joining us now is christina martin who represented ms. tyler in this case. first of all how did we get here? if you can brief us on the background of ms. geraldine tyler's unimaginable predicament. >> sure. this tyler failed to pay her property taxes showed about $2300 in property taxes plus about $12700 in penalties of interest and related costs. until hennepin county took the entire house food sold at auction for $40000 and kept all of the money. she brought a constitutional challenge and attempted class action. the trial court dismissed it. the eighth circuit court of appeals dismissed it. and so we petitioned the supreme court. unfortunately the supreme court agreed to hear the case. and they said a resounding yes you resounding. i want to share another example of home equity theft.

this example is in nebraska so local governments out fact tax debt to private investors behind a home on his the homeowner eventually receives a letter after three years have gone by giving them 90 days to satisfy the full tax burden which has continued accruing over those three years along with 14% interest and additional fees. now over those three years the debtor does not receive notification from the government of his ability debt. the private investor quietly continues his satisfying it. what is wrong with that sce scenario? >> so we have two petitions from nebraska pending before the supreme court. we are providing him with free representation the legal foundation is right what's wrong with that is exact same problem what happened to ms. tyler. they are taking an entire house,
