a specific celebration on memorial day with a flyover. >> harris: i don't know if you can see it. our men and women were at the ready for that photo op right there. what a beautiful sight. so special to have our military branches here in the city and along the hudson river. how blessed are we to have them fighting [music] >> hello everyone this is "outnumbered" i'm kayleigh mcenany and we begin with the new contender in the republican presidential field. florida governor, ron desantis, hughes gearing up to launch his long-awaited presidential bid in just hours. 6 pm to be exact. his wife casey posting a new stering campaign video ahead of the official announcement. saying that the battle for america is worth fighting.
9:01 am
>> they call it faith because in the face of darkness you can see that brighter future. the faith that her best days lay ahead of us. >> desantis is expected to unveil his 2024 campaign during a twitter live event at 6 pm eastern with elon musk. he will sit down with the twitter owner appeared the decision to speak with musk has the media up in arms. vanity fair, they are out with this headline it's hard to even believe. ron desantis will formally announce his 2024 bid with elon musk because apparently, get this, david duke was not available. stunning to now with me is our panel try to be as my cohost emily compagno and harris faulkner. also joining us is kennedy with fox and fox news contributor charlie hurt. let's start with the headline
9:02 am
about david d duke. they tried this with trumpeter trying it with desantis. harris, i want to take off some bills that people may not know that governor desantis signed into law. take a look at this. first was hb 7 which requires the teaching of slavery and racial oppression and segregation. in addition we have covered desantis assignees, each be there 1213 which required including the okoye election date massacre as part of african-american history. hb 551 that's enacting stronger reporting requirements to make sure people are teaching african-american history. 4041, requires the building of a florida museum of black history. then there's one that enhances florida's antidiscrimination laws.before we get to how well the black community is doing in florida economically and beyond . >> recently florida rejected the college boards new ap class and african studies.
9:03 am
that's where he saw the fight coming abroad but, when you look at that list, this is a fight for politics sake.but with the governor has accomplished in all of this. a lot of what he's pushed against has to do deal with age appropriateness. who you are teaching this to? do you have parents on board, so on and so forth. that's what the nation knows who he is. but he gets in later, no, he won't have the name recognition a former president had. when you look at the other 6 and that group of 7 when he joins later today, it will be interesting. what is a problem for the left? you gonna start to take them out early. embraces her favorite game. they went after senator tim scott within seconds. you saw what cohost of the view from joy behar was saying. he says and he is that it doesn't know what it means to be about black man in america. like she would have a clue. this is the fallback. you see people coming and you're gonna take him out on that list of things that the tropes and things that you know will get people going in your
9:04 am
party. i tell you, if i'm a democrat i be angry. i wouldn't want to be represented by the joey behar's of the world. >> i wouldn't either. charlie, it's amazing what they try to do. you laugh as ideal. it's ridiculous. tonight, big announcement senior official of the decay desantis campaign.things are upside down in america, common sense has been on, virtue, truth is under assault. the client is a choice and success is attainable. that's powerful. >> he's got a great message. ron desantis has agreed record to point to to run on. i think will be very exciting fight between in particular between him and donald trump. obviously once the campaign gets into full swing i think we will get a better sense of how things are going to go. i always say this. pulling at this point is
9:05 am
utterly ridiculous. polls mean absolutely nothing at this point. but, it is interesting. he has been running. he has been sort of trying to make his pitch to the american people. >> he's been to iowa. cox and his poll numbers have gone in the wrong direction. as much as he has a tremendous record to point to back in florida, he's externally popular in florida. we talk to people florida they will tell you that the reason they love him is because he has done something that improved their lives in a very maternal personal way. his challenges were to be taking that enthusiasm and conveying that to iowa and new hampshire all across the country and could to convince regular voters who haven't undefeated from his policies in florida of that. if this election comes down, as i think it will, more about who is the best fighter and ron desantis has a good argument.
9:06 am
donald trump has a great argument on who is a great fighter as well. i think, it's could be very interesting next couple of months. i think we will have a much better sense of that. >> yeah, i going toe to toe on donald trump on a debate stage. no easy task. the man who knows how to debate. looking at this, this is about walking with the desantis super pack. here's what he said, in the hours before his presidential race begins ron desantis is being attacked by dizzy, aclu and naacp, hillary clinton, the dnc, joe biden, america bridge. it seems like the democrats are pretty scared if this is with a pretty their fire. >> it seems so. what you 2 were saying about the messaging. it's a fundamental import the messaging stays consistent and clear. normal regular voters, i'm not talk about that liberal book
9:07 am
left that's behold it to the for the book left mob or those from link to the right no matter what desantis says. they need to hear about it clear how he's materially improved those floridians lives. how he has garnered the public education, the school vote, the parents are involved. white maternal fertility rates are so low. why employment rates are so high and the like. the list goes on how florida leads the nation in a lot of positive areas. that americans value. these surrounded by the noise the keeps coming up. we saw the atlantic vanity fair likening him to david duke. associative twitter is this ripe cesspool for hate speech. it's the loss of power that they resent. i loved the line, twitter demonstrated exactly why free speech is a threat to this type of manic mudslinging. because they are mad that they can accuse conservatives by being hate filled bigots without being factually checked. actually check by third parties. the reality that have those analytical minds or open minds
9:08 am
will see clearly. here's a message in which one states with me? the flurry to your point kaylee in the book left in this ministry should represents the height of bees after they've been poked by the stick. our city back enjoying them and freaking out essentially old key is to remain consistent with messaging so that none of that dirt, none of that pigpen, pigsty that clear message coming out of these candidates. >> i think that's exactly right. kennedy, how do you break through? i'm learning new facts as i'm studying the state of florida. in quarter one for the bar. population were up 22.5 percent since the governor took office. again, for the black community, florida has the most black-owned businesses of any state in the nation more than california, where the new york. how do you break through with this message like the racist attacks we see are being
9:09 am
pointed at him? >> people aren't dumb. people are going to be led to vote because of propaganda that they're being fed or someone assumes they have to vote a certain way because of the color of their skin. people want economic prosperity. it doesn't matter where you're from or where you lived or the makeup of your family is. you want to know there's a prosperous future for you good that's what he has to run on. has to run on the economic success that he has created and cultivated in florida. that's very much unlike places like california. they're running a deficit. they have a massive number of people that are leaving the state for the first time in decades in california. they see a net loss of population. not seeing that florida appeared till percent, i learned this from jonathan on foxbusiness last night. 12 percent of all business applications are being filed in florida. the black and plummet rate in florida is only 3.9 percent. he has to solve the disease stuff. maybe let the culture work stuff take a backseat and run on the economic message. those independent voters you touched on that aren't in either camp right now, they are most worried about the economy.
9:10 am
ask yes. 2024 is upon us appeared how exciting. be sure to tune into fox news tonight at 8 pm eastern time. governor ron desantis will give us first television interview tour own trey gowdy following his big announcement. you do not want to miss it. coming up, target is removing some of its pride month section from the front of some sorts. as a company insider claims, the retailers looking to avoid another so-called, bud light situation. good luck. [music] >> [music]
9:15 am
companies to know big retailers. look at this. target is pulling some of its pride collection merchandise after threats to employees backlash from customers. line includes lgbtq apparel for adults, children and their pets. one of those items is an adult swimsuit which openly promotes talk friendly construction. i will let that's it. a target insider says the company held several emergency calls with regional store leaders. that insider told fox news digital and this is a quote to mike we were given 36 hours and told to take all of our price stuff and move it into a section that's 3rd of the size. from the front of the store to the back.
9:16 am
i think given the current situation with bud light, the company is terrified". target is responding to those new revelations with a spokesperson saying, since introducing this year's collection we've experienced threats impacting our team members sense of safety and well-being while at work. given these volatile circumstances we are making adjustments to our plans including removing items at the center of the most significant confrontational behavior. our focus now is on moving forward with our continuing commitment to the lgbtq i a+ community. that's a statement from the company. can they just simply move on kennedy? >> have again pet parents. i appreciate target has thanks our a dog. you know what you like. i love them and he loves boys and 5 without harris. i embrace that. i think in a society rep to come back to equilibrium. that's what were doing. everyone so mad and they're not about bud light and them at about target. the people i met at target for moving stuff. we have to find some common ground. some commonality. used to be like all these big corporations, they would celebrate pride month.
9:17 am
i'm not gonna lie, i've flown first class on united. they would have pride flag on the high bank. that's great. we need more high-five and less cancellation. >> again, can they just move on? bud light hasn't appeared there still bleeding customers. the sales of their peers are still down. >> dismal and plummeting still to that trend to your point. i love what you said about the high-five. i think the issue that i am seeing and hearing and from what i understand is that it's not the high-five people have issues with. as to having something ramped on their throat. is the taking it to the extreme within that. a lot of customers complaints had to do with not to the factors pride garment at target but, included talk friendly swimsuits. target has come out responded there adults only
9:18 am
unfriendly in the consumer confusion and people's impressions that advertise clearly they were talk friendly and parents didn't want to see that when they went to the target or want their children to be exposed to that. a lot of questions surrounding it including the comment about the threats. we talk about how people perceive words as threats. worlds as violence. we see that over and over again. professor called a table of paraphernalia violence. the point is i wonder if a customer raised the question. hey, is this appropriate? is that the threat target was talking about? there's a lot of questions raised by this. if it was a merely a high-five and normalized moderate zone. then customers would it be so shocked and they wouldn't be so angry. >> the big challenge, it's a big diluted 2. people who get caught in the middle are the people that would go to target for the pride items. now they realize there's this
9:19 am
riff and battle going on over them. they are not at the table to help make decisions. maybe they wouldn't want to talk friendly that a parent has to explain to a child next to the kid section either. >> let me tell you a huge problem with what target has done. apparently they've corrected this mistake. foxnews.com had an article out about one of the designers of someone they included in this lgbtq i a+. here's a quote on fox news one of the designers they started to feature. satanists do not believe in satan. he's used as passion and pride and liberty. for me, sabin is hope, passion, equality and love. this is one of the designers for the companies they chose to feature. target has removed the paraphernalia. why would you ever allow a person with that kind of opinion to put paraphernalia in
9:20 am
your store? parents have a right to be upset this is the safety we saw doctor stadium. their mocking catholics and welcoming them and giving them award. it's an attack on people of faith. that's the problem. >> the bigger problem is the i is the biggest thing in te and i appeared its eat everyone's included. even those that say one thing about faith or redefined the word satanism. everyone is included. >> i think everyone include beliefs in a close city. it's when you go over the line of indoctrination pit. >> and other eyewear. >> another eye word. obviously that's a problem. on top of that it comes from a company like target. i've never been in a target. >> where to get your tie then? >> i mean getting lectured to demoralize by a company that
9:21 am
buys a bunch of cheap junk from china and tries to make money. >> i lived in minnesota right down from one of the flagship stores of target. it's a wonderful company. i can't even imagine what that emergency call was like. oh man. coming up. a shocking update on the now former hunter college professor that emily teased us about. she was in trouble yesterday, this professor appeared wait to see what she did with the machete. the new york post caught on camera with a machete. >> the nypd is investigating
9:25 am
9:26 am
>> sleep, sleep. this is propaganda. this is violent. >> i'm sorry about that. >> no you're not. you don't even know what that is. >> police did get involved because that tirade. they launched the investigation after the adjunct professor threatened a new york post reporter with a machete. when he knocked on her door to request an interview. the new york post which shares common ownership with fox, caught that moment on camera. >> let's get out of here. you can't do that. >> she then barged out of her apartment and chased the reporter. hunter college previously said
9:27 am
it was disciplining her, went further issuing the statement, in hunter college strongly condemns the unacceptable actions and is taking immediate action. she's been relieved of her duties at hunter college effective mutely. i will not be returning to teach at the school. candidate, the video and photographs, i mean first of all thank goodness everyone is okay. secondly it was there literally out of a movie. he saw one from the dash cam the reporter running by then she runs white with a machete. kicked him in the shin and holding it up to his neck. this is not fiction, that was a professor? >> aoc tries to tell us derek city is very safe.this poor woman past 11. with the machete in her house. things are so incredibly dangerous. this is the problem. these kids were expressing an opinion using words and words and pamphlets. she thought it was okay to use violent actions because 2 people on the left burden words
9:28 am
are violence and violence is okay to counter violence. then, when reporter knocks on her door, maybe she felt that was intrusive. it's illegal to have machete in york as you know because you know the law. it's a bad idea to chase people down the street with said machete because she obviously had intent to greatly injure them. there are many steps between when she's in the darby avenue apartment and when she's on the street wielding this deadly weapon. alpine bronx new york, he charges everyone now i think. trump, daniel penny. hopefully charlene rodriguez as well. >> so kaylee, you hit the nail on the head. to the left this behavior is justified. to left no matter what escalation or what violence she brought it is justified. because of the point of view the students held before. because how dare the press exercise the first amendments
9:29 am
right to seek an interview. that makes it justified. >> according to the left. i thank you have an answer to the question and how are activists being hired as educators. listen to her quote, normally you don't quote your professors, their academic you aspire to be like them. her quote, i'm going chop you up with this machete. this is a professor appeared teaching our children. this is crazy. not only that, the left union of teachers over at her college called the professional staff congress. they justify her actions and said she was part of a long legacy of activists. she was confronting disinformation. i don't know if that was their justification for this or the justification of pulling over the kids pro-life tables. either way. >> just to be clear the issue the statement after the table, before the machete.
9:30 am
>> they probably would've said the same thing about the machete.>> that was part of the original consequences. at the end of the statement we read on this hour because it had just popped. it said, if a further thing happens it there will be further consequences. that was the initial round of consequences. she went in and got her necessary machete. the point talk about crime in york, i know you're kidding. she had that in our house to protect yourself. we don't know why she had it. emily talk about how the law works when he chase somebody down. the intent kennedy is pointing to is important. this isn't self-defense by any means. i don't care how triggered she feels. we chase after somebody, telling them how you want to chop them up and maybe she thought it was an assignment. i'm not thrilled, not my kind of performance art. talk about that legal journey she's on.
9:31 am
>> you don't need my analysis. this is defensible. there's no law protecting her. look at the photo. it's unacceptable and yet it was a professor that exhibited multiple days prior and multiple more times this time of immediate, the switch gets flipped. we saw her in the video and i'm sorry we are here. she escalated it. here she escalated it to an unjustifiable, illegal form of violence. >> as you said earlier, words are not violence. pamphlets are not violence. chasing after reporter with the machete is violence. obviously this woman is disturbed. i hope she gets help. it does remind us of the problem on college campuses after a generation where there is no free speech on college campuses. everyone is forced into thinking the same thing. then you have a diversity of opinion which, i think is a
9:32 am
very important, vitally important part of your education and growing up is to be challenged with diverse opinions of force you to defend whatever your thoughts are. the result of that is she turns over the table and knocks everything to the ground. it's interesting to me. college professors are some of the only people on the planet who get tenure. the whole point of getting tenure is to protect their intellectual independence. what happens? it would be interesting if you do this with an experiment with mice. what happens if you give everybody tenure to protect their intellectual independence then they come up with groupthink and think that's a thing. when there challenged with that they turn over the tables and pamphlets and the next thing you know they're chasing someone down the hall it with a machete. >> can i say one thing? we always drift over to a mental illness. while everyone with mental
9:33 am
illness ends up chasing someone down with the machete. there a lot of people in this country that definitely need help and will do things that are unpredictable. that college knew her. they knew her. you've talked about, they knew she was an activist. they knew these things about her. we can't just give up pass to the left liberal and people that want to protest and to all that. when you get violent, remind me of summer of love. that's not what were talking about. she was triggered just a few hours she was triggered with the machete. in her hand. >> new video from the new york post showing a dash cam, showing the professor and the post reporter. this is what i was talking about a moment ago in part. there are multiple different angles you can see in the new york post. what you see here, there are a few passerby that are watching. there were 2 of them. there was a new york post reporter and photographer. you see prior to that the photographer and then you saw her run by.
9:34 am
that's who we were just looking out. this is the photographer running then she's chasing after him. >> that's premeditated. she sat there for a moment and then thought let me go after the sky. >> mental illness is a serious thing. the people who know you best are the people who were going to be the best resources and defenders. >> seems like that's what we find out. >> were not diagnosing anyone. this is an acceptable and unjustifiable. according to the left this was confronting disinformation and therefore justified. nothing about that is okay. we will be right back. more "outnumbered", next. .

has places chief diversity officer on leave after she reportedly try to highlight the experience of white women in america. uber says it's determining the next steps for ge and i boss, bill young lee. after she ran a seminar titled, can macdill, karen kamc. the event was billed as open dialogue for women and race. workers claim the topic minimize him racism to insensitive to people of color. some question the idea that karen is a derogatory term. now, new op-ed in the new york post is calling for an end to the cable karen label calling pearson for me reads this. it's potent potency would majority label of karen is shorthand for the titled and demanding white lady. but when i spun online mom looking to manufacture racist narrative. it's much more than a diverse of label.
9:40 am
it's a flamethrower meant to incinerate the woman, her reputation and her livelihood in the so-called name of racial justice. mark here is our producer and she is named karen. that's her birth name. which is also complicated i would think. >> yeah. the reason our parents teach us not to beat prejudice is a whole point is not to judge people based on their gender or race or whatever. the whole concept of creating a category of people, karen's mom you're basing this on, you're being a woman and being white. i would think, that's not a step forward and progress coming up with a new name and a new category for people based on their immutable characteristics. >> should they have punished mystically? >> no. well young lady, she's doing what she supposed to do. having conversations about race
9:41 am
and equity and diversity. there's a diversity of an opinion and would've been a good conversation if kiersten fleming, if her point of view would've been represented at this meeting. other people to stand up and say no, you don't have the same claim ideal but i go through on a day-to-day basis is much worse than anything you've been through. you can't tell someone that appeared you can't tell someone there reality is rosier than yours. our own realities are incredibly subjective. i think there is a discussion to be had and good for her for having it. that's the only way we're going to move past the divide that we find ourselves in beard if we can have mature and sometimes uncomfortable discussions. if they fire her, shame on them. >> kayleigh? >> the name of the seminar is don't call me karen. which would've been synonymous which he still be fired if don't call me racial slur was
9:42 am
stated. to have an opening on his conversation about race.wives are not allowed in the country by divisions or hearts of people at at one another's wits end and angry. why can't we come together and have an open and honest conversation? you get fired if you do apparently or on leave. >> emily, it's possible we can have the conversation. people on one side of the political aisle or ideology. they decide the other side is so wrong. they don't want to talk to them. there could be black conservatives like lowder larry elder and tim scott. those people don't really exist. they're not really black. they don't know what it means to be black. >> horrifyingly cell. that's been normalized by the far left as being acceptable to do that. to paint with a racist trope and a racist concept.
9:43 am
someone's entire life because they think a certain way or vote a certain way or most important just think for themselves out of lockstep with the left. i know that karen, a lot of questions have been raised in arguments. doesn't this represent beyond insulting. it represents a misogynistic stair stereotypic concept. my wouldn't to be put in the bucket of unacceptable to use? it's been distorted and diluted my friends teenage sons use it when they don't get their own way. they call their mama karen. the bottom line is it's used liberally to mean really negative condensation that so broad it's used as a tool in the toolbelt of the left to say i'm gonna call you a karen and therefore instant cancellation you are racist, your unworthy, you deserve to be canceled. to me what a horrifying worse of the word. why should that be frowned upon using? >> it's really hard for karen's on dating apps. they have to change their
9:44 am
names. >> it's a beautiful lovely name. >> it's been complicated by social media. you # the world karen you get all those things emily just said. it's not going to go away. they're not gonna put that in the untouchable basket at this point. it just serves the left to much. >> everything gets poisoned in social media obviously. sort of moving back to the concept of judging thing based on the content of the character and who they are instead of their karen' or whatever. it turns out it says greater strategy today as it was 50 years ago. >> sadly. >> we want to update you on reports last week claiming upstate hotels in orange and rockland counties including crossroads hotel effected a group of homeless veterans. we've learned veteran advocates

of the weapons that shaped america. i'm emily compagno and this is, weapons of war. >> i've never seen anybody in that position look so happy. >> happy indeed. i think by far this is been the most exciting project i've ever undergone here at fox. what an honor to explore 5 different weapons that truly shaped america's history. every single episode goes through a different weapon. not only to a good experience, every episode ups the annie. i just don't just drive the tank, then i shoot it. i don't just shoot the flamethrower, then i cooked a steak with it. for the battlefields of yorktown to the beaches of normandy. it's an incredible explanation
9:51 am
and overview. you could see unexpected company and terror. earlier you when i speak of the lifespan of those brave soldiers that each evolved those weapons. that so great. the show is dedicated to the brave men and women in the armed forces who served valiantly every day to preserve our freedom. as take a look at the flamethrower episode. >> the most terrifying weapon on the battlefield. the second i started shooting and it was like power. the function. >> no other by them at the time could you. >> the fear. >> you were upfront and he had to be in. ask the fire. this was by far the coolest thing i have ever done. the flamethrower.
9:52 am
that's obviously top of my christmas wish list. what's fascinating about every weapon is not how only exciting it was shooting the mall and shooting the mini gun on the range and from helicopter. to learn what went into manufacturing and creating and operating them. that sherman tank, the majority of them were built by women. while the men were serving overseas. though sherman tanks were almost exclusively put together by the women on the home front. to learn history behind what goes into shaping our american successes. the changes of the war, the changes of the battle. the musket, that's what urge and establish our independence and freedom and to touch history like that. to honor these men and women and soldiers in our history like that was an honor. you hit the nail on the head harris when you said it was pretty fun. >> tastes use wind throwers? >> not anymore like that. it were for global will for, they were discontinued from use
