next journey in the american story is much better than my own. you know, i think, perhaps, there are two pillars of the focus on my future. faith in america to me really means the story in this land of opportunity. and not having the land of oppression. it's really focusing on the cultural issues around grievance vs. greatness. one of those issues that we have to focus on. and second really is the national security apparatus. there's a big issue around the border that we have to address. >> brian: you know, i almost feel bad because i feel like almost tim scott is too good for politics. he is such great guy. >> ainsley: wanted to be a preacher. >> brian: ben carson got in the race. great personal. next thing you know personally attacked and being personally challenged. i guess that's part of politics. the senator is going to get in. the thing that propelled him and i don't think anyone would disagree with this, is that when tim scott gave his rebuttal

speech off the president's first state of the union address. would it be state of the union or first address? when he came back and spoke at a time in which so many people got hurt after giving that address. bobby jindal. senator marco rubio. he nailed it. everyone said who is this guy? i hope he runs for president? >> at that time he said president, me? now he is like president, me. >> ainsley: we went to church with him. tim, remember, you'ved to be a minister. he said really could have been a great minister but you will be such a better president. he hadn't decided if he was going to run then. he said that's where his minister felt that was his gift. that's what god gifted him with. when you do have a strong faith, it's easier to cover i don't mean the hardships in life. when people are saying negative things about him and that will come, when it does with every presidential president. he probably will be able to surpass that and a get through it because of his faith and just being so close to god. he bought his mother a house. he bought his mother a car. he is really is all around

seemingly a wonderful person. i haven't heard anything negative about him. >> steve: he has got smarts. he is passionate. he is calm. and brian, maybe he is too good for politics. this just gives republican as clear choice. obviously what he is going to do is he is going to test whether a more optimistic vision of america's future can resonate with the republicans. he did put out an ad that is now running and elon musk came out and said that is a great ad. it was about scott's anti-victimhood presidential ad talking about the importance of individual responsibility. he says if you're able-bodied you work. if you take out a loan you pay it back. if you commit a violent crime. you go to jail. can i get an amen? and the place went crazy. >> ainsley: what i also love about him is his story is the all-american story. he talks about how his family, they went from cotton to congress, he says. his grandfather used to sit at the kitchen table and pretend to read the newspaper because he wanted tim, his grandson, to

feel to think he could read and he really couldn't. he would sit there for 45 minutes and read the newspaper because he wanted to be a good influence on his grandson. his momma went to the grandparents' door when they left or broke up with her two children her daddy opened the door and said "you're always welcome home. come home to us. >> "they grew up together. he grew up in his grandparents' house. his mom bought a little condo in north charleston. they lived in someville. he had to drop her off. one car and worked at the hospital in charleston. he had to drive. one day he was so tired because he had football the night before. he went to bed late. he was driving back and he got in this major car accident on i-26 i believe. and the car flipped and rolled and he wasn't sure if he was going to be able to play football anymore. he talks about overcoming that accident and how that affected his life and his book. his book is really great. we did do that special on fox nation called "who is tim

because he may not have been perfect with his aim or because he may have told police, look, i was a little afraid i might have flinched. that's not felony recklessness. that's not criminal recklessness. this is not someone who needs to be tagged as a violent offender. >> brian: incredible they will split the difference in this way. give everybody an understanding what stand your ground means in tennessee. no duty to retreat before using deadly force if you are not engaged in unlawful activity. you have a reasonable belief of imminent danger of death. the danger creating the belief is real and reasonable. so they are saying the guy is already in the back of the driveway, stealing a car doesn't mean you're in danger. and are you being reckless? he did say he closed his eyes and shot because he couldn't see them behind the car because of that he is in trouble. they are stealing his car. repeatedly and he went out there because he didn't know if they were coming in the house next. i'm curious do see if that's going to work.

york city as we start fleet week this week, we have got temperatures in the 50's with sunny skies. it's going to be a nice week, actually, with maybe some rain in the forecast on sunday. but we'll get to that in just a second there are your current temperatures across the country. warming up for the northern plains and upper midwest. in terms of showers and thunderstorms. we have got development over the southern plains, the potential for severe storms including tornadoes this week monday and tuesday. and then, also watching this disturbance out near the bahamas. and another one just offshore of the carolinas. so, the official season begins for hurricane season june 1st but already tracking a couple disturb baptizes out in the atlantic. regardless of whether that disturbance in the bahamas develops. we are dealing with a florida washout this week as we head into the memorial day weekend. several inches of rainfall for the sunshine state over the next several days in towards the weekend. here is one of our fox models, area of low pressure by the way
