you know, you were just talking about the secure the border act that did pass.

it's probably -- biden is probably going to vito it and vt i'm not sure what that means to the united states or americans. what does that signify to you? what's going to happen? >> we don't know what's going to happen. certainly republicans were elected for multiple reasons but one of the reasons was to secure the border because as you see in the polling, americans want a secure border. they wants to know who is crossing the border. we're compassionate nation. we have over 1 million people a year that legally immigrate to the united states. that's more than any other country in the entire world. but we can't just let everybody and anybody in to our country without screening them, without vetting them. there has been border patrol agents that said that they're not even vetting the adults that these children, unaccompanied children are going to. they are being sold into sex slavery. this is outrageous. if the democrats and biden want to be compassionate to these
