investigations. this sounds eerily similar to the saints bounty case. you remember that that scandal coaches would play players cash bonuses for hits that would result in injuries to other players and the head coach was suspended for an entire season. somebody at the fbi needs to be suspended. >> jesse: the more cases an fbi field office had the bigger the end of the year cash bonus was for whoever was in charge of the office. so what do you think happened? the fbi opened cases on everyone for anything. if you just happen to be in d.c. on january 6th, you probably had a file opened on you. have a certain flag flying outside your house? the fbi hand book says you're a terrorist. >> that guide identified certain things that made people more likely to be deemed a threat or terrorist, didn't it? >> yes. >> was the betsy ross flag in the terrorism symbol guide? >> it was. >> and what about the betsy ross

flag makes someone more likely to be a violent extremist? >> i wish there was a reasonable explanation for that. >> and instead of cracking down on real criminals, fbi officers got sent into school parking lots. >> you used to go after the worst of the worst, didn't you? >> yes, i believe so. >> you went after people that looked at child porn? >> yes. >> and then you were in the parking lot of a school board meeting taking down the information of parents. what happened to the cases that you were working to protect our communities from the worst predators that exist? >> i was told they were not to be resourced and then after i was suspended, they were handed off to local law enforcement. >> wow, so, the fbi just decided it was more important to have you in that parking lot of that school board meeting than getting the worst of the worst away from people that they could harm? >> that's correct. >> jesse: now if the fbi says white supremacy is the number one threat to democracy, then the fbi can make a fortune

investigating everything, a parent, a flag waiver, a catholic, a gun owner, you name it. it's open season on all of us. all they have to do is open up an investigation and they get paid for it. but if you try to blow the whistle then you get your whole life taken away from you. >> one of your really good friends, your former colleagues came to you and said itch this thing that is being covered up and i think the american people need to know about it, what advice would you give them. >> i would advise them not to do it. the fbi will crush you. this government will crush you. and your family if you try to expose the truth about things that they are doing that are wrong. and we are all examples of that. >> jesse: two of the fbi whistleblowers from today's hearing in congress steve friend and garrett owe boil join us now along with congressman jim jordan garrett we have evidence that they were handing out cash

bonuses for the investigation these opened? >> to some degree, yes. it's a little more complicated than that there is a system in the fbi where the executive management does get the cash bonus if they get gold check marks in certain criterias. >> jesse: so you are not actually looking for crime? in a way you are creating crime? >> in a way, yes. >> and do you believe that by designating white supremacy as the top terrorist domestic threat in the country kind much allowed the bureau to, i don't know, open up investigations on pretty much everything and everybody? >> it certainly helped. >> and how do you feel how does your family feel after you guys have gone through all of this? >> we're just trying to do the right thing for this nation and if that means even becoming homeless at the hands of the fbi, then we're willing to do it. we're willing to sacrifice that.

>> jesse: do you think the fbi can be salvaged? saved? what? >> i pray that it can be. but i don't know if it truly can be. it's going to take a lot of work. it's going to take a lot of brave men and women inside the fbi and outside the fbi to ensure that it gets back on course. and working for the american people in the way it's supposed to. >> jesse: steve, you have been on "primetime" before. are there enough agents in the bureau that have a good heart and have some stones and are going to be able to stand up to this craziness? >> i think that are a lot of really good people that are just waiting to see what happened. what was brought to the forefront today during this hearing and i think that garrett and myself and marcus allen, we brought the information. the certainly the republicans on the committee were very receptive to that information. and we sort of laid the groundwork for people to feel that they can be protected if whistleblowers -- for the protection that we didn't receive but now that the republicans in the house are on

alert for that they have those protection and bring information forward to the select committee and get to the business of correcting the bureau. >> jesse: do you think and i know you are not a political guy do you think you were treated with respect by members of the committee who were democrats today? >> i mean, i don't think that you could argue that i was. there was allegations that i was a grifter, when, in fact, i received a charitable donation when i was in a state of unpaid indefinite suspension. my wife had lost her job and it was christmas time. so i don't think that accepting charity is something i was proud to do, certainly when i took my marriage vows and i promised that i would take care of my wife and our children from that day forward, that was nothing that made me excited and proud to accept. in tough times you have to count on the generosity of others. i think any sort of allegation that i gave up a very lucrative career in order to accept a donation several months later from an individual who i have never met in my entire life is

quite frankly laughable. >> jesse: congressman. the fbi is playing hard ball. and now they are firing whistleblowers, essentially, making them homeless. the democrats are assassinating their character. the media is not even covering. this do you think the fbi is going to get away with this are you even going to have another whistleblower from the bureau? >> i think so because of these brave guys. jesse, we now know that government agencies have been turned on the american people because of folks like mr. o'boyle and mr. friend and others just like them. we know that parents attending school board meetings have been targeted. pro-lifers praying at clinics have been targeted. catholics simply going to church, going to mass have been targeted because of people like this. i do think more will come forward and that will help us as we get to the appropriations process which is where we really have the leverage. we can say look, you are going to do things like this you? are going to attack good men who have served our country like these guys, then we have to look at the appropriations process certain money can't be spent certain ways you may not be getting as much money. that's the only real leverage we
