by the disappearance of alabama college student natalie holloway in aruba is slated for extradition to the u.s. from peru. the fact that as soon as this weekend. van der sloot will face extortion and fraud charges for his alleged role in targeting holloway's mother. jonathan is alive in atlanta that with the details on this story. >> hi there brian. van der sloot faces federal charges that he approached the holloway family asking for up to quarter of a million dollars. in return he would lead them to natalie holloway's body which of course has never been found.

natalie was only 18 when she disappeared on high school graduation trip to the dutch caribbean island of aruba back in 2005. she was last seen leaving a popular tourist bar with jen for the side of the now deceased judge on the island. they briefly detain him but lacked enough evidence to charge him in connection with natalie's presumed death. van der sloot is currently in a maximum security prison in the foothills of the andes where he is serving a 28 year sentence for the 2010 murder of stephanie influenza 21 year old peruvian woman he had met at a casino. but a judge added seven years to that sentence after van der sloot was convicted of trafficking drugs in prison. for his ambassador to the u.s. at his country is working to make his extradition to the u.s. happen as soon as possible. >> this individuals cause a lot of sorrow. not only in the u.s. but also in

we are going to let him go to the united states. it's going to continue to serve his peruvian sentence. they're going to let the justice system to decide the fraud allegations against natalie holloway's mother. if he is convicted in the united states he will go back for it is kind of convoluted, to peru to serve the sentence of the murder of the peruvian woman. when he is so with that sentence he will be returned to the united states to serve the sentence for conviction of a wire fraud and the fraud he committed on natalie holloway's mom. that carries up to 50 years in the united states pretty has a 28 year sentence right now. so essentially they are allowing the judicial process to occur here so can be secured without being compromised we know as prosecutors, after many years cases get weak, they finally make the decision let the american justice system adjudicated there.
