[applause] can i get an amen i'll tell you the truth. >> elon musk tweeting great statement by tim scott few hours ago scott responded this is our mission elon musk will save you a seat on monday. that's when senator scott is set to formally announce his bid. former president trump's team using the announcement about scott to hit florida governor ron desantis calling it a path to second place his campaign relesioning a statement that reads, quote, ron desantis failed shadow campaign has opened the floodgates for career politicians looking to see an opportunity to raise profile head of the 2028 race and tim scott aggressive media purchase doesn't need to cap desantis but scott sees same thing as youngkin kristy and others -- the path to second place is wide open. they smell ron desantis blood in the water and no longer see him as an obstacle kellyanne conway straight to you is this the race to second place?

and funny how they hit desantis they like play with him and it works he made a cardinal mistake in the last six month allowed himself a combination of the voters in the media to be seen as an alternative after the 19 point victory was say i'm an alternative to joe biden and kept himself there and then every split screen you've -- that we would have shown for six months would see biden and desantis. but it's biden and trump, and it is trump and desantis and i think it was a clever statement coming out of the trump camp because they're talking about 2028 they're basically saying this race is over everybody. last point, there is -- there is an impulse to attack donald trump to beat him for this nomination. but remember, as you have fun ron desantis chris christie attacking donald trump you have to attract his voters and they're not going to like that so i think it is very difficult to run against him. >> kellyanne it is great to getting your thought own it because you've run one of the most successful campaigns in history so jason i want to bring

you as welg well run successful campaigns as whole you look at a big diverse field many of whom who have relationships with donald trump and serve and under trump unn ambassador it is a big diverse field. is this the race for second place? >> well donald trump has a commanding lead. i mean, he's so far out in front i don't know that anybody could catch him. but i have a tim scott i served with him in congress i serve with ron desantis in congress. i've been to i don't know countless dinners with tim scott i'm proud that he's a leader in our party. ting shows that we have a -- depth of bench that is highly capable and tom scott is inspirational for so many people i've read his book and spent twiem him he's the real thing and i think he'll do exceptionally well as voters get to know him can he get to the finish line that's catching lightning -- in a bottle but i'm just telling

you it is in terms of a human being that you can trust and you like, it doesn't get any better than tim scott. but -- i wish him all of the well and everybody will be proud he's part of our party. >> go to joe next but first numbers real quick because we're talking about how far ahead trump is. 58 to desantis behind him not at all just at 16% so really far behind him. joe bringing you in we've been talking about, you know, is this the race to second place is kind of the theme of the discussion. but we do have sh broadening field bigger and bigger in the past we've seen republicans do have a tendency to run a couple of times before they ultimately get nomination so how do you see this playing out right now? >> i think it is more of the race to vice presidential selection to donald trump than second place maybe that is the same thing second place gets you that vp nod and in term of campaign and kellyanne you know it could have been a lot more sharp and harsh than it was with tim scott and in boxing terms it was more like a jab than hay maker. so i think with --

somebody like tim scott the rhino label will not stick. he truly is a conservative when you look at his position compared to donald trump very hard to find any it space there and that's the challenge here -- how do these candidates who are so much like trump and desantis or haley or tim scott how do you draw that contrast peel off votes from trump, and then somehow get ahead of them. it seems desantis strategy at this point is tim used to say so famously florida, florida, in this case it is iowa, iowa, iowa donald trump did not win iowa in 2016 people forget that. that was ted cruz and desantis says if i can get a win or or at least be close then i can have the momentum in new hampshire polling pretty well and from there to south carolina tim scott it couldn't -- it is not the slam dunk i don't think people think it is and from a media perspective in 2016, 17 candidates run and you barely heard from i have in them because media focus on donald trump why he was good for ratings he was good for clicks, and in this case again, donald

trump will blot out the sun it is going to be hard for desantis, scott, haley, pence, to get the media attention in order to get the momentum to catch trump. >> when you talk about go ahead kelly. >> in fairness he has center stage at the first fox debate on august 6th that never lost it that. right ahead in the polls now. his team has done something clever the last couple of years they've gone from 7 states that were going to take on primaries to 17 states help trump get the nomination in 2016. for example, in south carolina -- he got about 34 and a half percent of the vote. rubio and cruz split 50% of the votes. but trump won because he won all 50 dell galts it was win or take all and jeb bush drobbed out and win or attack all contest that challenge from ron desantis as he meets with big done rs in miami and launching campaign as we expect him to do. he has to explain why he's losing to donald trump in florida. iowa is one thing but if you got that 189 point victory and trump was supposed to be fight on his

back how are you losing in florida he's your constituent you're his governor and if anything he should be able to see and ron desantis was on the phone i was disappointed it is not true he was saying trump can't win in swing states he's not electable. any single poll says otherwise. i know where he's getting that from and people he's hired let me tell you that's called staph infection those don't leave a campaign until they've picked every last dollar and get seven eight figure checks san diego son is laughing because he knows how this works in our party take it to the bank. but look, i also think that who gets selected is trump vice presidential candidate could be on the stage but in 2016 it was not on the stage mike pence did not run against him and i'm the world famously worst match maker -- don't ask me to help you -- , however, that is one and done. i put trump and pence together knew it was the national consultant in common when trump picked him and didn't pick him because he wasn't on the stage but an awful lot to do with a

fresh perspective and fact that, pence had been in washington but never become washington. governor of indiana at the time, obviously, very beloved in the evangelical base and that was important so i think this is fascinating but the way that the trump people are handling it rather than just attacking everybody is like welcome -- the water is warm. everybody come forth donald trump loves competition and he's going to have a lot of it. >> and they'll split the vote to come in because -- you're fighting for this. yeah thing the if end ept to think that see if jason and kellyanne does it come down to first debate? is that the big only moment for desantis or scott to show that they belong and they can take on donald trump? if donald trump even debates at all? >> it is a fascinating debate it comes in august i don't know if donald trump will do it. but we'll see. >> he won't for now. >> we shall see. >> who are we kidding -- going say it is hard to imagine that not happening like kellyanne said he stood in the middle for all of the the debates and why not get we'll see up to him i guess.

a new opinion piece in the washington examiner claims the false accusation it's ruined her life. it reads in part, quote, ultimately the reason this woman has been suspended from her job and potentially mischaracterized in a heinous way is not about race it's about human nature. why are we so dwoik jump down the throats the people we villainize why do question give into our desire to see the world in the way we want? this is a disgusting story in my mind this woman is like 6 months pregnant -- she's yelling for help. and society is there oh -- turn on our video camera that's how people help it is helpful to have the video but she's asking for help in a legitimate way beenen the job 12 hours going out and she's surrounded by this group of men. joe, i can't imagine if thftion my daughter --

i just -- i cannot believe what's happened to her. or your wife this story makes my blood boil my wife is an er doctor i've seen her after the 12 hour shift this is a pa physician assistant they are vital to doctors and er. the work is completely underappreciated completely overworkeds here you have a woman six months pregnant still has to bike home after that and these people to harass her the way they did and for the media to jump to conclusion they did here a racist karen, a person who saves lives -- a pregnant woman and this is what we see and it's just incredible to me whoever reported on this and pushed this story like nbc should come out and apologize we all get things wrong. here's the thing, though, who does the right thing and corrects record here and who runs and hides as if it never happened? >> let's look at that piece from nbc news here's the clip. roughly two minute video starts with a white woman wearing hospital scrubs strardling a

city bike screaming for help even though she doesn't appear in danger no one answered at the brooklyn apartment or returned our calls for comment. this woman lives in her building -- that woman lives in this building with me -- at this neighbor says young men would have ended up in jail or worse. >> it is clearly like a karen -- she's viewed as victim because she's white. and she thinks that that's obvious in this america that we all live in. >> wow. gosh -- molly how do you react when you see that story and you now we start to hear the facts? >> so -- one of the things about this story reminds me of the nick sand story from 2019 where this video emerges of a teenager that have come to washington in catholic school to protest in march for life and only video for a short second him smiling with the native american man playing drum inches from his face, and then the school put out a statement about him he was accused of being a racist of --

you know, all sorts of intolerable things ultimately that longer video came out that showed that actually the elder man had approached the group of boys and really -- just stood there as essentially what he did stood there. ultimately he tried to sue media which he was able to do successfully he settled with number of entity it was cn nwa post nbc some of the lawsuits were dropped so i do wonder about success she may have because she has a lawyer in the same sort outcome because that's lawyer side will not go after the men in this video. but after the media that is essentially painted her in this light. >> let's look at the clip. the attorney for her justin moreno was on america newsroom here's what he said about the distinct. >> thee receipts show she rented the bike. the serial numbers play and what social media did to this woman who is hero and within one

new york knows that you can't have a two-hour car chase you can have two hours of traffic going nowhere and so many along this law enforcement and taxi cab driver and paparazzi, they've all really diminished chief claims herein i like pull up we have a couple of elements to show first the quote from harry and meghan spokesperson, the duke and dutchess of sussex and involved in a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a rings of highly aggressive paparazzi and you see the photography group respond to this by according to the photographers present there were no near collisions or near crashes during this distinct the photographers have reported feeling that the couple was not in immediate danger at any pongt well i think it is important it is not just a he said, she said, they said it is very important to recognize we all know how sensitive prince harry would be about this given the way his mother passed away we're all sensitive to that but i think they should be sensitive that way too to not embellish a story
