were a biased source in 2020 at least and probably before that so they say will listen, i'm going to show you i'm unbiased you can come here. if donald trump comes out and says hey, twitter is terrible. he rode twitter to the presidency in 2016 and through his presidency. to twitter space is kind of an interesting thing because donald trump also doesn't want to go back on twitter. they kicked him out and invited him back and he doesn't want to do it. he could do it on truth social which would have been really interesting. he is in and right away the attacks came right back at him from the democratic side and donald trump side as you heard before. i think it's going to be fascinating to see him, also, after he does the twitter spaces he goes to the four seasons and then going to be on with trey gowdy tonight. this is the first time you will see if ron desantis will take on donald trump directly. and not insinuate and apply. say this is the attack. this is my answer.

it. and we are have a very young country. and people come here for their dreams to come true. >> steve: we had surmised that the paperwork with the fec would have been filed tomorrow sounds like it's going to happen today. go ahead. ron desantis has got a lot of dough in the bank. state level campaign funds and pac he has $110 million. donald trump's maga inc. had $55 million at the end of the year. and when you look at the -- you look at ron desantis' numbers have gotten -- polling numbers have gotten soft over the last couple of months or so. during that time. donald trump has spent $15 million on attack ads against him. is he going to spend $2.3 million on attack ads this week. as.

haley 4.3. vivek ramaswamy. mike pence is not in, chris christie not in yet. youngkin september. the biggest problem for donald trump might not be ron desantis might be the court cases. he has got to be in court in march in the middle of primary season. if you see what happened yesterday, he is sending his lawyers -- sent a letter to merrick garland saying i want to meet because it looks like an indictment is coming on the mar-a-lago case. so his biggest threat is something that has nothing to do with this widening field. >> ainsley: is that a distraction and then republicans will go in a different direction or do you think that's going to help him? >> brian: that's a good point, ainsley. if he beats it in march, momentum. if mar-a-lago case is indicted it will play out over the course of month. i'm not sure that momentum. then they have got the other case about they are going after the trump organization.

the attorney general. so if a guy has got to be in court one day if you are running against the former president. you really have a pretty strong stump speech. >> steve: is he facing significant legal peril. and people will have to decide, you know, if he is convicted, if he is in the process, is that the guy you want as president? brian, to your point about whether or not ron desantis would just dance around donald trump, it's going to take him head on. and, in fact, yesterday, he was talking a little bit about unlike donald trump i would be able to serve eight years because, remember, donald trump has already been elected once. if he gets reelected. he can only serve one term four years. he is immediately a lame duck. and that's one of the things that big donors, the donor class is concerned about. >> brian: steve, isn't that that civil. that's okay. those are the things that's a fact. but i think ron desantis, he inherited a great florida. it wasn't that great on the

thankful to you for coordinating this. >> to me the buckhead council of neighborhoods, neighborhood residents were considered crime to be number one issue in quality of life. our council men had just tank force that indicated that crime, most of the crime was in the commercial corridors. and, therefore, commercial patrols in those corridors would have an impact on crime. and that was my motivation to see if we could make a difference in those crime statistics. >> ainsley: sherri, i lived in columbia, south carolina. we would go shopping in atlanta. and if you had a store there. i would have probably been shopping there as a child with my mom at the time. but we used to go to the malls. and now you can't go to some of those malls because they are so dangerous. buckhead was known as a very wealthy area. beautiful homes and safe area. good school systems there. so, how do you feel about this? how is it affecting your business and what are you

seeing? >> i'm seeing a lot of are police presence. i mean, even before, this we had bicycle patrols. mini precinct down the street. the mall has a mini precinct. the police are very proactive in this community. they are not reactive. this just adds another layer, making parents more comfortable, i think, bringing their children. peachtree street is like main street, and i feel very safe at my shop in my city. i work a mile from where i live. >> so, to me, this was just another layer of security for people. >> ainsley: debra, how did you raise the money? >> the money was raised through multiple sources from mostly larger businesses and the buckhead coalition has done a great job to help me put the word out to large businesses and foundations and that is the core

of the funds we have raised so far. our future funds we're hoping to come from the small businesses, much like sherry who will benefit from these patrols. >> ainsley: i was reading they are off duty police officer, those debt get paid enough. this great way to make extra money. we all reported on that story of that precious mom in december, her son was coming home for christmas and found his mom dead in their garage because a young man, who was 23 years old, antoni i don't know brown, who was arrested and later indicted for stabbing her to death. he was trying to steal her car and they think this lady who you see there ellen bowls intervened and she was found dead at christmas time in her garage. that was in the buckhead area. this was in paces westgateed

community. what do you know about these officers that are giving up their time, their weekends to come and help you? >> they are amazing. i mean, to do that job, you have to be special. you have to want to help your community. and from the mayor to the police chief to the commanders in our zone, we are broken up into zones they're in community. they're walking around, talking to people. they are on bicycles. they are part of the community. they are doing this because they love what they are doing. they want to be proactive. we could not have a better police department here. >> beautiful. and then when you see them. if you are watching, you live in that area or living in the united states of america. thank them for what they do because they do keep us safe. the name of your store is

arsenio. the governor is second in the polls at 37 points on the real clear average behind former president drunk. here to react is fox news contributor joe concha, democratic strategist tamika isaac divine and radio host grace hurley. what changes about desantis' numbers once he officially gets in the race? >> that's the real question. i think it all depends on his strategy and how much of a punch he really wants to make. a big part of desantis' appeal, at least from what i hear from conservatives is he is trump without the drama. when you get into politics it ain't beanbag. you have got to start swinging back he is able to come in and pick the battles he wants to partake in without getting too much in the mud with trump, he might be able to amp up those numbers. bryan brian is it too broad a statement to say that democrats want donald trump to win, that they are more worried about ron

desantis? >> that's a really good question and one i have been asking myself. we see these court cases, we see kind of these witch hunts against donald trump, a lot of the time, and it makes you wonder if either they want to take trump down or they really want him to win because they think they can beat him in the general. both of those things would make perfect sense to me. i'm not sure which one they are going for. >> brian: so far the verdict is in on the first indictment it helped trump. >> his poll numbers went significantly up, brian, after the alvin bragg indictment and obviously the arraignment in manhattan. trump was martyred in that sense. but, for ron desantis, brian, this comes down to two major events. the first one being the first debate, which will happen in august. that's when ron desantis can draw a clear contrast with donald trump or at least attempt to do it. because he has a story to tell. right? you have florida's unemployment rate at 2.6%. crime at 50 year low. you have the largest influx of

people moving into florida than any other stated in the country and, obviously, his job on education in terms of taking on gender identification, sexual orientation being taught to first graders. that's something that obviously he will tout. so that's what ron desantis has to do. do that well in that debate and then it's all about to go full tim russert on you iowa, iowa, iowa. he will have a ground game there like we have not seen from any g.o.p. candidate in some time and donald trump is vulnerable there. because ted cruz won in 2016, you may remember. beat donald trump by three points. if desantis could get a win there or at least be close. that could be enough momentum to propel him to have a puncher's chance against donald trump. as it stands right now, donald trump is the prohibitive favorite. brian. >> brian: tamika, looking at the response from the dnc, they didn't really say anything when tim scott got in. not much of a word when nikki haley got in or asa hutchinson. they came out with a strong mocking statement that he is going to make his announcement

on twitter spaces after he got in. what's the buzz behind the scenes for the dnc and ron desantis? >> i think clearly ron desantis is the person to watch. he has been touting out that he has this florida blueprint that he has made certain things work this florida and can he make that national. and so i think for democrats and independence, that's something to watch. because i do think that some things work in florida are not going to work on a national basis. it's pretty scary to think that ron desantis may be trying to take some of these that he has put in florida and bring them to national fights when i look at ron desantis so far in the preliminary, he had a stumble disney situation getting praise and now he seems to be in a cage match with them how does that

play out. these are issues like joe said we will see on a debate stage. a lot of these we will see him respond to these for the first time. if you go back to 2015 and 2016 we all thought we knew what was going to happen then. a lot can shake out and change when you see these men and women get on the stage with each other and kind of hash these issues out. it's going to depend on who can connect with people a lot of those issues school curriculum or kids any or anything like that those culture war issues resonate with people good or bad it. will be interesting to see how that plays out for ron desantis. >> brian: right. lastly, joe. swho confronted he actually excels. think about the "60 minutes" challenge. think about the local media press when they go at him. is he actually good at sparring. never taken on the heavyweight champion at sparring and that's trump. >> this is alli frazier it appears is coming up right now, brian. in the end, the challenge for

ron desantis is donald trump will get a majority a will majority of media coverage as he did in 2015 and 2016. all those candidates running against him at that time really had trouble standing out. how do you stand out when donald trump is the focus? whether you are nikki haley or ron desantis or tim scott, you have to somehow create a space where you're the center of attention instead of donald trump and that's going to be a challenge, certainly. >> brian: it's going to be. i would not go to sleep on nikki haley or tim scott. we know for sure, tamika it's going to be joe biden. 38% approval rating right now which makes a lot of people want to jump. in we move ahead. state of emergency, north carolina governor takes drastic actions to prevent a school choice bill from passing the state legislature. the ironic twist as many on the leave seize power from the people. really? plus, it's fleet week and janice dean is live for from the

take a look at this poll. 67% of north carolina parents support opportunities to send their child to a school of their choice a what happens interesting i know you touched on the fact that republicans have a super majority in the legislature there. but according to the governor, he would like to see the teachers get about an 18% raise but the republicans either make it 4.5 or 10% think are half what the governor wants and that's why he is angry. >> yeah. it's still a step in the right direction what the republicans are proposing. and school choice could lead to competition in the labor market which will give employers stronger sennives to cater to the needs of employees. school choice can be a win-win solution for parents, teachers and students at the same time. >> and the governor, a democrat, is having trouble, i read the that last week he vetoed banning abortions after 12 weeks, the general assembly overrode the veto, it's going to become law.
