president biden has for a long time been reluctant to send those fighter jets. yesterday the administration announced he will support american allies in their treatment ukrainian pilots on the advanced aircraft. that could eventually lead to other nations sending f-16s to ukraine. jon kirby on the president's decision when he was asked by the president doing this now who resisted clues from ukraine for more than one year. >> nothing change what we have been evolving our support for ukraine as the war has evolved. we are talking about fighter aircraft group that is not designed to help us in the immediate future with the counteroffensive. peter doocy's trouble with the presence joining us live. so peter, do you tell what is happening there? you have all the details give it to us a problem with questions after you start.

press arthel the plan here is not to just give the ukrainian fighters fighter jets. instead is to train ukrainian pilot summer in europe once they're up to speed figure out who in the g7 is going to provide these aircraft for the war effort. we had been told for most of a year that in no uncertain terms president biden did not think zelensky needed the f-16s. now are being told by the president's top national security advisor why exactly that is changing now. looks we have reached a moment where it is time to look down the road and to say what is ukraine going to need as part of a future force to be able to deter and defense against russian aggression as we go forward? f-16 fourth-generation aircraft are part of that mess. >> as for the other big story of the day, when a reporter asked president biden about the debt limit the president said to you and this is a quote, shush up.
