congressman, a conservative, that supports you says plus four trillion, no. there is fracture in the republican party. where do you stand, governor? >> prior to this deal, our country was careening toward bankruptcy and after this deal, our country will still be careening toward bankruptcy. to say 4 trillion of increases in the next year and a half, that is massive spending. we've gotten on a trajectory, reset the budget and they are sticking with that and that is totally inadequate to get us in a better spot. in florida, we run big budget surpluses. our debt is only 17 billion, second lowest per capita in the country. we make tough choices and look

9/11 family members, a reason that inspired you to serve and an attendee called it a moving meeting and a lot of tears other than shed. what was shared during that meet something >> they have had a lot of frustration about getting justice based on the 9/11 attacks. they are suing saudi arabia, trying to get more documents. they have been given promises and leaders have not followed through with those promises. two decades later and trying to get justice. it is a personal thing, some people in the meeting were teenagers when their fathers died. there was a granddaughter who was not even born yet. she's lived through the memories of her grandfather who died in

the south tower. these things are very raw, even a couple decades later i didn't have connection in new york city. it had profound effect on our country and to see that there, the raw emotion from people directly impacted was powerful and moved my wife and i very much. >> todd: on memorial day, governor, what is your message? >> well, the end of the day, we have a great country built on great values. a great constitution and great declaration of independence. if you don't have people willing to put on the uniform, risk l lives and give full level of devotion, none of that amounts to much. reflect on those that made the ultimate sacrifice, if you don't have that, you don't have a free

society. >> kayleigh: you mention sacrifice. while today i think about that baseball verse about those who lay down their life making the ultimate sacrifice and our lord and savior jesus christ. i was reading about casey when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. can you share time you turned to god and how that relationship will inform how you governor as president? >> well, when she was diagnosed, it hits the family like a ton of bricks, we had a five, a three and a one year old kid. for mother of young kids, it is particularly devastating, you are thinking what could happen. we made the decision to publicly acknowledge she was fighting this. we are private people, but we are public. we made the decision. it was pretty dark when we did

that, once we did, the amount of prayers made a huge difference and i saw her spirit be lifted in a way many did not think was possible. if anyone tells you to doubt the power of prayer, we are the power of prayer made a big difference. she was able to get through this, not easy, handling it about as well as someone could. i don't think she would have been able without prayer. >> joey: governor, you are a vert, i served, going into this election, we have a war in ukraine we are financing. we have china trying to attack from the backdoor through the pacific whachl can be done to stop our country from spilling more blood on the foreign battlefield? >> i think we need to look at the military right now. the military i see is different

from the military i served in. i see emphasis on political ideology, gender pronouns and things like dei and i think that is caused recruiting to plummet and driven off a lot of warriors and i think moral is low. all those issues are important and we'll roll out a strong program, i think it is our number one threat. you have to get things on the core mission of why people want to join. why would you have wanted to join the marine corps back in the day? why do people joining the army, i remember being in iraq and it was not going well and people were still willing to sign up knowing they would get sent to iraq, they believed it was special. i think we have lost that a little bit and need to rejuvenate moral in the military. we will do that day one and you will see big changes in the

freedom in america. our next guest is active duty master sergeant and green beret within the u.s. army and awarded the bronze star medal, tim kennedy, joins us now. are you still active duty? >> i'm active in the guard. >> joey: i didn't know that, that is insane. you do not stop. you have done so much, i've known about you for a decade. i know all the things you have done to serve your community and your country and now the community within your country, what is your message for memorial day? >> first and foremost, memorial day is like, do the thing you love to do. if you want to barbecue and play in the pool, do that thing, somebody sacrificed their life for you to be able to do that.

that person had an idea what america was and we do not deserve their sacrifice whachl they gave is more than we could ask for whachl we can do for the rest of our lives is try to earn that sacrifice they made. that is us trying to be true to the idea america was, these people were fighting for. men and women put on the uniform, had the flag, and went orseas and died for the idea of america. let's try to earn it, live the best life we could live and make sure america is realized dream and idea they fought for. >> joey: one thing i struggle with, i want this conversation in front of america. a lot of times people say thank you for your service on memorial day, how do you bring it back to what memorial day is about.

governor ron desantis earlier on "fox and friends" previewing his upcoming trip to iowa, discussing his feud with iowa and laying out differences in him and former president trump. here to react is charlie hurt and lisa boothe. welcome, start with you, lisa. the polling, trump 53%, desantis 20%. huge caveat, this is before the desantis announcement. we don't know how that will affect polling, it could give him a tailwind, what are your thoughts? >> lisa: it is so early, you, charlie, we know it is incredibly earlier. we will see if he gets bump from the announcement and he's been able to already show he's able to fund raise and that money will go into effect. all that matters is early states

and there is a big difference in donald trump and ron desantis. i have gotten to know each of them personally, their governoring styles are different. i love trump, much of what he did has been reversed, it was done through executive orders. governor desantis is disciplined and doesn't have personnel challenges in hiring people like christopher wray, who has worked against president trump and disciplined in the way he leading. look at the hurricane, being able to build bridges in record time and with covid, trying to get a grip on the underlying data so he is not outsourcing what the right response is to it. we are in dire times. i don't think four years will

get the job done, we need eight and need someone to have their head down disciplined and make decisions. >> kayleigh: my question for governor desantis, let's back up. trump and desantis have done tremendous job on policy. what trump can do, retail politics. i watched him stop at shops and sit across from fishermen and watched him respond in a personal way. desantis will be in iowa and new hampshire, can he look voters in the eye, personalization i know president trump is able to do? >> charles: that is the biggest question that will decide this. if you go, as you know, if you go to florida and talk to voters

in florida, who have benefited from the same policies that ron desantis put into place, those people have that connection to desantis. the problem for desantis, the rest of the country has not lived in florida and enjoyed the same benefits and ron desantis is not quite the charasmatic, magnetic politician donald trump is, who has marvelous ability to reach people and connect with people. people love him, they know he is genuine about the things he's talking about and his political policy agenda, they feel it. one thing that is interesting and i agree with much of what lisa said, polling is completely almost irrelevant, i'll be
