and breaking news about hunter and the irs and with less than two years ago until the 2024 election, democrats are playing the race card. they are trying to vilify the state of florida. all eyes are on the biden white house where joe is still refusing to come to terms on a debt ceiling that is eminent. according to democrats, the sky is falling. it is all kevin mccarthy's fault when it is anything but kevin mccarthy's fault. why do democrats care so deeply about this when mccarthy was begging the white house day after day to sit down and negotiate this? take a look. >> we have to negotiate. our government is designed to have compromise. he is the president.

he is playing with the financial markets of america by saying he would not negotiate. let's be rational and reasonable and sit down and negotiate. >> he told congress we were going to meet. at the democratic retreat, he told the democrats we were planning meetings. he has never had one. time is ticking. he needs to come to the negotiating table instead of put us in default. >> the white house has been stonewalling kevin mccarthy. they ignored him over and over and they refused to answer the phone and according to democrats, there would be no negotiations, our way or the highway. >> we will not be doing negotiation over the debt ceiling. >> the president's position is simple.

congress needs to take action without hostagetaking. >> we need to take the threat of default off the table. >> we are not going to negotiate. >> it is going to be difficult to negotiate with someone who has those legislative terrorists on their team. here is the timeline. the facts are on kevin mccarthy's time. these are facts that the biased media mob will never give you. four months ago, the press secretary announced there would be no negotiations. on january 20th, mccarthy reached out to begin talks. they refused over and over again. in april, mccarthy delivered a dire message warning the default was near. on april 20th, house republicans

did their job and passed a limit save grow act that raise the ceiling and cut spending by returning to the 2020 spending levels. capping future growth to only 1%. that bill was scored at a responsible for $.8 trillion in savings. this came as a shock to democrats. they didn't believe the republicans could come together. they were betting mccarthy would fail. they bet wrong. >> he will not say what he wants to cut because he cannot pass a plan with cuts. his hard right will demand the deepest cuts mainstream republicans will not vote for. meanwhile, he never passed any plan and he was mistaken. the president begrudgingly reached out to mccarthy but

refused to negotiate. joe biden was missing in action 97 straight days, refusing to negotiate. in public, the white house was vilifying republicans, calling them wackos, maggie republicans, suggesting the budget bill would cause climate change, destroy the planet and melt bones. with nine days to go until the default deadline, biden is conducting last-minute negotiations. we are not going to default. that is a scare tactic of the left. the government is collecting more than enough revenue to cover its debt and social security and medicare and other important programs. there is no invisible line where

the country defaults and becomes insolvent. democrats continue to play politics. this has been an optics game, a way to grandstand, to fund ra raise, mccarthy tried to hammer out a deal months ago and avoid the drama like at a adult. the federal government has become more dysfunctional than ever under joe biden. another sideshow, the default crisis, which is what this will be, he could have supported the house budget and still can. that will not happen. the bureaucrats calling the shots will never sign a bill that will cut the budget. that is not going to happen, especially one that eliminates the new 87,000 irs agents we do not need.

biden did not give any remarks following that 90 minute meeting. he issued a paper statement and kept his update brief. the less we hear, the better things are going. there is agreement on recouping unused covid money but there is disagreement on work requirements on welfare pro programs. the democrats offered to freeze future spending and accept caps for two years. republicans want a 2022 baseline and limiting increases 1% annually with exceptions like veterans benefits. mccarthy indicated some would not like the final product but the same goes for the other s side. >> you are going to lose votes from the far left and right?

>> did you ever think of the end of the day when you get into a negotiation that only one side is going to carry everything? >> no. no one thinks that. i hope when you look that the democrats said they would never negotiate, those in america would say, good job. >> mccarthy expects to speak to the president every day until this is done but he will not be waving the 72 hour rule which gives his members time to digest the bill. it also has to clear the senate. the real deadline is a lot sooner than june 1st. >> here with more, someone who knows a lot about budget deals, newt gingrich is with us. you are the last person, you and bill clinton, after the

and end his presidential campaign for 2024, so he is going to have to get somewhere. kevin mccarthy has done a great job of setting goals that the conservatives really want and are refusing to back off the core of those goals. is it going to be 100% of what they passed out of the house? no. is it going to be 80%? probably. the june 1 deadline is not a crisis. i have watched the treasury over 30 years. they can find a way to keep things going. it is important that speech or mccarthy is such a dramatic contrast with speaker pelosi. she once said you have to vote for it to find out what is in it. he is saying no matter what the pressures are, the house will

have 72 hours, we will have an argument, it is going to work out and that is a huge step in the right direction. i feel good after today's meeting that they are moving in the right direction, speaker mccarthy is holding his ground, being pleasant, but being firm is the right direction. >> only 24% of americans say the national economic conditions are in good shape. two-thirds of the country are saying most democrats and congress -- it is a winning political issue on top of everything. the question is, do the people at the white house, is there anybody looking at the poll numbers, what the people are

saying and how they are suffering? 90% of the american people are financially in dire straits. struggling to make ends meet. that is a lot of people. >> from the new majority pro project, 58% of the country believes a spending cut is more than reasonable. only 19% disagree. by about 3-1, the american people believe the government is so big and bloated and wasteful that attaching significant spending controls to any debt ceiling is more than reasonable and that is why the pressure on biden, if he has hope of running for reelection, he cannot be for a default or for a proposal that by 3-1 the american people oppose.

speaker mccarthy and the conservatives are going to win a victory in the next few days. >> i have a radio show and if i use my radio audience as a focus group, the overwhelming majority of people calling me, talking to me, speaking out, all want kevin mccarthy to hold form. they look at the republican bill. all it does is return spending levels to 2022. they reduce baseline budget into 1%. cannot have massive increases in spending. kevin has a political problem. he has a 4-seat majority. if he were to try to make a deal with biden, he has to go back to his caucus. if a significant number of house republicans rejected, with that

open up a possibility that some republicans would pass a motion to vacate and push him out if he doesn't fight hard enough? >> i don't think he is fighting hard enough. nobody on the left thought he could pull this off. i have been working with jody and i can tell you, think of the debt ceiling as step one, first spending cuts ever. we have never had real spending cuts on a debt ceiling like this. we have slowing down the ride but never real cuts. second, the second step is going to be the republican budget committee is going to propose a 10-year balance budget and they're going to show you how they are going to get there. it is going to be very real.

you're going to get to the appropriations bill. they show you so many places to cut spending where institutions have lied to the american people. you will see a 1-2-3 process. i cannot think of an issue i can point to where i have been successful, my policies are working. this number, two-thirds disapprove of joe biden's handling of the economy. it is not just policy. many are raising obvious
